Here's the last installment for this first year of my list. I hope you guys somewhat enjoyed reading these. I sure have appreciated your comments. THANKS!
Get ready for 1976 next week...
15. "Chico And The Man" - Jose Feliciano – Ok, I know a lot of you are scratching your heads about this one. I loved this song as a kid and my uncle used to play it for me on his guitar and sing it. I get really nostalgic when I hear it. It was a great tv show too!
14. "Please Mr. Please" - Olivia Newton-John - I just saw her in concert a couple of weeks ago and she sounded just as beautiful singing this as she did when I first heard it.
13."Could It Be Magic" - Barry Manilow – In my top 5 Barry songs. Amazing piano and the yearning sound in his voice is so moving.
12. "Lady Marmalade" – LaBelle – This is one that my mom loved to groove out to in the kitchen. There’s an old audio recording of me singing the beginning bars of this song that my dad likes to embarrass me by playing.
11. "Love Will Keep Us Together" - The Captain & Tennille – A classic. Makes you just feel good inside.
10. "Midnight Blue" - Melissa Manchester – A fave of my mom’s that she actually sang in her little cover band.
9. "I'm Not In Love" - 10cc – Probably in my top 100 songs of all time. I never get tired of listening to it.
8. "Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)" - The Bee Gees – A stellar pop song from the Brothers Gibb. Another song that was played a lot on the turntable.
7. “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” – Rod Stewart – A heartbreaking ballad from the Atlantic Crossing album. Like “Sailing” , this was one of the first songs I learned to play and sing on my own.
6. “It Makes No Difference” – The Band – Rick Danko's voice just blows me away on this song. It’s one of those songs that I’ve played on a continuous loop during bad break-ups.
5. "Evil Woman" - The Electric Light Orchestra – ELO was a huge part of childhood for me. My dad played the hell out of them. Expect many more songs from them on these lists.
4. "Miracles" - Jefferson Starship – I just love Marty Balin’s voice on this song. A lot of memories attached to it.
3. “At Seventeen” – Janis Ian – I used to cry a little when I listened to this song. Especially years later in junior high when it took on more meaning. A classic that’s still just as poignant today.
2. "Philadelphia Freedom" - Elton John – This might be my favorite Elton song. I have strong childhood memories associated with a lot of his music but this one especially. These days, it’s one of my favorite things to sing at karaoke.
1. "Nights On Broadway" - The Bee Gees – I think I’ve mentioned quite a few times how much I love this song. I never get tired of hearing it.
