I'm going to add a rule change to this game. I now give you permission to use sites like Wikipedia or Yahoo to do some research on the groups/singers in question so that I can make it a little bit easier on you guys. Well, maybe there's something specific in the videos, Juggie, but Paula IS a judge on American Idol, and as such, was partially responsible for launching Kelly's career, when Kelly became the 1st American Idol winner.
The only thing I could come up with on the second pair is that they both recorded for Virgin Records .

I can tell you that the first connection is indeed correct, H2. Kelly Clarkson was the first winner of American Idol, where Paula Abdul judged.
The second connection though is not what I'm thinking of. Think of the soundtrack that the 3rd video is from...and how one of the people in the movie might be connected to someone in video 2...

I think that's too big a hint, Juggie. Despite the fact that I had no idea what movie Don't Forget About Me was from, and even when I found it and looked at the list of actors, I had no idea which one was significant or why - still through the magic that is the internet, plus your new rules, I literaly got the connection in less than five minutes. The song Don't You Forget About Me is from the 1985 movie The Breakfast Club (know the song, know the movie, but didn't remember the song was in the movie - and still don't). One of the stars of The Breakfast Club was Emilio Estavez (I guess I knew that, but didn't know why that was important) and Emilio was married to Paula Abdul for a couple of years in the '90s. (I didn't know that either) |

Maybe it was too big of a hint, but I wanted to let everyone here answer at least one, you know? But, I was kind of surprised that you missed it, because when the Simple Minds video first came on, at the bottom of the screen, when the title card appears at the bottom, it clearly states "Breakfast Club soundtrack" within it! (Note to future guessers...title cards can hold clues too!)
At any rate, the connection to recap is as follows...
1/2 - Kelly Clarkson won American Idol, where Paula Abdul was a judge.
2/3 - Paula Abdul was married to Emilio Estevez, who was in the Breakfast Club, where the Simple Minds song was a part of the soundtrack.
