Ready for another week??
6465. Across the River-Bruce Hornsby 1990 I never understood how he got almost immediate classic rock play. Luckily, the timeless rock station here doesn't play him. Too boring.
6464. The Longest Time-Billy Joel 1984 I know lots of people liked Billy's retro sounding songs, and I respect him for doing it, but the song didn't do much for me.
6463. Anniversary-Robert Plant 1990 I really like the overlooked album (which ended up in cutout bins), but this song was boring.
6462. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man-Prince 1987 Symbol boy strikes again. This stuff was crap compared to his peak stuff.
6461. Will You Still Love Me?-Chicago 1986/87 The first post-Cetera hit. How sad.
6460. Working in a Coal Mine-Lee Dorsey 1966 This is one of those "typical" oldies that just annoys me.
6459. Everytime You Go Away-Paul Young 1985 Ok, but nothing great.
6458. Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr. 1984 This was ok, the first 1000 times. I like the video though.
6457. Radio Clash-Clash 1981 The Clash had some decent tunes, this being my least fave.
6456. Miss You Much-Janet Jackson 1989 My apologies to H2. There is gonna be a lot of Miss Jackson, since I heard so much through my wife.
6455. Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel 1986 Again, I didn't like the singles from this album much. And when this won 4000 video awards, I got WAY sick of it.
6454. After the Lovin'-Engelbert Humperdinck 1976/77 Mid 70's sappy stuff.
6453. Rooty Toot Toot-John Mellencamp 1988 He just lost me on this track.
6452. One Heartbeat-Smokey Robinson 1987 Not up to the stuff with the Miracles, but nice.
6451. Turn the Beat Around-Vickey Sue Robinson 1976 Two Robinson's in a row! Don't remember this from when it was out. But it is my least fave disco tune, by far.
6450. I Am a Rock-Simon & Garfunkel 1966 This was a little more upbeat so I like this more than the previous ranked ones.
6449. Controversy-Prince 1981 Before he hit is big. Better than his late stuff, not as good as his peak.
6448. Dede Dinah-Frankie Avalon 1958 Further proof the British Invasion HAD to happen. Sappy stuff.
6447. Emotion in Motion-Ric Ocasek 1986 This got a fair amount of MTV play, but I liked his other MTV hit better. Not up to par with the other Cars stuff.
6446. This Old Heart of Mine-Rod Stewart with Ronald Isley 1990 I love the original, but adding Rod really whimped it out.
Let's hear it!

6300. I don't know any Bruce Hornsby.
6299. Like a lot of artists, I only know Billy Joel's major hits.
6298. I've never really listened to Robert Plant. Don't care for him.
6297. Never heard of it.
6296. I'm not that big on Chicago either. I don't know this song.
6295. Cute, but kind of annoying after a while.
6294. Love it. Just my kind of music. Light, poppy, and sappy.
6293. The song got kind of old after a while, but I still love "Who ya gonna call? Ghost busters!"
6292. Don't know it.
6291. Another early Janet tune that I'm not familiar with.
6290. Ick. I HATE this song with a burning passion. It's awful and I can't stand it. And the video was really strange. I didn't get it.
6289. Never heard anything by Mr. Humpywhatever.
6288. Don't know it, but it sounds lame.
6287. I don't know this one.
6286. I prefer Gloria Estefan's cover, but this one's decent.
6285. Don't know it.
6284. Don't know anything this early by Prince.
6283. Never heard it, but I'd probably like it. I love Frankie Avalon.
6282. Don't know it.
6281. Don't know it.

