One of the Jackson Five's big hits was Never Can Say Goodbye, which was also recorded by Isaac Hayes. Isaac Hayes' "Theme from SHAFT" was also recorded by THE VENTURES. Trying to get this game moving along again, and it was weird to see Isaac Hayes being linked in April, and now he's gone. Anyway ... The Ventures were inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame just this year. In the induction ceremony, they were introduced by John Fogerty.

Metallica scored with a song called "Enter Sandman." Scoring with a song called "In Dreams" which began with the line 'A candy colored clown who's called the Sandman" was Roy Orbision.

Welcome back! Paul Simon was not the Simon they had in mind when "Simon Says" was recorded by The 1910 Fruitgum Company.

The 1910 Fuitgum Company recorded for Buddah Records, along with Gladys Knight and the Pips. Gladys and the Pips sang the original version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine. It went to #2. A year later, Marvin Gaye totally rearranged it and took it to #1.

Sadly, in 1984, Marvin Gaye was shot to death by his own father on April 1 of that year.
Another music artist that passed away in 1984 was ETHEL MERMAN.

Ethel Merman's last appearance in a movie was in AIRPLANE, along with MAUREEN McGOVERN ("The Morning After") as the "Singing Nun". And, Maureen McGovern sang the theme song for the short-lived 1979 sitcom, Angie, which starred Donna Pescow. A couple of years before that, Donna was a star in the film Saturday Night Fever, with a soundtrack heavily featuring the BEE GEES.
