A new 60's mix CD I burned!

The other day I put a bunch of my recent favorite 60's hits and obscurities (mostly obscurities) on a CD, and I REALLY did a great job, because I haven't been able to stop listening to it! By "recent favorites" I mean mostly songs that were new to me within the past couple of years.. I used one of those new colored CDR's, and it's red (aesthetics are important!). This is the type of music I love to listen to when I'm going to sleep, or when I want to relax and feel good!

Many of you will probably not know a lot of these, but I'm sure Dave and H2 will know most of them, and Dawn and Ken may know a few as well....

I was insulted at first at not being listed as one of the knowledgable experts, but DAMN if I only know 2 songs, and one other by title!

LOL! I would say I am equal with late 60's and early 70's, but I am humbled since meeting up with Clicksters! Their knowledge of songs far excedes mine! Specially Dave!

That is a super compilation of songs, Pete. It seems to be of a similar vein to some of those No One Else Remembers cds that I've burned.

I remember a bunch of yours, but far from all of them.

1-Association-Goodbye Columbus This was from the movie of the same name. I think it may have been the end theme, but I'm not sure. I've only heard it once or twice.

2-Bobby Goldsboro-It's Too Late - Have this on a 45. Not a bad song. Bobby has kinda been forgotten for everything other than "Honey"

3-The Tokens-Portrait Of My Love - Love this one! (Don't know why; it's really a very strange cover of an old standard) Have the 45.

4-Nino Tempo & April Stevens- All strung Out - Barely remember this one.

5-Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood-Ladybird - Have the 45. This is not their best, IMO.

6-The Clique-I'll Hold Out My Hand - Good followup to Sugar On Sunday. I actually have both of these on a Clique album I picked up "in the day" for about 50 cents.

7-Glen Campbell-Guess I'm Dumb - May have heard this once or twice.

8-The Reivers-Constantly (On "White Whale" collection) - don't know this one

9-Beau Brummels-You Tell Me Why - don't know the song

10-Lyme & Cybelle-Follow Me (Warren Zevon's first hit) - Don't know it. (RIP, Warren)

11-Everly Brothers-Gone Gone Gone - One of their lesser hits. I have it on a compilation of their hits.

12-Rockin' Ramrods-Bright Lit Blue Skies (Boston group) - Don't remember the song, but I sure remember the group. Growing up in Boston (I guess mainly late H.S. and college years) they were like the top local group that were always playing somewhere.

13-Sharon Marie-Thinkin' Bout You Baby (Brian Wilson production, early version of "Darlin'") - Don't know it, but I know where you found it.

14-Glenn Yarbrough-Baby The Rain Must Fall - This may have been Glenn's biggest. Kind of an underrated folksinger. Have the 45.

15-Feather-Friends (also On "White Whale" collection) - don't know it.

16-Glen Campbell-True Grit - Inspired by the movie. I know the song, but I don't own it.

17-Gale Garnett-We'll Sing In The Sunshine - I know this one too well. Some idiot used to play it on the jukebox at the Student Union at Tufts every ten minutes. I have the 45.

18-Mary Hopkin-Goodbye - Followed Those were the Days and (I think) Temma Harbour. Good song. Have the 45.

19-Sandy Posey-Single Girl - Have the 45, but never cared for it.

20-Kenny O'Dell-Beautiful People - Kinda a poppy tune. OK not my fave. Have the 45.

21-Raymond Lefevre-Ame Caline (Soul Coaxing) (My favorite instrumental of all time!) - This was out about the same time as Paul Mauriat's Love Is Blue. Two French instrumentals on the charts at the same time. What are the odds? Love Is Blue got all the notoriety, but Soul Coaxing was the better tune. Have the 45.

22-Glen Campbell-Dreams Of The Everyday Housewife - one of the better Glen Campbell songs. Have the 45. (Imagine calling someone an "everyday housewife" today! )

23-Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood-Summer Wine - IMO, the best they ever did as a duo. Have the 45 and on a '60s compilation.

24-Tony Orlando & Dawn-Summer Sand (Early 70's, but I included it anyway) Only heard this a couple of times. Don't own it.

25-Marianne Faithful-Summer Nights - Don't remember this.

26-Mary Hopkin-Temma Harbour - Liked this one a lot. Have the 45.

27-The Intrigues-In A Moment - Don't know it.

28-Darrell Banks-Open The Door To Your Heart - Don't know it.

29-Tower Of Power-So Very Hard To Go (Much later than most of these tracks, but to me it SOUNDS late 60's) - Yeah. This was early 70s, but did sound like many late 60s-early 70s soul ballads. I like it a lot. Have the 45.

Sounds wonderful! Only don't know about 3 or 4 of these. But I'm liking Glen Campbell's music quite a bit the last few years; I should check out this early stuff sometime.

Beau Brummels - You Tell Me Why- Love these guys - excellent track I have a few of the singles and the Rhino CD best of.

Sandy Posey Single Girl - A nice little tune I heard a few years back when I bought a Ktel 50's / 60's vinyl compilation.


Kenny O' Dell - Beautiful People - The 45 was included in a collection that I bought awhile back sold it a while ago.

Gale Garnett - First heard this when I was little.



Association - Haven't heard this for awhile a buddy found the album.



Lyme and Cybelle - I have this on the nuggets box



Mary Hopkins - Goodbye and Temma Harbour - married To producer Tony Visconti for a while I don't think she still is however. I've warmed up to her music quite a bit over the years.


Nancy Sinatra - I love this! heard this when I was little we had the 45 - great stuff:)


Tower of Power - What a band!! amazing stuff - one of their best - my oldest brother is a big fan.

I'm familiar with "Goodbye Columbus" by The Association. It's a great movie. It's hard to find on video, but every now and then I'll see it on cable and I'll watch it.

And I like Glen Campbell, but I'm only familiar with the "70's" Glen Campbell..."Like A Rhinestone Cowboy", and "Southern Nights"...

'Portrait of My Love' - Their version of this is really great!

'We'll Sing in the Sunshine' - Wonderful, folk/pop song from a talented singer. I've always loved it.

'Goodbye' - What an incredible voice she has! I've rarely heard this, which is a shame, because it's an excellent song.

'Dreams of the Everyday Housewife' and 'True Grit' - Great early classics from Glen, although very overlooked on both country and oldies stations nowadays.

'Summer Sand' - Really nice one - I have this on their greatest hits LP.

'In a Moment' - Outstanding soul number, with a nice "beach music" feel.

'So Very Hard to Go' - my favorite of them all! I absolutely love it!
