I'm still adding songs. Added just in time too, since 2 appear on today's list! 5940. Black or White-Michael Jackson 1992 This really shouldn't be this high. I liked the music more than the singing. Ever see the spoof on In Living Color? HILARIOUS! "I made a million by the time I was ten, I made a love song to a rat named Ben." Too funny! 5939. Steppin' in a Slide Zone-Moody Blues 1978 I think I first saw this in a promo clip on their Legend of a Band video. Not band, but not as good as their early stuff, or even The Voice. 5938. Only Sixteen-Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show 1976 Complete opposite of something like The Cover of Rolling Stone. Sorta lightweight. 5937. When Smokey Sings-ABC 1987 They had worn out their welcome at this point. Gimmie The Look of Love. 5936. I Say a Little Prayer-Aretha Franklin 1968 I never remember which got more airplay, her's or Dionne's. No matter; decent song, nothing outstanding. 5935. Love is Strong-Rolling Stones 1994 Not as big as when Mixed Emotions came out, but I still remember VH-1 making a HUGE deal out of this. Got sick of it. 5934. Crazy Crazy Nights-Kiss 1987 No offense to Kiss fans, but I thought this song and video were SO dorky! The earlier 80's stuff was good. 5933. Alley-Oop-Hollywood Argyles 1960 Another novelty tune from the time. Couldn't they be serious about ANYTHING back then?? 5932. Please Remember Me-Tim McGraw 1999 (new addition) I've said before many times, I'm not that big on the country men. Some songs are passable. Tim himself annoys me though. 5931. The Heart of the Matter-Don Henley 1990 I really liked the songs on this album at first, but after awhile, they wore thin. 5930. Do You Love Me?-Contours 1962 As a kid, this song was a blast. But DAMN Dirty Dancing for ruining it! Uh....not that I ever saw that chick flick!! 5929. She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy-Kenny Chesney 1999 (new addition) Tim's best buddy annoys me too! What an annoying title too! The song is passable though. 5928. Gonna Fly Now-Bill Conti 1977 The famous Rocky theme. Don't we all jog and pump iron to this? No? Oh, me neither. 5927. Too Rolling Stoned-Robin Trower 1974 Just heard this song by the former Procol Harum guitarist on a "Deep Cuts" weekend on the rock station. Too bluesy for me. 5926. Shinin' On-Grand Funk Railroad 1974 At this point, I think they dropped the Railroad. This was a decent rocker, but not up to their classics. 5925. Rubber Ball-Bobby Vee 1960/61 Another Bobby sighting. Can you imagine someone covering this today? 5924. Would I Lie to You?-Eurythmics 1985 None of their stuff was awful, but there was only one or two songs I truly liked. 5923. Personal Property-Def Leppard 1992 A formulatic Mutt Lange album cut from their 92 release. 5922. What I Like About You-Romantics 1980 As well known as this is, it did nothing on the charts. Just got sick of the constant play of this one over the years. 5921. The Great Pretender-Platters 1955/56 Pre-rock sounding song. Thus, not my style. Have at it!

5940. Black or White-Michael Jackson 1992 Don't know it.
5939. Steppin' in a Slide Zone-Moody Blues 1978 Think I've heard it -- but maybe not.
5938. Only Sixteen-Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show 1976 Love it!! All time top 250. It's a cover of an old Sam Cooke hit, and IMO, it blows Sam's version away -- and that is not easy to do.
5937. When Smokey Sings-ABC 1987 Wasn't bad. Tribute songs weren't big back then. This paved the way, somewhat.
5936. I Say a Little Prayer-Aretha Franklin 1968 I like most '60s Aretha, but I prefer Dionne's version of this one.
5935. Love is Strong-Rolling Stones 1994 Don't know it
5934. Crazy Crazy Nights-Kiss 1987 May have heard it, but can't place it.
5933. Alley-Oop-Hollywood Argyles 1960 Good point about novelties in the early sixties, Adam. This was based on the Alley Oop comic strip. The song was just so-so. -- Did you know that there was even a spoof on a novelty? A group called the Hong Kong White Sox (spoof on the Hollywood Argyles name itself) did a song called Cholly Oop. Definitely not PC by today's standards.
5932. Please Remember Me-Tim McGraw 1999 Don't know it.
5931. The Heart of the Matter-Don Henley 1990 Love it! Love the full up Eagles version on Hell Freezes Over even more. -- But why didn't Don title this "Forgiveness" ??
5930. Do You Love Me?-Contours 1962 Never really cared for it that much.
5929. She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy-Kenny Chesney 1999 Don't know it.
5928. Gonna Fly Now-Bill Conti 1977 Got waaayyyy overplayed.
5927. Too Rolling Stoned-Robin Trower 1974 Don't know it.
5926. Shinin' On-Grand Funk Railroad 1974 I agree. Not their best.
5925. Rubber Ball-Bobby Vee 1960/61 Great memories for me, if not a great song. The memories sneak it in to my top 250.
5924. Would I Lie to You?-Eurythmics 1985 Eh
5923. Personal Property-Def Leppard 1992 Don't know it
5922. What I Like About You-Romantics 1980 Not my fave, but very catchy
5921. The Great Pretender-Platters 1955/56 The style is doo wop. Tony Williams (as I have often said) is second only (IMO) in vocal stylings to Roy. Great song. - But another one that wouldn't play today. "Just laughing and gay like a clown"

