Eric Burdon and the Animals - Monterey Gladys Knight and the Pips - Midnight Train to Georgia (L.A. proved too much for the man) Jan and Dean - The Little Old Lady (from Pasadena) Theme: Cities in California Well, Woody, I actually had San Franciscan Nights for the Animals song, but by the rules of the game since your theme is correct, and Monterrey is a bona fide top 40 song, you are correct. That's two in a row, Woody. -- But did you notice -- Pete is back. It's gonna get interesting. And the score: 55dodger 10 Laura 0 Pete 70s 0 Everybody else DNP Next game starts tomorrow - Wednesday!

I actually like Monterey better, as a song & a city. That's why I thought of it first.

I actually like Monterey better, as a song & a city. That's why I thought of it first. It's a good song and a good city. We spent part of our honeymoon there 31 years ago. We spent the other part in San Francisco. So I could've used either song/city. ;D

We had dinner on the Wharf & did the 17 Mile Drive. Saw all the tourist stuff in SF, did the wine country, even saw a Giants/Braves game at old Candlestick Park. Is this a case of "great minds think alike" or just a freaky coincidence.

It wasn't until I could no longer connect them except for California Cities that I found the lyrics for Midnight Train. There it was, first line.

I almost had the answer, but Gladys Knight stumped me Y'know, Ken, it is perfectly legitimate if you think you might have the right answer, but don't know one of the songs to jump in with what you think it might be. Like if you had said, "I think it's California Cities" Monterrey and Pasedena, but I can't figure out the third one," you'd have gotten probably 4 points. The only risk you run in doing is if you have the wrong theme but a close one. Like if you said the theme is "Cities" - that would be wrong, and you'd likely give someone else a big hint. So there is some strategy. But at this stage of the game, getting on the scoreboard is good.

Well seeing it's you and me, Woody, it's gotta be the great minds thing. ;D We did the 17 mile drive also, and then had lunch at the golf club. We didn't get to wine ciountry that time though. We were back there and did the wine country in 1989. It was 90 degrees in SF (very unusual even in mid-summer) and 95 in the Napa Valley - and it was APRIL!!
