If I were Dave, I would insist that all answers were Whitney Houston songs. Away From You - Gerry and the Pacemakers Name a song that today would be considered a rap (no singing; speaking only) , but was recorded before 1980.

No, Laura. If I were Dave, I would insist that all answers were Whitney Houston songs. Actually, I was using the word "Dave" to be synonymous with "anal retentive". Perhaps that is a bit harsh--after all, I can be anal retentive sometimes myself, but about different things. "Hot Rod Lincoln"-Commander Cody (I think someone else recorded it before that, but I don't think I've heard any other versions. Commander Cody's version was about 1972 or thereabouts.) Dave had a question once, "Name a song with a title beginning with T by a band whose name begins with G." That was a good idea, so I'll just pick 2 letters at random: Name a song with a title beginning with R by an artist or group whose name begins with J.

"Sold Me Down the River"-The Alarm
Name a song with a little kid(s)'s speaking voice(s) in it. (note: we already had one about kids laughing--now we need a song with them talking)

I assume you don't mean a song by Guns N Roses. Working My Way Back To You/ Forgive Me Girl - The Spinners. Name a song that even though written by one or more of the Beatles and recorded by the Beatles, was a bigger hit for somebody else.

Had anyone else noticed the irony of BK's backing band? Think about it and let me know if you figured it out. Okay, for this one.................... With the exception of 'The Ramones' and any 'Beatles', name a tune that begins with a count (or countdown, doesn't matter).

First of all, I believe the Dakotas was the name of the apartments in front of which John Lennon was killed. (Actually, my first thought was that the Dakotas' name was ironic because they were actually British but had an American sounding name...)
Anyway, to continue with your question:
"Chico and the Man"-Jose Feliciano (theme from the sitcom of the same name--starts off "a-1, a-2, a-1-2-3-4")
Name a song which mentions coffee in the title and/or lyrics.

You're right about the Dakotas. As for your question, I'll say......... You're so Vain (Carly Simon) Also, there's this tune from the 70's and not quite sure of the title (and artist) but the chorus starts out, "Ohhhhh Linda put the coffee on...." It's a Country/Pop crossover tune ala Kenny Rogers, et al. Next question - Name a song with a ? (question mark) in the title.

"Where's the Walrus?"-Alan Parsons Project
(Just looked at my "Stereotomy" CD to make absolutely SURE this was written with a question mark)
I don't very often do "chart" questions, but here's one I thought would be interesting: Name a song that "bubbled under" the Hot 100 on Billboard, but never hit the Hot 100.
I know of only a few (based on info on CD's), so I would be interested to hear what songs you guys come up with and see if I know 'em.

OK, I'll go ahead and tell you the ones I know of: On Lulu's greatest hits CD, the info shows that "Boy" peaked at #108 in '68 and "After the Feeling is Gone" peaked at #117 in '70. ("Boy", in particular, is a great song IMHO and shoulda been huuuuuuuuuge.) The other "bubbling other the hot 100" song that I know is "Forgive Me (For Giving You Such a Bad Time)" by Babs Tino, which hit #117 in '62. (I have it on a CD called "Early Girls Vol. 2".) Those are the only ones I know of, but there _have_ to be more... Sorry to have stumped you guys (especially since I usually don't do chart-related questions)! Let me come up with another question...I thought of a good one today, but now it's slipped my mind...let me think... "Hey", I remember what it was now! Name a song with the word "hey" in the title.
