From Reuters:
Charismatic rocker Prince and the late George Harrison are among seven 2004 inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it was announced on Thursday.
Bob Seger, Traffic, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne and The Dells are the other "performer" category inductees to be honored at the 19th annual induction ceremony in New York on March 15.

Damn you for knowing this before me! Actually, I saw the NOMINEES, including all these, but it's great to see the actual INDUCTEES! I wondered when ZZ was gonna make it! And I think years ago, there was talk of having Traffic in ther-I'm glad! Great jazz-rock! Prince, I won't say he doesn't deserve it, but he'll make a spectacle of himself. Seger and Browne are two of those artists that I wondered if they would go in for their writing skills and longevity. I wonder if they feel they have to have a mix, and need to include a soul act each year. I don't know that the Dells really deserve. Rather see the Spinners go in, actually! And George-SO glad to see that! I wondered if they were gonna say he didn't do enough, or have enough hits, but this is great. I just hope it isn't a "pity" election because of his death. Thanks for the news!

A good list of inductees this year. Traffic was a little bit of a surprise, but I'd say they definitely deserve to be included. I was hoping to see Chicago, the Moody Blues, and ELO on the list, but there's always next year.

Why did they surprise you-because they are older than the other acts? Not so much that, but more that their recording span was shorter than the other artists. Great group, though - I really enjoy their music.

But sometimes I think they look at that-artists who made a big impact in a short time. Look at artists like Cream, the Police, Doors, CCR. Artists who had less than 10 albums were were together less than 10 years.

Chicago, the Moody Blues and ELO in the RRHOF??? I'm not holding my breath. Oh they definitely deserve a place...as do the Guess Who and Yes. But sadly, I don't see it happening.

I kept waiting for all of those, plus the Righteous Brothers and they FINALLY went in this past year, so I am holding out hope!!

I don't really keep up with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Things like that aren't really important to me. Kind of like the Oscars. It's nice to see who gets the honor, but it's not the greatest measure of talent out there.

Traffic Wow! very nice to see George Harrison - Excellent! I too was wondering when they were going to include him as a solo artist - but couldn't they have done it when he was alive? Jackson Browne - Very Cool - He's had alot of great music over the years. ZZ Top - Right On Prince - Well I guess that's alright - he has been around a long time. Bob Seger - Kind of suprised about that but I do really like him - does this mean Capitol might release a proper Anthology collection or box set now? I know there is a Volume 2 of a Greatest Hits out at the moment but....

Regarding a proper Seger Anthology, I erad a recent interview and apparently Bob himself is against the idea...preferring to release dribs and drabs instead on one all inclusive set.
"Beautiful Loser" indeed!!