6300. Across the River-Bruce Hornsby 1990 Liked his first two hits, kinda. Didn't care for anything else. 6299. The Longest Time-Billy Joel 1984 LOVE IT!! Top 250 easily! Probably the greatest doo wop song of the '80s. (Maybe the only Doo Wop song of the '80s?? ) 6298. Anniversary-Robert Plant 1990 Don't know it. 6297. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man-Prince 1987 Don't know it. (I was actively avoiding Prince or Symbol at this time). 6296. Will You Still Love Me?-Chicago 1986/87 Really like it. Cetera or not. It SOUNDED like Cetera was still there, I thought. My second top 250 on your list today. LOVE that long ending. 6295. Working in a Coal Mine-Lee Dorsey 1966 "Typical" is right, Adam. This song was nothing in '66, but they kept on playing it, and it's nothing now, and they STILL keep on playing it. 6294. Everytime You Go Away-Paul Young 1985 Catchy. I used to find myself humming it. But not a great song. 6293. Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr. 1984 This song got old fast. 6292. Radio Clash-Clash 1981 Don't remember this one. 6291. Miss You Much-Janet Jackson 1989 Hey, Bud. It's your list, and you can put any song on your wife wants you to.-- Uh I mean that YOU want to. Just kidding. Actually, of all of Janet's songs, I hate this one slightly less than the rest. 6290. Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel 1986 Don't care for it. 6289. After the Lovin'-Engelbert Humperdinck 1976/77 If someone had asked me, I would have thought that this was a lot earlier - like late '60s. I guess I had never thought of him having hits over so long a span of time. Anyway, I really don't care for this one. 6288. Rooty Toot Toot-John Mellencamp 1988 Don't know it. 6287. One Heartbeat-Smokey Robinson 1987 I'm sure I know this song, but I can't place it. 6286. Turn the Beat Around-Vickey Sue Robinson 1976 Actually, I don't hate this as much as I do most disco. 6285. I Am a Rock-Simon & Garfunkel 1966 Not bad; not their best. 6284. Controversy-Prince 1981 Don't know this 6283. Dede Dinah-Frankie Avalon 1958 Of the Philly boys, Frankie was more talented than Fabian, but less so than Bobby Rydell. (Bobby ahd a good voice and could carry a tune, Frankie could carry a tune but didn't have much of a voice, and Fabian was kind to his mother.) I remember Frankie being interviewed back in '58 (maybe on Bandstand, maybe not). He said that when he recorded Dede Dinah, he sang while holding his nose. No joke! The song had a decent sax, but that's about it. 6282. Emotion in Motion-Ric Ocasek 1986 This is one of those songs that when you start to listen to it for the first time you think, hey this is going to be good. Then it isn't, and you're bummed. That's how this song has always hit me, for some reason. 6281. This Old Heart of Mine-Rod Stewart with Ronald Isley 1990 I also prefer the Isley original.

6300. Across the River-Bruce Hornsby 1990 Don't remember it.. 6299. The Longest Time-Billy Joel 1984 Beeeely Joel... This isn't one of my favorites by him. 6298. Anniversary-Robert Plant 1990 "Watching You" was the only Manic Nirvana track I really liked. 6297. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man-Prince 1987 Totally missed it.. Must be forgettable. 6296. Will You Still Love Me?-Chicago 1986/87 Nothing they've done since Cetera left has caught my ear. 6295. Working in a Coal Mine-Lee Dorsey 1966 So-so 6294. Everytime You Go Away-Paul Young 1985 "Come Back And Stay" all the way! 6293. Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr. 1984 When this song was current, we had an assembly in our school because our class was doing some fund-raiser, selling these cheap looking plastic "stained glass" things. My best friend and I sat there talking about how junky they looked, and I started singing "Who you gon' call? JUNKBUSTERS!" and we kept singing, "I ain't sellin' no JUNK!". We actually made up a parody of the song, but I've forgotten most of it! 6292. Radio Clash-Clash 1981 YES!! Great one! 6291. Miss You Much-Janet Jackson 1989 THIS kept BOTH The Cure's "Love Song" and Tears For Fears "Sowing The Seeds Of Love" out of #1. That is reason enough for me not to like it.. 6290. Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel 1986 I liked it when it came out, but once I got the So album this was the first tune I burned out on. Now I don't mind it once in awhile. 6289. After the Lovin'-Engelbert Humperdinck 1976/77 BLEEEECH Schmaltz City! I'm still trying to find something by Englenook Whatshisdink that I actually LIKE.. No such luck yet.. 6288. Rooty Toot Toot-John Mellencamp 1988 Don't know it. 6287. One Heartbeat-Smokey Robinson 1987 Not bad.. 6286. Turn the Beat Around-Vickey Sue Robinson 1976 I remember when it was current. I liked it a lot then, but I got sick of it over the years.. 6285. I Am a Rock-Simon & Garfunkel 1966 Good one. 6284. Controversy-Prince 1981 Decent.. 6283. Dede Dinah-Frankie Avalon 1958 No thanks! 6282. Emotion in Motion-Ric Ocasek 1986 eh... 6281. This Old Heart of Mine-Rod Stewart with Ronald Isley 1990 Original all the way..... Rod sucked in the late 80's/90's!