5940. Black or White-Michael Jackson 1992 I remember that In Living Color parody. Classic! "I'm still a virgin and I'm thirty-three, even Madonna won't have sex with me...." Great line!
5939. Steppin' in a Slide Zone-Moody Blues 1978 I heard part of it used in a Moody Blues doccumentary years ago. Haven't heard the whole song, but I'm interested.
5938. Only Sixteen-Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show 1976 Best one today. Love this! They had two really big runs, in the early 70's, then in the late 70's. This one sorta came in between..
5937. When Smokey Sings-ABC 1987 Not bad considering what else was out in '87, but yeah, I agree, Look Of Love was better. Poison Arrow, too!
5936. I Say a Little Prayer-Aretha Franklin 1968 Dionnes version, all the way.
5935. Love is Strong-Rolling Stones 1994 Didn't care for it, just not very interesting...
5934. Crazy Crazy Nights-Kiss 1987 I'm hot or cold when it comes to Kiss, but this song (and album) really sucked IMO..
5933. Alley-Oop-Hollywood Argyles 1960 I know the Beach Boys version, but I don't think I've heard the original. I know it went to #1, though. Forgotten oldie, like so many.
5932. Please Remember Me-Tim McGraw 1999 (new addition) Don't know it.. But I'm not too crazy about Mr. Hill.
5931. The Heart of the Matter-Don Henley 1990 A little dull for me..
5930. Do You Love Me?-Contours 1962 Yeah, I agree. Hasn't been the same since '88.. D@mn that Patrick Swazye!! LOL
5929. She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy-Kenny Chesney 1999 (new addition) Ah, OOO Kayyy....
5928. Gonna Fly Now-Bill Conti 1977 I have both versions of this, the Conti version and the Maynard Fergusson version that charted at the same time. No prefference.
5927. Too Rolling Stoned-Robin Trower 1974 I only know one song by Trower. This isn't it..
5926. Shinin' On-Grand Funk Railroad 1974 I like this better than "Loco-Motion" (WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?)
5925. Rubber Ball-Bobby Vee 1960/61 Actually, I like this one for some reason..
5924. Would I Lie to You?-Eurythmics 1985 Last great Eurythmics record!
5923. Personal Property-Def Leppard 1992 Never heard this, but didn't think much of "Adrenalize"
5922. What I Like About You-Romantics 1980 Believe it or not, I don't think I've ever played this at my 80's night. I just never got a request for it. But I'm sure if I HAD played it, it would have gone over big! I could take it or leave it, myself..
5921. The Great Pretender-Platters 1955/56 For a pre-rock tune, I think it's OK.

