Surf City - Great oldie from Jan & Dean
Cracklin' Rosie - Love this song
Short Shorts - silly song
Both Sides Now - One of the best from the 60s

Will You Love Me Tomorrow - Love Carole King's version of this song, this version is okay
Through the Years - Yawner from Kenny
Pick up the Pieces - Great funky little instrumental
Until I Fall Away - don't know it
Thank the Lord for the Nighttime - Another great early Neil Diamond classic
Hot Rod Hearts - Don't Remember it
I Would Do Anything for Love - Overplayed but a great song.

I'll have to check 'Good to Be King' out sometime! I actually may have heard 'Into the Great Wipe Open' - the classic rock stations here play a lot of his songs. The 'Thriller' mix was kinda strange - they put all the verses together one right after the other at the beginning, and then the Vincent Price part, and then all the choruses together at the end. It was interesting, but didn't flow nearly as well as the original. Wow, that sounds weird!

Both Sides Now-Judy Collins 1968 Dare I say, Judy's almost...PSYCHEDELIC here! (Maybe that keyboard makes me think so, anyway...). Wonderful, almost operatic voice. I've really grown into her music, especially this one. Maybe it was the company she was keeping (CSN, etc).

Happy T-day?? Today is December 2. Thanksgiving was last week. (oop...thats because I'm answering this 5 days late. - D'oh!) Sad But True-Metallica 1992 Don't know this either. Maybe I'll go download it for free and then try to sell pirated copies. Or maybe I won't, seeing I don't like Metallica. Surf City-Jan & Dean 1963 Jan and Dean - the major pretenders to the Beach Boys' throne. They had a very good early '60s sound, but they never grew from there the way the Beach Boys did. Surf City is a good song and brings back several good memories. Thriller-Michael Jackson 1984 Is this the video where he dangles the baby from the balcony, or the one where he has sex with 12-year old boys? LMAO at the T-day, Metallica and Michael jokes!! But in actuallity, J&D were around first! What was it, Jennie Lee or even Baby Talk that came out in 59?

LMAO at the T-day, Metallica and Michael jokes!! But in actuallity, J&D were around first! What was it, Jennie Lee or even Baby Talk that came out in 59? Damn! You really go back and answer old posts! Absolutely right about Jan and Dean predating the Beach Boys. Of course, it had nothing to do with surfing back in the late '50s but the harmonies were very similar. Jennie Lee was actually 1958, and the original label listed the duet as "Jan and Arnie" Arnie was Arnie Ginsberg who was another musician and a friend of Jan and Dean's. (For you Bostonians, this was NOT the same Arnie Ginsberg who was the legendary DJ in Boston in the 50s and 60s.) I didn't remember the entire story behind Jennie Lee without my Whitburn, so I did a little websurfing and found www.jananddean.com/bio.htmlwhich tells the whole story -as told by Dean Torrence himself. Its kinda a cool bio page and talks about the making of Jennie Lee, the success of J&D, Jan's nearly fatal auto accident and their association with the Beach Boys. I learned a lot I did not know before. It's a good read. Incidentally, I have a copy of the original Jennie Lee 45 (Arwin Records) like the one shown in the pic on the website.

I know it seems like a pathetic attempt to generate more answers to my posts, or to jack up my post totals, but that would be sad! But I remember people on YL thought it meant something by having the most posts. I'll have to check out that link at home!
