I have a few records (mostly 45's) that "found" (hee hee) their way into my collection that were both my middle and older brother's. I also have some albums and cassettes that were my Dad's and I kept them when he passed away.
When we moved from the house I grew up in (in 1989) I ended up in possesion of some old albums that belonged to both my brother's but they were so thrashed I threw them out ( I remember asking them if it was ok , before doing so.) I still have the old Beatle albums however. My middle brother has every Beatle ( and non beatle 45 he ever bought)

Let's see......
I have several of my mom's old singles, including Joni Mitchell's Help Me.
My dad has a death grip on his records. I can barely borrow them! LOL!
I have a couple of my stepmom's records, including original copies of Hard Day's Night and the Blue Album. (These were odd in her collection as she is not a Beatles fan.)
When my grandma passed, I found an album which was a recording of our church's choir. Grabbed it just because of what it was. I also took back my two singles she liked that I gave her-Sheena Easton's Morning Train and George's All Those Years Ago.
The biggest "haul" I made was from my brother. I think he was in the midst of moving and he called me over. I ended up with a bunch of crappy tapes, all without covers, but also some great singles and albums!
LPs- Journey-Departure Cars-Heartbeat City Beatles-White Album (Capitol reissue, no inserts) Beatles-Love Songs (glad to get this one!) REO-Good Trouble (2 copies!) Night Ranger-Midnight Madness (actually already had this on vinyl) Stones-Tattou You Stones-Still Life Bruce-Born to Run
Some of the singles- You Sexy Thing-Hot Chocolate (This was actually was my dad's, as it had a piece of paper with his nickname on it-"Greek".) Kiss You All Over-Exile I Love You-Climax Blues Band (This was just a bit before I met Bekki, so the song was fresh in my head when we started dating.)
There is more, I'll have to add later.

I have some of my parents' LPs, mostly Christmas albums, but there a few others such as an oldies compilation called The Originals. I also have a few 45s - Dr. Hook's Sharing the Night Together is one title that comes to mind.
When my grandmother passed away in 1998, I was given her album collection. Some of it I didn't keep, but among the ones I still have are Jr. Walker & the All-Stars Greatest Hits, several George Jones albums (he was her favorite singer), two Roy Orbison albums - There is Only One Roy Orbison and The Orbison Way, Elvis Country, and a compilation titled Kings and Queens.

Since I am an only child, I never had anyone to fight with over what records belonged to whom. After my dad died in '75 and my mom moved to an apartment about 2 years thereafter, I got my dad's entire (small) collection of 78s. Mainly old pop songs from the 40s and early 50s and some Yiddish music as well. Most of the records are breakable, and have to be handled with care. I've transposed several onto CD. Bad quality but good memories.

I have gobs of 45's that were my parents'. Also have several LP's of my parents' - Journey, Foreigner, The Go Go's, among others. I kinda just took them. My mom didn't really seem to care, and my dad most likely completely forgot about them.
It'd be great it I had a record player though...

We have used stores around here that have bins and bins of old LP's and 45's. I browse them once in a while if I have time. I haven't found any real goodies though.

I have CD versions of most of them. I'm still looking for a decent turntable to play them when I do inherit them. I just have to have my father's collection of Dean Martin, and my mom's Andres Segovia's. All originals. I have a list of every LP at my fathers house, and I just got the Boots Randolph CD: Yakety Sax. I'm a happy girl.

I have been searching the web for turntables to find something which will play my '45's and 33&1/3's! I ALMOST ordered a turn table from BEST BUY for $299.! BUT, I recently found a turntable at my local SALVATION ARMY store for a mere $30.!

Plays 33s and 45s

I'm sad to say that my brother foolishly gave my Dad's collection to the Salvation Army when he died. All the great old country albums he had (including original Johnny Cash LP's on SUN!), gone! All I have is an album by "The Exotic Sounds of Martin Denny" which I had borrowed from him several months before.. My mother's collection had already infiltrated it's way into dad's collection, so they're gone too.. But I don't feel as great a loss in not having the complete recorded output of Ed Ames..
