Good topic!
I guess for me it would be Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. I've never owned any of their albums... I've always admired them, but not enough to buy their albums. I don't know why, maybe because the radio stations here play their songs so much that I feel that I hear them enough to justify that I don't need to buy their albums?
Bob Dylan is another person that I admire and I don't own any of his albums. I'm working in that.
The Rolling Stones...I like and respect them, just not enough to go out and but their albums. I guess I like The Beatles and The Who more...

There are artists that I have heard and like but am afraid to spend bucks on something I may not like:
Reverend Horton Heat
Echo And The Bunnymen
The Smiths (but I think Pete70s convinced me)
Courtney Love/Hole
I'm slowly getting brave. My record club cuts me a good deal every now and then. I got a Big Audio Dynamite cd and love it.
