I guess we should go with Ed, since his answer was first? (I remember "30 Days in the Hole" had some a capella singing, but I don't remember any talking. I did think of "Daydream Believer" when I was coming up with songs. Actually the song that gave me the idea was "Deadbeat Club" by the B-52's.) Anyway, a song that has enjoyed more success as an oldie? Well, tell me if you think this is a good answer--"Tutti Frutti" by Little Richard. This was before my time, but from what I understand, Pat Boone's version was a #1 hit--but Little Richard's version is the one that is well-known these days. (Ed, if this answer doesn't work, I'll go back and change it, ok?) Name a song that was the only top 100 hit for a duo in the '70s. (there are lots of possibilities here) I was thinking of Old Time Rock and Roll, but I think Little Richard's Tutti Frutti fits well. I gotta think about your question a while. The only thing coming to mind quickly is How Do You Do by Mouth and MacNeal, but they had a very minor hit following that. I'll keep on thinking.

Smoke from a distant fire-Sanford Townsend Band (nothing else hit top 100)
I'll go with Adam's question: Name a song inspired from a movie, but not featured in that movie.

I'm glad you went with Adam's question, Dave. I already had an answer for it. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence - Gene Pitney Name a song that features any kind of plant in the title. (No, not a sewage plant - I mean the green kind)

LOL) Very good! You're right, and Andy Kim is one of the people I thought of. I came up with the question while listening to "Take Me In Your Arms" by Kim Weston (this is on a Motown compilation I just bought last week), but I did happen to think--yeah, it could be a first OR last name. Offhand I can't think of an answer for your latest one, and I gotta go back to work now.

I thought of MY question when I remembered that the Doobies take of the song was a cover, but I swear to you, I did not know/remember the original was by a Kim! (And I obviously thought it wasn't a big hit!)

That IS weird! OK, if I'm remembering right, George Harrison's "Got My Mind Set on You" was originally by a black guy (I think his name was James Ray?), but I'm not sure if his version was a hit or not. I don't think it was. So is this a good answer? I'll go ahead and post another question and if my answer here is wrong, I'll change it. Name a song in which the 1-word title is an adjective. (OK, you all remember your parts of speech, don't you? )

Name a song which has 2 different versions by the same artist with 2 different sets of lyrics. (other than "Candle in the Wind"; that's too obvious)

"When Smokey Sings"-ABC Name a song which has 2 different versions by the same artist with 2 different sets of lyrics. (other than "Candle in the Wind"; that's too obvious) There is a song called "Bend It" by Dave-Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick, and Tich - a '60s British Invasion group. They had two different sets of lyrics - one for British audiences and one for US audiences. The British lyrics were said to be too sexually suggestive for American audiences at the time: Here are the british lyrics: Bend it bend it just a little bit and take it easy show you're liking it and lover you know that we're gonna hit the heights 'cause I'm sure that we're made to fit together just like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle what's the hustle Bend it bend it just a little more without you baby I'm so insecure but you can make me feel that I am sure I've got a sickness only you can cure so just relax there's stacks of time but honey please don't tease me try to please me Bend it bend it just a little bit and take it easy show you're liking it and lover you know that we're gonna hit the heights 'cause I'm sure that we're made to fit together just like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle what's the hustle Bend it bend it just a little bit and take it easy show you're liking it and ahh show me now yea that's right oh yea ******************************* I couldn't find the American lyrics on line, but I know they turned it into a dance song, and it started like this: "Bend it, bend it, show me you can move And do the dance that's really in the groove....etc., etc." All the lyrics are totally different. I am fortunate enough to own 45s of both versions. ******************************* Next: name a hit (top 100) song that has the same title as a nursery rhyme.

Next: name a hit (top 100) song that has the same title as a nursery rhyme. Well, let's see...Paul McCartney had a song called "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Stevie Ray Vaughn also had a song with that title. I think the McCartney one may have hit the top 100--am I right? (Let me know) I've never heard "Bend It", but from reading the lyrics it doesn't sound to me like the British version is all that risque. I've heard a lot more risque stuff than that! Actually, I thought of a few: Buckner & Garcia had "Pac-Man Fever" and "Pokemon Fever", both with the same melody. Also, I remember hearing the Beach Boys album "Pet Sounds" on an album rock station, and I think it was a deluxe CD edition or something, but anyway, it had "Hang On to Your Ego" and "I Know There's an Answer", which were the same melody. Next: Name a song in which someone's name is in the title, but not in the lyrics.

Yes, Hang on to Your Ego was the original verison of I Know There's an Answer. But alas, I don't have an answer for your next one.
