54 years ago ZZ Top guitarist and vocalist Dusty Hill is born. (1949)

51 years ago Ramones lead singer Joey Ramone is born. (1952)

42 years ago The Everly Brothers launch their own record label, Caliope, intending "to discover and develop new talent." Their own recordings will continue to be issued exclusively by Warner Brothers. (1961)

34 years ago The Beatles' single "Get Back" is awarded a gold record for sales over 1 million; within a week it hits Number One in the U.S. (1969)

30 years ago Paul Simon releases "Kodachrome." (1973)

27 years ago Rolling Stone member Keith Richards crashes his Bentley into a highway divider in Newton Pagnell, a town 50 miles north of London. Police take various substances from his vehicle and Richards is charged in August with possession of cocaine and marijuana. (1976)

24 years ago Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr perform with Eric Clapton, Denny Laine and Mick Jagger at a wedding reception for Clapton and the former Mrs. Harrison, Patti Boyd. The two married the previous March. (1979)

'Get Back' is a great Beatles rocker! I love Billy Preston's organ solo.

'Kodachrome' is one of my favorite Paul Simon songs.

That must have been an awkward situation for George and Eric, but I admire them for being able to sustain a friendship and celebrate together in spite of that.
