Current score:
Dawn 12 KittyKat 11 Pete70s 7 55dodger 3 Sat 2 Laura 1 Everybody Else 0
Well we just completed one of the longest games in Name That Theme history, and we're ready to start the next one. Since today is Saturday, and we're usually a little light in the number of people online on weekends - especially three day ones, we won't lower the point total until Tuesday. -- but we may give an extra minor free clue or two before then.
..and the artists are:
Def Leppard Paul Revere and the Raiders Don Henley
Name That Theme!

Ok ... I'm going to try to think a bit out of the box on this one
If Dirt (Earth) Were Dollars - Don Henley Birds of a Feather (Wind) - Paul Revere and the Raiders Comin' Under Fire - Def Leppard
Earth, Wind & Fire
I'll see if I can see any other similarities ...

Rob ...... The Top 40 rule? I think only the Paul Revere song was top 40. (.. not the right one though). I probably wouldn't go as far in a theme as to use feather or bird for wind anyway. That's too much of a stretch. (The dirt/earth thing - that would be reasonable) Incidentally, I think I did have Earth Wind and Fire as a theme in one of the earlier seasons. Keep on trying though.

Yeah. allmusic.com for whatever reason calls them pop singles and/or Billboard hot 100 depending on the year. The Mainstream Rock is a different poll.

Ok ... I'm not sure about this one but I'll give it a go.
Photograph (Marilyn Monroe) - Def Leppard The End of The Innocence (Ronald Regan) - Don Henley Indian Reservation ... (Indians) - Paul Revere and the Raiders
All songs dealing with Historical figures or people or even songs with Political undertones (Marilyn Monroe and JFK) ...
LOL! My brain is going full tilt now ... could also be ... Ronald Regan was considered a Cowboy and then you have the Indians and of course Marilyn Monroe was a movie star ... so that would be Cowboy and Indian Movies ... LOL!

I had to check some of those references, Rob, and I can barely find them. Apparently MM was seen through a view fider in a picture sleeve or album cover, ... and there is an allusio n to a tired old man who is supposed to be Reagan in Innocence. My reference would not be that obscure, Rob. -- especially that you would then have to take those kinda weak allusions even a step farthee to get Cowboy and Movie Star. I'd never do that. (None of these songs are correct - although you have the top 40 thing down now.) I'll tell ya. For one of the artists. Check out the titles. There is a title there that will give you all you need to know to get the other two songs. Good luck. (Game continues to be worth 5 points)

If "When Love and Hate Collided" hadn't peaked outside the Top 40 I would have guessed ...
When Love and Hate Collide - Def Leppard Leather and Lace - Don Henley Ups and Downs - Paul Revere and the Raiders
... for a theme of songs that reference opposites ... but alas back to the drawing board.
Of course Love Bites might fit in there ... ?

Baseball is a summer sport - hence Boys of Summer ... Strike Outs ... Rger Clemens' nickname is The Rocket ... Ok, yeah I know ...

It's not correct though, and this paricular theme is not as difficult to get. However, if you don't know it, the term Boys of Summer actually comes from a book about the Brooklyn Dodgers of the early '50s. -- But this theme has nothing to do with baseball.