Rod sucked in the late 80's/90's! 6296. I can think of 2 post Cetera songs that are bearable, but overall, YUK. The last truly great Chicago song was No Tell Lover. 6289. Schmaltz! That was the word I was searching for! Hey, did you get "Whathisdink" from Archie Bunker? 6281. I won't make any jokes about how Rod "sucked" in the 70's!

6300. Across the River-Bruce Hornsby 1990 I really like Bruce Hornsby. He doesn't get a lot of airplay these days for his newer stuff which is unfortunate. He's had better songs than this one though.
6299. The Longest Time-Billy Joel 1984 I never really liked this one or Uptown Girl.
6298. Anniversary-Robert Plant 1990 I don't know this one.
6297. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man-Prince 1987 You never hear this song anymore. Just okay.
6296. Will You Still Love Me?-Chicago 1986/87 Bland blah blechy
6295. Working in a Coal Mine-Lee Dorsey 1966 I like the Devo version
6294. Everytime You Go Away-Paul Young 1985 Totally overplayed at the time but I can't say that I hate it.
6293. Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr. 1984 Hate it.
6292. Radio Clash-Clash 1981 Love it.
6291. Miss You Much-Janet Jackson 1989 I like a lot of Janet's stuff - you just haven't listed any yet.
6290. Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel 1986 The weakest track on that album IMO.
6289. After the Lovin'-Engelbert Humperdinck 1976/77 Did this really come out in 76? I thought it was an earlier hit. LAME stuff.
6288. Rooty Toot Toot-John Mellencamp 1988 "He just lost me on this track." Me too.
6287. One Heartbeat-Smokey Robinson 1987 Not my fave from him.
6286. Turn the Beat Around-Vickey Sue Robinson 1976 Funny, this is probably my FAVORITE disco song. I even like the Gloria Estefan version. RIP Vicky Sue Robinson. She was one of the few disco artists that wrote her own songs and songs for other people so she made a comfortable living off royalties etc.
6285. I Am a Rock-Simon & Garfunkel 1966 I like this song.
6284. Controversy-Prince 1981 Not one of my faves from his early stuff but ok.
6283. Dede Dinah-Frankie Avalon 1958 Ugggh.
6282. Emotion in Motion-Ric Ocasek 1986 Pales in comparison to the Cars ouvre but an ok track.
6281. This Old Heart of Mine-Rod Stewart with Ronald Isley 1990 The original is better. I'm not sure I ever understood why they remade this.

6300 - Had a listen to it - I didn't mind it at all , I don't remember hearing it at the time though.
6299 - I really dug the harmonies on this - so much in fact I bought the 45 at the time.
6298 - Not familiar with it.
6297 - Like I mentioned before after batdance (yikes) and especially the duet with Sheena Easton (just wrong!) I just didn't bother to listen anymore.
6296 - I'm sure this is on the Rhino anthology but It's not coming to me right at the moment.
6295 - This has kind of grown on me over the years but at first along with Sugar Shack - which still irritates me. I just didn't get it..
6294 - I enjoyed his cover.
6293 - I also really enjoyed the video - I just recently saw it again on a repeat of Pop Up video. Loved the tune at first as well but then they started playing it into the ground ,but it's nice to hear again now after all this time.
6292 - This is one that I've only heard once or twice. I'm actually suprised that my classic rock station doesn't play it more because they do play quite a few of their tunes.
6291 - eh - nothing special but I guess compared to the stuff she's been releasing in the last few years, which is really just bad.
6290 Thought it was very catchy but yeah the video was played alot on the video channels.
6289 - Can you imagine listening to this and Feelings back to back, oh the torture ! nooooo! LOL
6288 - I thought it was really catchy but couldn't he have thought of a better song title?
6287 - Don't recall this one.
6286 - Thought it was good - great percussion, although there were better , I heard it quite a bit at the time.
6285 - Love it
6284 - Nope .
6283 - Just saw Frankie yesterday on an infomercial for a 50's /60's CD set. I've heard few of his tunes but not this one.
6282 - I love this tune:) remember seeing the video a few times I even have it on tape . I found the 45 a few years ago at a swap meet and included the song on a mix CD.
6281 - I also prefer the original so much more- but I thought it was ok

