Obviously, we have a myriad of songs for the MJ case, but what about other stories??
What made me think of this was hearing a bit of "Don't Fear the Reaper" this morning.
Naturally, this reminded me of the OJ case because when I was living in Iowa and listening (At tiimes) to WLS Chicago one host always platyed that as his "theme" for that case.
(Of course I'm probably the only one who makes such strange associations between news and music, but..)

Hey I didn't know you used to listen to WLS! Cool! But at that point it was all news, correct?

Hey I didn't know you used to listen to WLS! Cool! But at that point it was all news, correct? Yep. All talk, all news. But I understand that like SO MANY of today's talk stations it used to be a rock station. Btw, would you happen to know iif it was ever "boss" radio in the (mid) 60s? Incidentally, our pastor in Iowa had actually won a fully loaded jukebox from WLS(!) in his younger days. (He's a bit younger than me so I suppose this woul've been late 70s- early 80s) I told him he had won my dream prize. (Next to the Million-dollar-giveaway, that is. LOL!)

On a happier note, the song "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang reminds me of the 52 American hostages' freedom.
Add Live's "Lightning Crashes" about the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.
And there were a lot of ones about 9/11/01, notably Alan Jackson's "Where were you when the world stopped turning".

This doesn't quite fit the direct relationship between the event and the music as the songs posted so far have, but in my mind it meets the topic perfectly.
I was in my car on the afternoon of November 22, 1963 when I heard that JFK had been shot. The news bulletin came on the radio just after the station had finished playing the song "You Don't Have To Be A Baby To Cry" by The Caravelles. That song will forever be connected to the death of JFK in my mind.

I know a lot of people who remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they found out about Kennedy being shot. Makes me wonder if anyone would remember where they were if something happened to Bush?

Makes me wonder if anyone would remember where they were if something happened to Bush? Guaranteed, you would always remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard, Lora. I'm sure you have that connection with 9/11 for instance. - I bet we all do.

I know a lot of people who remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they found out about Kennedy being shot. My mother-in-law sure does--she was in labor, giving birth to my husband!
