Starting late in the day today.
The score to this point:
55dodger 10 Laura 0 Pete 70s 0 Everybody else DNP
Game #3 will be a six pointer. I will give you FOUR artists. Three make up part of the theme in one way, and the fourth is there in a negative way. You have to use it like it isn't there. Put them together properly and you will have the theme.
... and the artists:
Alice Cooper Neil Diamond Jackie Wilson Jim Croce
Name That Theme!

Brain hurts already. I'll think about it though...
Hmmm...
Alice Cooper - PRETTY BALLERINA Neil Diamond - SWEET CAROLINE Jackie Wilson - REET PETITE (The Finest Girl You Ever Want to Meet) Jim Croce - BIG FAT WOMAN
(I'm probably wrong, but I guess the theme is about women...the first three being about women looked at in a positive sense, with the last one being derogatory.)
Again, I am probably wrong, but wanted to guess at least.

All songs must be top 40 on the Billboard hot 100. Pretty Ballerina, Reet Petite, and Big Fat Woman are not top 40. If you don't have a "Whitburn book of billboard hits, you can go to www.gramble.com/music/top40.htmlto look up artists and songs. Good try, Juggie. Please continue playing.

Okay, I'll take a crack at this one
Alice Cooper - I Never Cry. Specifically the line in the lyrics "I maybe lonely, but I'm never alone" Neil Diamond - Solitary Man Jackie Wilson - Alone at Last Jim Croce - One Less Set of Footsteps
The Theme is Lonely or Lonliness. The Neil, Jackie, & Jim songs imply a sorta voluntary lonliness, while the Alice Cooper song would be the different part, where he's lonely, but never alone. Anyway, may be way off base, but this is my story, and I'm sticking to it.

OK ... 24 hours have passed and we have no winner. So, we deduct one point from 6 to 5 points now being the maximum any one person can score on this round.
And you also get some clues.
1. First of all, of the three people who have made guesses so far, only ONE person got ONE song right (but for the wrong reason, so it's not worth a point.) -- But all it says is one of the correct songs has been mentioned.
2. Of the four songs, only one is a TWO ARE top 10 songS (a couple others are ONE OTHER IS pretty close though)
OK, guys, go to it.

I'll take another swing at this one
Alice Cooper - I Never Cry Neil Diamond - September Morn - (I still can hear you cryin') Jackie Wilson - Lonely Teardrops Jim Croce - Operator (That's Not the Way it Feels) - (There's something in my eyes)
The theme would Crying. The Neil, Jackie, & Jim songs imply they or someone is crying, while Alice Cooper states he never does (the negative).

I made a slight error in one of my clues, though. Check out the next post.

It should read Of the Four songs TWO are top 10 (one more is close). Sorry about that, I hope that didn't screw people up too much. You'll get another clue or two tonight, but with the weekend coming up, and a 3 day one at that I won't deduct another point until Tuesday morning.

OK, here are a couple three additional clues for the long weekend. The maximum score for one player in this game will remain at five until Tuesday's clue.
1. There remains only one correct song ( but for the wrong reason) that one person chose one time.
2. The theme is a phrase/cliche/saying.
3. A component of the theme shows up in three titles (twice on the positive side, and one that has to be used in a negative way.) The other occurence of the positive component is in the lyrics.
Lets get some guesses,, guys.

Unfortunately, your answer is incorrect. -- But a guess made like a true teacher. I hadn't seen your response before I posted my latest clues. And your guesses does not change the clue about only one person getting one correct song one time. In pother words, none of your songs are correct. -- But it probably eliminates some songs that peoople may have been considering. Anyway ... the game continues.