Ready for another week!
6300. Across the River-Bruce Hornsby 1990 In my area, he gets more "lite" play than classic rock play. A fine and talented artist, but his first two albums were just better.
6299. The Longest Time-Billy Joel 1984 One of my 3 faves from "Innocent man". Always thought the backing vocals were reminiscent of "Mr. Sandman".
6298. Anniversary-Robert Plant 1990 Funny, know the Tony Toni Tone song of that title, but not this.
6297. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man-Prince 1987 This got good play on one of my top 40 stations as early as summer '87, but didn't peak till early '88.
6296. Will You Still Love Me?-Chicago 1986/87 After the remake of 25 or 6 to 4 flopped, I thought this wouldn't have a chance. Was I wrong. Much schmaltzier than Engelbert.
6295. Working in a Coal Mine-Lee Dorsey 1966 I never tire of it, but I LOVE Devo's remake!
6294. Everytime You Go Away-Paul Young 1985 For a long time, I preferred the album version. Any version's all right today with me.
6293. Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr. 1984 WAY up in my CRAZY list. WAAAAAYYY up. See caption underneath my avatar.
6292. Radio Clash-Clash 1981 Not the biggest fan, but this is fine. RIP Joe.
6291. Miss You Much-Janet Jackson 1989 One of her best. Right this very second, I'm listening to "Got till it's gone" (Sorry Ken).
6290. Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel 1986 See Ghostbusters comment. Maybe the best video in history. If anyone insists those crap rap videos of today are better, I would SERIOUSLY assassinate them.
6289. After the Lovin'-Engelbert Humperdinck 1976/77 His only decent tune. A nice addition to Rhino's Super Hits of the 80's series.
6288. Rooty Toot Toot-John Mellencamp 1988 Never lost me on it. In fact, one of my cooking class mates used to like singing this right before graduation!
6287. One Heartbeat-Smokey Robinson 1987 This is great, not quite overplayed like "Just to see her".
6286. Turn the Beat Around-Vickey Sue Robinson 1976 Sorry, Sat. An eternal fave recurrent of mine. Sad to lose her WAY too early (even appeared on some early TV "disco specials").
6285. I Am a Rock-Simon & Garfunkel 1966 Easily my least fave of their hits. I'd rather hear "Islands in the stream".
6284. Controversy-Prince 1981 Not yet the high profile star here. Good one.
6283. Dede Dinah-Frankie Avalon 1958 Total guilty pleasure. Better than most of his hits.
6282. Emotion in Motion-Ric Ocasek 1986 Like this far less than his other 2 HOT 100 hits. That intro BUGS me.
6281. This Old Heart of Mine-Rod Stewart with Ronald Isley 1990 Any version's fine, and this was MUCH better than Rod's solo version from 1975/76. Almost as wonderful as the original; this and "Motown song" are my top 2 post-Infatuation songs of Rod's.

6300. Across the River-Bruce Hornsby 1990 A friend of mine went to see him a few years ago. Front row seats. She fell asleep. 6299. The Longest Time-Billy Joel 1984 I'm not a huge fan of this one, but I like a capella music. 6298. Anniversary-Robert Plant 1990 I'm not familiar with this one. 6297. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man-Prince 1987 I love this one - beats the heck out of the slow ballady version that Jordan Knight did. 6296. Will You Still Love Me?-Chicago 1986/87 Blah. 6295. Working in a Coal Mine-Lee Dorsey 1966 This one is annoying but not as annoying as the version done in the 80's by Oingo Boingo or one of those groups. There's a voice that comes on in between verses and says "Oh boy. I am SOOOO tired. How long can this go on?" - you have to hear it to understand it's total annoyance. 6294. Everytime You Go Away-Paul Young 1985 I like this one. 6293. Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr. 1984 I DON'T like the video. I saw it before the movie and thought that all those celebrities were in it. I liked the movie, but big disappointment! 6292. Radio Clash-Clash 1981 I love this one! 6291. Miss You Much-Janet Jackson 1989 Janet pretty much makes me want to hurl. Al does this in one of his polka medlies (on Off The Deep End) - he makes it more tolerable. 6290. Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel 1986 The video was a bit overkilled but very groundbreaking. I like this song. 6289. After the Lovin'-Engelbert Humperdinck 1976/77 Ew. 6288. Rooty Toot Toot-John Mellencamp 1988 Um......Kay? 6287. One Heartbeat-Smokey Robinson 1987 I like this one - not as good as some of his other solo stuff but not bad. 6286. Turn the Beat Around-Vickey Sue Robinson 1976 It's not horrible, but there are much better disco songs. There are some wore than this one, Fly Robin Fly for example........ 6285. I Am a Rock-Simon & Garfunkel 1966 Love this one! 6284. Controversy-Prince 1981 Eh - it's ok. 6283. Dede Dinah-Frankie Avalon 1958 Never heard it. 6282. Emotion in Motion-Ric Ocasek 1986 I LOVE this one - such a pretty song. "I'll hold on to you, 'til the stars no longer wink, I'll hold on to you...." 6281. This Old Heart of Mine-Rod Stewart with Ronald Isley 1990 The original is great, but Rod made it kind of sucky. I don't like any of his stabs at Motown.