5940. This is my favorite MJ song. It's catchy and the lyrics are preachy without overdoing it.
5939. Never heard this one.
5938. I know I've heard this song before, but I can't hear it in my head right now, so I won't comment.
5937. Hmm...not familiar with it.
5936. I've never heard Aretha's version of this song, but I imagine it's quite nice.
5935. I hated this song as soon as I first saw the video. Hate it still.
5934. Don't know it.
5933. Not bad, but not really that good either.
5932. Good song. I like several of Tim's songs, but I wouldn't necessarily call myself a fan. I prefer female singers, no matter what the genre.
5931. Two thumbs up! Excellent song.
5930. Is this that "Do you love me? I can really move. Do you love me?...Now that I can dance. Watch me now!" If so, it's a fun song. If not, then I don't know it.
5929. I DESPISE this song! It gives such a bad name to down-home Southern folk. We're not all tractor-driving, tobacco-chewing hicks!
5928. Eh, it's alright.
5927. Never heard of it.
5926. Don't know it.
5925. Don't know it.
5924. Good, but not as good as Sweet Dreams or some of their other stuff.
5923. Never heard it.
5922. I like it, but it's a bit overplayed.
5921. My grandfather loves The Platters, which kind of surprises me for some reason. Anyway, I've never been big on this song.

5940. Black or White-Michael Jackson 1992 Not his worst, but I never really got into it much.
5939. Steppin' in a Slide Zone-Moody Blues 1978 LOVE this - one of my favorites from them.
5938. Only Sixteen-Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show 1976 I like this more now than I did then. Nice, mellow tune.
5937. When Smokey Sings-ABC 1987 I like this, but it's not their best.
5936. I Say a Little Prayer-Aretha Franklin 1968 Good one from Aretha.
5935. Love is Strong-Rolling Stones 1994 I don't remember this one.
5934. Crazy Crazy Nights-Kiss 1987 This one's not familiar, but in general I'm not too fond of their 80s work.
5933. Alley-Oop-Hollywood Argyles 1960 Okay, not great. Haven't heard this in a while.
5932. Please Remember Me-Tim McGraw 1999 (new addition) Can't place this one.
5931. The Heart of the Matter-Don Henley 1990 Not one of his better ones.
5930. Do You Love Me?-Contours 1962 Catchy, but overplayed somewhat.
5929. She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy-Kenny Chesney 1999 (new addition) No, no, no.
5928. Gonna Fly Now-Bill Conti 1977 I've loved this since '77. Maynard Ferguson's version is great, too.
5927. Too Rolling Stoned-Robin Trower 1974 I know I've heard this, but can't recall it offhand.
5926. Shinin' On-Grand Funk Railroad 1974 I didn't like this much when I first heard it. It's grown on me a lot since then.
5925. Rubber Ball-Bobby Vee 1960/61 Not bad, but not great.
5924. Would I Lie to You?-Eurythmics 1985 I've gone back and forth about this one over the years. It's okay, but they had better.
5923. Personal Property-Def Leppard 1992 Don't recall this one.
5922. What I Like About You-Romantics 1980 I have the 45 of this. Good song, but overplayed,
5921. The Great Pretender-Platters 1955/56 Classic Platters, one of their best songs.

It's time to get caught up 5940 - Have to agree with you on liking the music better than the singing. 5939 - My oldest brother bought the Octave LP back in '78 - but I really didn't become familiar with this until last year when I got the best of for my birthday. 5938 - I really liked this back in '76 - we had the 45 in the house - and I remember listening to it plenty. 5937 - I wasn't a big fan of their's but I didn't mind this or Look of Love - i remember this getting lots of airplay locally but haven't heard since '87. 5936 - I might know it but I'd have to hear it. 5935 - I liked the video as well. 5934 -This is one of my favorite 80's tracks. 5933 - My uncle had this 45 when he was a kid - great novelty tune if somewhat goofy LOL I seem to recall hearing it for the first time as a kid on Ktel's goofy Greats. 5932 - Why does he annoy you Adam ? - not sure if I know it. 5931 - Still a favorite of mine. 5930 - LOL! still a big 60's fave - I know what you mean though I can't hear Cool Jerk without hearing Kevin's Uncle in Home alone singing it WAY off key. "shudder" 5929 - I know I've heard it - the title is familiar but it's just not ringing any bells. 5928 - LOL well maybe lifting a donut to my mouth but never pumping iron LOL I really liked it back then however. 5927 - I borrowed Bridge of sighs awhile back from the library because my local Classic station had played it and I recorded this and a few others onto cassette. 5926 - First heard this in the 70's on the HITS - 8- track. Also remember it in that Simpsons episode with Peter Frampton and The Smashing Pumpkins. 5925 - Wow wouldn't that be something . The first Vee tune I heard in the 70's. 5924 - A great rocker - I think it still holds up very well now. 5923 - Don't know it. 5922 - Still a huge fave! 5921 - Remember hearing it when I was very young.

