We are FINALLY getting a new release from Collective Soul (Thanks to Dave for the early tip awhile back!). They are no longer with Atlantic Records and they fired their lead guitarist. The new song has been getting considerable Rock radio play (which is more than their last several singles got) and it's not too bad.
Pearl Jam has a 2 disc collection which is going for $12 at 2 different stores. It's very complete for the most part but because they were so huge and album rockers, there is a couple songs I like that are missing. Otherwise very good.
Ok, I know most of you aren't fans of those 90's acts, but how about a big influence on them? Neil Young has his first single disc compilation. This even includes two CSNY songs (Ohio & Helpless) right up to his 90's hits Rockin' in the Free World. But again, like Pearl Jam, he had a lot of good stuff, and there is at least 3 songs I have heard get radio play not on here-When You Dance You Can Really Love, Harvest and Are You Ready For the Country?
01 Down by the River 02 Cowgirl in the Sand 03 Cinnamon Girl 04 Helpless 05 After the Gold Rush 06 Only Love Can Break Your Heart 07 Southern Man 08 Ohio 09 The Needle and the Damage Done 10 Old Man 11 Heart of Gold 12 Like a Hurricane 13 Comes a Time 14 Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black) 15 Rockin' in the Free World 16 Harvest Moon
BTW-also a box set report coming up shortly.......

The Neil Young collection sounds excellent! Cowgirl in the Sand is a cool song I had forgotten he did - I have it on a Warner compilation 8-track called Superstars of the '70s, but haven't listened to it in a long time.

I was just reading about the Neil Young collection on CD Universe's site last night.
They mentioned in the review how unlike many other classic rock bands (The Beatles, Stones etc) Neil had not had his hits repackaged over and over throughout the years.

The Collective Soul release sounds interesting. I have two of the their CDS (Hints & Dosage).
The Neil Young package certainly looks excellent and I'm a fan of his music. Might have to ask Santa for this.
Not a real big Pearl Jam fan. Might give it a miss.
