Who????????

Do you have an artist or group amongst your collection that you swear you are the only fan of? That you had a hard time getting cd's for? That no one else has ever heard of? If yes, how did you find them?

I'm not necessarily speaking of one hit wonders exclusively, but also underground groups, or other oddities.

For me, that's Army Of Lovers. I have yet to find another person who knows who they are.

They're Swedish. They have the Euro Techno sound. It's realy hard to explain. I found them, believe it or not, through Beavis and Butthead. They were making fun of one of their videos big time. There's a sexy girl (La Camilla) in the video first, and they were all happy about it (YES, YES, YES!!!)


Then the lead singer (who's a bit flaming, I think) comes on the screen (NO, NO, NO!!!)

Then you can see him in the bathtub.

They begin pleading with him to not stand up.

The first time, I laughed along, but the 2nd and 3rd time, I began to listen to the music, and found I loved the song.

I found out their name, and the song, which was Crucified, and the album, which was Massive Luxury Overdose - an excellent album.

I was dating my husband, and he attempted to get me the tape. He had a heck of atime. He finally had it imported throught TLM Records, which is no more. Every where he went, he got blank stares.

I had to special order their greatest hits "Les Greatest Hits". I lost the tape, and decided to make the jump to the GH package for CD since I knew I'd have a devil of a time getting one. I'd post the cover, but it's a tad perverted, and I don't want to offend anyone.

So that's mine. They're probably not anyone here's cup of tea, but it's definately different.

Great post Railyn. For me I think the 2 groups that I still get that blank stare from people when I mention them are:

• Aztec Camera
• All About Eve

I became acquainted with both groups when I was in junior high and early high school years.

The first time I heard Azec Camera actually has a funny story attached to it. I was 14 and completely in love with this boy named James who I had followed into a record store one day with my best friend. So there I was kind of stalking him in the aisles, when he suddenly came up to me and started talking to me. I was completely mortified and when he asked me what music I was looking at (Music? Who's looking at music?) I grabbed the first record I saw and thrust it at him. He seemed kind of impressed and of course I had to buy it. Anyway, I warily put it on my turntable when I got home and promptly FELL IN LOVE and have loved them ever since. The album was High Land , Hard Rain and was a perfect piece of jazzy brit-pop.

All About Eve is another British band that my friend Sarah and I discovered when we were visiting the UK when we were 17. I think they were big over there but I'm not sure. The lead singer was this woman named Julianne Reagan who has this magical voice that's like a cross between Enya and Olivia Newton John. As much as I listened to them in my late teen years they had fallen off my radar until a few years ago when I was trying to make a list of songs for a cd mix that I was making for a highschool reunion party and I suddenly remembered them and how much I loved their stuff. It's been fun getting to know them again.

Mine don't nearly compare to both of yours, but when I say Judy Garland, people are like, "Who?" But once I say "She played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz", I get a collective "oooooooooh" from everyone around.

Hmmmmmmm, I don't have any artists that NO ONE knows, but many of the country artists I like are unknown to most people on the Click, like the Kinleys and Carolyn Dawn Johnson.

Otherwise, I have a few that, again, aren't TOTALLY unknown, like Angel, Zebra and the Cryan' Shames.

It's fun knowing artists most others don't!
