Ok... let me add my 2 cents. First of all, just because your cousin is 40, Adam, doesn't mean he can't like hard rock/metal exclusively. It's not an age thing. - unless you're taking about nursery rhymes. Now: Rap vs. Country. Let's start with Country: Country is a type of American folk music. It is closely allied with rock as well. It is one of the founding genres that led to rock (R&B and jazz being the others). I have never been a big fan of old "shitkickin'" country music. I like a lot of country rock, and the boundaries between country and rock are getting dimmer all the time, and my appreciation of country music is growing. Now Rap: I remember when The Click was very young, there was a post where someone asked about peples opinion of Rap. I remember answering that post, and I just did a search for it and actually found it. It was a response to a question posed by Beatles4ever on the Opinions Board. You'll note the date was May 11 2003. The Click was two days old. Here is my post. BTW, I feel the same today. Hey - and notice the censor was active back then! I was waiting for you to join in! Ok, I knew the thing about him being 40 would be targetted by someone eventually. I have no problem with him liking only hard music. My point of pointing that out is, if he is going to make fun of me or his brother saying we SHOULDN'T be listening to country music because we aren't suthern' hillfolks, then I will have to attack him being "middle aged" and listening to a genre that is geared towards 18-25 year olds. His stereotype is wrong, so I am shooting one back at him! ;D I don't get the nursery rhyme joke though....

I don't get the nursery rhyme joke though.... -All I meant was that all genres of music are OK to like (even exclusively) no matter how old you are. -- Except it would be a little strange if an adult's only musical enjoyment came from nursery rhymes.

OH! DUH!! I swear, I am so out of it sometimes! LOL! So do you understand what I meant up there?

I think a lot of my problem comes from bitterness, because I WANT to be married and all that.. Just haven't found the right person yet. But I realized recently that I was just not cut-out for a "normal" life... There's just too many things I need to accomplish first, and I'm WAY too free-spirited. Well, Pete, thanks for sharing that. It makes me feel so much better about my own bitterness, since mine is for pretty much the same reason as yours. Except I'm quite a bit younger, so my feelings aren't as justifiable as yours. It just sucks to be alone sometimes, doesn't it?

I'm still young too, but I see a whole generation coming up underneath me, and I can't help but sometimes feel my time has passed.. I'm in college everyday, surrounded by young adults who haven't experienced ANYTHING like I have.. I'm envious at times. It's silly, I know, but I'm 33 and have had my heart severly broken TWICE, and have come to realize it's best to think of myself first.. And I think I should drop this topic, because it's depressing me........

I got buddies closer to 40 with NO prospects and I mean for years now! Then my cousin (the one who was close minded about music other than metal) just got married a few years back and he is pushing 40. So don't fret! There's someone out there, just might take awhile to meet them!

I'm really a happy person, I don't want to give the idea that I'm always depressed..

Well, for me it's no contest at all.No offense to Rap fans but I will always prefer Country. It can make you laugh, make you cry and show a true social conscience that-to me at least-Rap just can't.It is the music of the average American....Alabama is a great example of this.

That isn't right. And about your second post there. I'm a happy person too and I don't want people to think I'm depressed because sometimes I piss and moan about the little things. I just know I could be even happier than I am, you know?