6300. Across the River-Bruce Hornsby 1990 I like his earlier material, but can't place this one.
6299. The Longest Time-Billy Joel 1984 I never really liked this much - one of my lesser faves of his.
6298. Anniversary-Robert Plant 1990 Not familiar with this one.
6297. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man-Prince 1987 This one's okay, but not one of his better ones.
6296. Will You Still Love Me?-Chicago 1986/87 One of the better post-Cetera songs, but nowhere near their best work.
6295. Working in a Coal Mine-Lee Dorsey 1966 I agree about this being a typical oldie. Not bad, but not a favorite.
6294. Everytime You Go Away-Paul Young 1985 It's okay, but he had better ones.
6293. Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr. 1984 I like this, but agree that it's been overplayed. I didn't like the movie at all, and yet I saw it twice at the theater!
6292. Radio Clash-Clash 1981 I don't think I'd heard this one of theirs.
6291. Miss You Much-Janet Jackson 1989 I've never been crazy about this one.
6290. Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel 1986 Love this one! It's probably my favorite of all his solo tunes.
6289. After the Lovin'-Engelbert Humperdinck 1976/77 I've always liked this one a lot. I remember hearing it lots back in late '76, along with songs like 'Don't Fear the Reaper' and 'Magic Man' - radio was so cool back in those days!
6288. Rooty Toot Toot-John Mellencamp 1988 I'm not as familiar with his late 80s material as his earlier songs - can't place it.
6287. One Heartbeat-Smokey Robinson 1987 I always enjoy Smokey's music. Nicely done.
6286. Turn the Beat Around-Vickey Sue Robinson 1976 Another childhood favorite! Love it!
6285. I Am a Rock-Simon & Garfunkel 1966 This used to be one of my favorites of theirs. I still like it, but not as much as I used to.
6284. Controversy-Prince 1981 This one's pretty good, not heard very much though.
6283. Dede Dinah-Frankie Avalon 1958 Not my cup of tea.
6282. Emotion in Motion-Ric Ocasek 1986 I like this more now than I did when it was current. But you're right, his work with the Cars is better.
6281. This Old Heart of Mine-Rod Stewart with Ronald Isley 1990 I've gone back and forth about this one over the years. Not bad, but I prefer the original also.

Actually, although I can't sit through an entire Chicago LP since Chicago VIII, there has been a song or two in the early 80's that I liked. "Love Me Tomorrow", "Hard To Say I'm Sorry/Getaway", "Stay The Night", and "Along Comes A Woman" are all songs I liked. I just hated when they went into that "canned 80's sound". Re: Archie Bunker... You got it! I had a feeling you'd get the reference!

Across the River--Hornsby's songs are all pretty much interchangeable to me. They all sound alike.
The Longest Time--I like it. A great "sing along" song.
Anniversary--Nope. Don't know it.
I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man--I had just about given up on Prince at this point. I'll pass.
Will You Still Love Me--Not bad, but not a favorite. Tolerable, I guess.
Working in a Coal Mine--For some reason, I never get tired of this.
Every Time You Go Away--I like this one a lot. Always liked Paul Young.
Ghostbusters--A fun song when it was current. Now it's just annoying. I agree with you about the video. I like it.
Radio Clash--Doesn't sound familiar.
Miss You Much--This was pretty good.
Sledgehammer--Good song. Cool video.
After the Lovin--Icko yucko.
Rooty Toot Toot--It was all right, but not the best thing he's ever done.
One Heartbeat--Don't like it at all. Sap city.
Turn the Beat Around--This is good. I enjoy it.
I Am a Rock--Like it a lot.
Controversy--Barely remember this, but I think it's pretty good.
DeDe Dinah--No thanks.
Emotion in Motion--Can you say "boring"?
This Old Heart of Mine--Twas ok. Nuttin' special.
