After that Marathon game last week, let's see if we can get a little more action with the next game.
The score so far:
55dodger 12 Laura 0 Pete 70s 0 Jughead 0 Gremashlo 0 Everybody else DNP
Is anyone at all going to challenge Woody this season?
Todays game:
Paul McCartney (in any of his post-Beatle configurations - including Paul, Paul and Linda, Paul and Wings, just plain Wings) Stevie Wonder (Diana Ross and) The Supremes
Name That Theme!

Hmmm...well, I know all three artists are connected through Stevie, since both Paul and Diana recorded songs with him, but since you're looking for a particular theme, I doubt that would be it.
I'll have to get back to you. I thought I had it figured out, but I doubt my McCartney connection made Top 40.

I'll have to get back to you. I thought I had it figured out, but I doubt my McCartney connection made Top 40. No, Jug, the theme has nothing to do with the fact that the three artists ever sang together or each sang with Stevie. I remember your Three Degrees of Freedom game (which I would like to see you bringing back ), and your connections were often of that type. Name That Theme is different. The theme comes from picking up common words or phrases in the songs themselves. Look at the ones we had so far this year. 1. The theme was "coins". There was a reference to a penny in one song, a nickel in another, and a quarter in another. 2. The Theme was cities in California. One song mentioned Pasedena, another San francisco (or Monterrey - two songs worked here) and the third, LA. 3. The theme was the expression "All Work and No Play". There were four songs (Baby WORKout, WORKin' at the Car Wash Blues, You and Me (with the lyric "when I get home from WORK") and the 'opposite' song (PLAY Me). Another thing. If I list an artist as (Diana Ross and) The Supremes, that means it is a Supremes song either with or without Diana - it is not a Diana solo. If it were a Diana Song I may have said (with or without the Suprmes). Keep on trying though. You don't want Woody to run the table, do you? ;D

I had to actually check to see if Automatically Sunshine was Top 40 - it was (#37) . I'm not sure if I ever heard it.

No, Ken, good try though - and it does get you on the scoreboard as having played (albiet with no points.) Actually Love per se would be an unlikely theme. Probobly 80% of all songs have some relationship with love in one form or another. If it were about love, it would be more specific. -- But it aint about love at all this time. Keep on trying.

Well, my original guess would have been this...
Paul McCartney - WINTER ROSE Stevie Wonder - I JUST CALLED TO SAY I LOVE YOU The Supremes - NATHAN JONES
The connection would have been "Seasons", since the first song has one in the title, and the other two have all 4 seasons mentioned in the lyrics. But, I did research, and my first song didn't even get released!
This is hard!

It is also unusual for me to only have the theme in only one song title. Usually, if there are three songs, the key word or phrase is in at least two of them. -- and don't forget the Top 40 Rule. I won't use a song that did not make the Billboard top 40 on the Hot 100 chart.

Paul McCartney - Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey (Hands across the water) Stevie Wonder - Fingertips Supremes - Back In May Arms Again Theme - Your Arms & Parts that are Attached to It. Hey, Woody! Are you going to give someone else a chance? In the first three seasons of NTT, no one ever started off better than 5-0. You now lead everybody else who has played 17-0. -- and it wasn't like others weren't trying. Both Ken and Juggie had some tries as well as your earlier one, Woody. Well done, my friend. -- and the score 55dodger 17 Laura 0 Pete 70s 0 Jughead 0 Gremashlo 0 Ken 0 Everybody else DNP Next game will start Tomorrow