5940. Black or White-Michael Jackson 1992 That was funny. "Gee, I guess I really am black" when the cop took him away. We used to watch just to see the sexy guy at the end, then we'd turn it.
5939. Steppin' in a Slide Zone-Moody Blues 1978 Eh. Their stuff is hit or miss.
5938. Only Sixteen-Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show 1976 Ew.
5937. When Smokey Sings-ABC 1987 My least favorite of their songs. Tolerable, but barely.
5936. I Say a Little Prayer-Aretha Franklin 1968 I like the song, but not this version.
5935. Love is Strong-Rolling Stones 1994 Eh.
5934. Crazy Crazy Nights-Kiss 1987 This is the era that I really don't like KISS.
5933. Alley-Oop-Hollywood Argyles 1960 Lame.
5932. Please Remember Me-Tim McGraw 1999 (new addition) Ick! I hope it's better than Don't Take The Girl.
5931. The Heart of the Matter-Don Henley 1990 Eh.
5930. Do You Love Me?-Contours 1962 You are right - Dirty Dancing ruined it, but check out the movie "The In Crowd" (from the 80's - not the movie of th same name put out in 2000). It makes up for it.
5929. She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy-Kenny Chesney 1999 (new addition) Sorry, but you have GOT to be kidding.....HUURRRLL!
5928. Gonna Fly Now-Bill Conti 1977 Yes, and we pretended we were beating up sides of beef, and we ran to the top of the steps at the Philadelphia library and jumped up and down and had pics taken next to the Rocky statue......
5927. Too Rolling Stoned-Robin Trower 1974 Not familiar.
5926. Shinin' On-Grand Funk Railroad 1974 Eh.
5925. Rubber Ball-Bobby Vee 1960/61 It's kind of lame.
5924. Would I Lie to You?-Eurythmics 1985 I love this one, and the movie it was in (One Crazy Summer - Savage Steve Holland Rules!)
5923. Personal Property-Def Leppard 1992 Stopped listeining after Pyromania. All their songs and videos were almost identical after that.
5922. What I Like About You-Romantics 1980 It's ok, but way overplayed.
5921. The Great Pretender-Platters 1955/56 My mom tortured me with this stuff.

Black & White - Don't know it, but Michael stop making good music right after Thriller
Steppin' in a Slide Zone - I don't remember this one, might have heard it on the radio, just can't remember.
Only Sixteen - Not a bad cover, just not a really good one either.
When Smokey Sings - Don't know it
I Say A Little Prayer - Both got a lot of airplay, both sounded the same.
Love is Strong - ok song
Crazy Crazy Nights - Don't know it
Alley Oop - Like most novelty songs, they're only funny for a little while
Please Remember Me - Don't know it
The Heart of the Matter - Didn't like it
Do You Love - Remember a scene from the TV "Evening Shade" where Michael Jeter slides across the cafe & starts dancing to this song. Funny stuff, you had to be there. Great song.
She Thinks My Tractors Sexy - If the tractor is sexy, what does that say about you (lol). Anyway, don't know it.
Gonna Fly Now - The think I remember about this song is if you were driving and it came on, you were suddenly going about 95 mph.
Too Rolling Stoned - Good song I haven't heard in years. Got it on a cassette somewhere.
Shinin' On - GFR did some great stuff in the early to mid 70s. This on was pretty ordinary.
Rubber Ball - Eecch
Would I Lie to You - Pretty good song
Personal Property - Don't know it
What I Like About You - A good song, I just here it everyday, so I pretty sick of it right now.
Great Pretender - The Platters were a classic group from the 50s, and this is one of their best.

5935. Love is Strong-Rolling Stones 1994 Next please
5934. Crazy Crazy Nights-Kiss 1987 Most KISS fans are ashamed of this period I think.
5933. Alley-Oop-Hollywood Argyles 1960 Goofy tune
5932. Please Remember Me-Tim McGraw 1999 (new addition) One of the few newer country singles that I recognize. Pretty good.

5921. The Great Pretender-Platters 1955/56 Too corny.
