I know you guys are probably in a state of shock-- smittykins is posting on the country music board??? But during my high school years(1980-84), I was pretty much force-fed country at my house(I always tell my mom that she should be glad I got into oldies/classic rock instead of heavy metal or rap... ). Recently, a song that was played often during that time period came into my head. I'm almost positive the title is "You Can't Stop Love," but Googling/Yahoo-ing the title isn't bringing up the lyrics I remember. I only know some of them, but I'll share what I remember. The basic storyline is about a young single mother: His daddy left on the night they made him So in his mother's arms they laid him...The second verse deals with the difficulties this young mother faces: (Two lines I can't remember) She worked in shoes that did not fit her To pay the rent and the babysitter Late at night she'd come back home And she'd clean the house and wash the clothes She lay down with her body achin' Lord knows that her heart was breakin'I don't remember the exact words of the last verse, but the gist is that after some time, maybe a couple of years, guess who comes crawling back but the babydaddy, and he vows that if she'll take him back he'll never go away again. Since this is a country song, she accepts, and presumably they lived happily ever after. (If I had been the mom, I would have said, "You had your chance before, bucko...and where's my back child support?") Anyhoo, anybody remember this one and the artist? It was a male singer, BTW.

You know, that DOES sound familiar! If it's the song I'm thinking of, I think it was by Schuyler, Knoblock & Overstreet (SKO), or SKB as they were known later (I forget what the "B" stands for). Tell you what, I'll go look at allmusic.com and see. I believe the title is "You Can't Stop the Love"...
Well, let's see...I found one by Marty Stuart called "You Can't Stop Love". Let me put on the ol' headphones and see if I can find a download of at least part of it...
Nope, that doesn't sound like the same one. I'll keep looking...
Aha, got it. Schuyler, Knoblock & Overstreet, or SKO, recorded a song called "You Can't Stop Love" in 1986. That was probably it, but I can't download it from here...I'll try Google...I can at least see if the lyrics are the same...
Darn! I found a site, but the lyrics are unavailable! I'm pretty sure that's it, though...
