Well stretched!! Here's a cupcake by comparison... Jerry Butler wrote "I've Been Loving You Too Long" with OTIS REDDING. Otis Redding's 1967 hit "Try A Little Tenderness" was covered nearly as successfully two years later by THREE DOG NIGHT. Three Dog Night's hit, SHAMBALA, was actually a cover version of "one hit wonder" B.W. STEVENSON's original release.

I guess songs about Maria (at least in the early '70s) attract guys who have initials instead of names. "Take A Letter Maria" was a hit for R. B. Greaves.

No comment. Let me try this lengty connection. Don Johnson was married in real life to Melanie Griffith, who is now married to Antonio Banderas. Antonio was in Shrek 2, with, among others, Eddie Murphy. Come on, I gotta hear a comment! "LENGTY??" Are you from the east coast? WOW, what a connection! Eddie Murphy recorded Party All the Time with the help of Rick James. RICK JAMES had a group called the Stone City Band, with a name similar to a band fronted by another Rick...it was the Stone Canyon Band, and it was led by RICK NELSON.

Alan - you made a very common mistake. You accidently went to the wrong page of the Artist Linking Game rather than the current one, and linked to an artist that Adam posted in September 2004. The current link is Ken's post above yours, where he linked Gene Chandler to The Beatles

Let's move some more of our long-running games up to the top. Peaches and Herb, with the second Peaches (the late '70s version) were produced by Freddie Perren who also wrote some of their songs. Perren did the same for The Jackson 5.
