Well HOPEFULLY some people will be back today after a lull last week??
6000. Let's Stay Together-Al Green 1971/72
Not too big on Al. I know he is well respected in the R&B world, it's just not my style.
5999. Round Here-Counting Crows 1993/94
Seems like they were huge and then gone, sorta like Hootie. They were sort of "safe rock" in an era with grunge and metal.
5998. Quicksand Jesus-Skid Row 1991
Discovered this after the fact. Saw this tape for .99 at Best Buy, and Bekki told me to get it. I had only been familiar with the first album. Now Sebastian Bach is on Gilmore Girls! LMAO!
5997. Cry For a Shadow-Beatles 1961/95
Recorded in 61, showed up on countless bootlegs and on some of those German recordings. Finally put on the Anthology. Written by John and George! Instrumental.
5996. Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues-Beatles 1969/96
Remember seeing this on bootlegs for years and couldn't imagine how a song like that would go. Finally found out it was a Buddy Holly tune. One of his many they did, and helped inspire me to get Buddy's greatest hits. Put out on the second Anthology.
5995. Wipe Out-Surfaris 1963/66
One of those "typical oldies" I am sick of. But hey, at least it's not the Fat Boys!
5994. Maxwell's Silver Hammer-Beatles 1969
I'm with George and John in calling this a "fruity" song. I'd be sick of it to, after playing it 100 times with perfectionist Paul!
5993. Runaway-Cher 1998
One of countless songs with this title. I actually learned many songs from this album because Bekki played the CD a lot.
5992. All the Things She Said-Simple Minds 1986
I thought the two singles after Don't You were kindof disappointments.
5991. Sweet Nothin's-Brenda Lee 1959/60
One of only 5 artists to be in both the Rock and Country Halls! This one is ok, nothing special. Or Nothin' special.
5990. Happy Days-Pratt & McClain 1976
Am I the only one who grew up thinking the Fonz sang the theme song? Actually don't ever remember hearing this on the radio.
5989. Distractions-Paul McCartney 1989
Embarrassingly bad. "Like butterflies buzzin' 'round my head." What was he thinking?
5988. I Wanna Be Free (Slow version)-Monkees 1966
This is the slower version, which was on the first album. For my money, the upbeat version was much better, used in episode 1, and it showed up later on, what else, Missing Links Volume 2.
5987. All For Lena-Billy Joel 1980
Not a bad tune. I should get Glass Houses, still don't have it after all these years.
5986. Variety Tonight-REO Speedwagon 1987
One of the later singles from this album. They were pretty much done at this point.
5985. Barbara Ann-Beach Boys 1966
Another typical oldie. My uncle, who owns like 2 albums to his name, was singing this on a microphone at my brother's wedding. 'Nuff said.
5984. Up All Night-Joe Walsh 1991
Bought Joe's Ordinary Average Guy album on cassette for a buck. I liked it through and through. This is a not too bad song.
5983. Getting to the Point-E.L.O. 1986
A later album cut I never knew until the box set. Doesn't measure up to their earlier stuff.
5982. You're Only Human (Second Wind)-Billy Joel 1985
Nice sentiment, but so corny. Had few songs after this that I could tolerate.
5981. Stagefright-Def Leppard 1983
One of the album cuts on one of my first tapes. Bought it off a guy for $4 and thought I was getting a deal!
Have at it!
