I am also surprised by The Beatles not having at least two 10 mil plus albums. I looked it up. Abbey Road has sold over 12 million copies, and Sgt. Pepper over 11 million. Sources may differ on numbers. I guess so, because my source is very up to date. Oh... and I missed the White album up at 19 million. I once again contend that the Beatles fit the category. - and my source is quoting the RIAA as of 5/16/05. If you have a MORE up to date source, the numbers could only be HIGHER. Could it be that you are looking at cds only?

I got this "trivia" in the liners of a CD that came out like a month ago, so I don't know how much more up to date you can get than that. I don't think there has been a mad rush of Beatles LP sales in the past few months.

I didn't mean there'd been a rush on Beatles albums, I meant that if my data is correct as of 5/13, a more up to date number couldn't have been lower. This list I found is supposedly from RIAA www.infoplease.com/ipea/A0151020.html

That tells us something about the reliability of these kind of lists in general. Yours or mine or both or any we might find!

I looked at the infoplease link, and could only cheat myself. I was surprised to see the Eagles' Greatest Hits TWO with over 11 million. And yes, *N Sync and the Backstreet Boys were there (groups more than "bands"), as well as the Dixie Chicks. Let alone the Beatles. Some groups were listed only once like AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi, Guns 'n Roses, Matchbox 20 and Boyz II Men, but I think they all had another album close to 10 million in sales.
Is your "fifth" "answer" one of those 6 groups I mentioned?
I don't know the EXACT source you used, Adam.

I'm wondering if the Infoplease source is listing sales of any medium: vinyl, tape,, cd. and Adam's source specifies cd sales only.

The Beatles' sales have a lot on vinyl compared to CD. Well, we have Floyd, Zep, Eagles and VH (all I can believe having moved 10 million CDs each)--that fifth one is puzzling us...

He's not answering.
He's got to be there SOMEWHERE, Jim. We've got to find him.
Warp six, Mr. Sulu.
