Which 10 CD's found themselves in your player throughout the course of 03? Here is my list: Poco-The Forgotten Trail-I was crazy nuts about these guys all year. They went from being nowhere on my all time artist list to being in the top 5. Their sound from 69-74 is my favorite sound in music right now. I almost always grabbed this CD when I knew I'd be in the car awhile. Or when I showered. Now that you have that image in your mind..... Martina McBride-Emotion-Anybody that knew me over at YL will notice that I doubled my interest in Martina in this past year. I've liked her for years, but this year, probably through TV appearances and going to her concert and really listening to her albums closer, I became a HUGE fan! This was her last album before her GH CD, and I started to listen a whole lot more to the non singles this year. Martina McBride-Evolution-This is my fave album by Martina, but like Emotion, I listened a whole lot more to the non-singles that I hadn't previously listened to as much. Martina McBride-Martina-Fourth on my list, and it just came out in SEPTEMBER!! Plain and simple, when this came out, I played the sh!t out of it. It was a very easy album to get into. And now that the Christmas music is going away, I will resume playing the sh!t out of it. Buffalo Springfield-disc 4 from the box set-This disc contains all of their first and second album. I love it so much, I've only listened to the other 3 discs once each! Kid Rock-Cocky-Forgive me. In my defense, this album, IMO, leans more towards hard rock than rap. And I get a kick out of his juvenile swearing! LOL! Steve Stills-Manassas-The second half of this list I don't always listen to all the way through, but what I do, I play the hell out of! This is such a good album, better than the rest of his solo stuff. The first "section" is what I always listen to. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young-Deja vu-I just love the second half of this disc, you know, the songs that DON'T get classic rock play! Cat Stevens-Greatest Hits-This is the collection that was offered on TV. There are so many good songs beyond the ones you hear on the radio! Rolling Stones-More Hot Rocks-Of course, they have since updated this album. But this 2 disc set is so good, focusing on their underrated psychedelic stuff, and their early lesser hits. What is on your list?

I have to think about this for a while, and look back over the past year to remember what I listened to.
First, I have to say that I recently listened to the Poco and Manassas CD's you listed on the listening station at Barnes and Noble, and LOVED them both! I'll be picking them up REAL soon, when I have some $$$ (Christmas shopping broke me!)

Hey Adam:) - Great topic! Many CD's were in my player throughout 2003 - here are the top 10 CD's in no particular order that spent time in my CD changer. Three Dog Night - Story - 1965 - 1975 - I finally got around to getting Cory Chuck and Danny on CD I enjoy this CD so much. Their version of I Can Hear You Calling is awesome. Beatles - Yellow Submarine Songtrack - The fabs always spend alot of time in both my player and on my turntable. How can you go wrong ? A fantastic selection of tunes and the remixed and remastered sound can't be beat. Fountains of Wayne - Utopia Parkway - After hearing Stacey's Mom and Bright Future in Sales from the new album and loving both I went back and fell in love with this CD all over again. Boo! to Atlantic for dropping the guys. The Carpet Frogs - Frog Curry - Great Canadian power pop - this is from '94 but I found it used earlier this year at one of our local record shops for $6 - it really made my day! Well written originals mixed with well chosen covers like Dear Prudence and Shakin' all Over. I found out they 've just released a new CD - woo hoo! Hey Look What I Found! - Volume 10 - Ok maybe this doesn't count since this a collection I made myself but one of the reason it spend so much time in my player is Martina McBride - from your recommendations Adam it contains 7 of her tunes The Thorns - The Thorns -My brother told me about this album. Very reminiscent of C S and N and America in sound. One of my very favorite CD of this year. I hope there's a follow up. Adriana Balic - For You - She's from Vancouver but currently lives in California. Her voice is incredible and her piano playing is superb (she's cute too). Her music is a nice mix of pop/ rock and jazz. Every tune is a winner. The Dave Clark Five - Glad All Over Again - Still can't believe their albums aren't yet available on disc what is Dave up too?? Great feel good tunes!! love that DC sound. Jellyfish - Spilt Milk - the bands second and final album.I really got into this earlier this year. A fine record. Steely Dan - Can't Buy a Thrill - I've always been very fond of this album ever since I heard it around the house as a kid. When I read that their catalogue was being remastered back in '98 this is the one I decided to buy . I also want to get Countdown To Ecstasy.

That 2 disc set had lots of play! Ok, so don't leave me in suspence! Which 7 songs?? Wait-the DC5 IS available, as two-fers! I've seen em! It's weird about their stuff-I remember a year or two ago seeing an ad talking about the History of disc being brand new, but I've had it since like 93!

Great topic, Adam! Let me think on it more, but these stand out as a start:
Sunflower/Surf's Up - Beach Boys
After reading Pete's recommendations, I've been listening to quite a few Beach Boys CDs, and this is probably the one I've listened to the most. Lots of great tracks on this two-fer, especially 'Slip On Through', 'It's About Time', 'Surf's Up', and 'Til I Die'.
Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
Another BB's CD that spent a lot of time in my player this year. Such a moving, emotional album - very powerful.
Lost 45s of the 70s & 80s Vols. 1 & 2
Got these for Christmas last year, and have enjoyed getting reacquainted with all those long-lost songs!
edit:
Beach Boys Classics Selected By Brian Wilson
This was the second Beach Boys CD I got, after Pet Sounds. A great collection of Brian's best songs, with many of my favorites.
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
A superb album that makes for a great listening experience. I got the CD in March, right around the time they first released the 30th anniversary edition.
Best of the Doobie Brothers, Vol. 2
I have this on vinyl also, but upgraded to CD this past year. The Doobies have always been a favorite of mine.
Radio Daze: Pop Hits of the 80s, Vol. 2
I missed getting this CD series while it was in print, but found a copy of this used, and hope to eventually get the rest. I really love the forgotten hits from that era.
Greatest Hits: The Record - Bee Gees
This was also a Christmas gift from 2002, and an excellent collection. Listening to those songs always takes me back to my childhood years.
Question: Is the Cat Stevens Greatest CD you have the one with 'Remember the Days of the Old Schoolyard'? That's a great song that I haven't heard on the radio in ages!

Love the topic, Adam! Let's see...after giving it some thought, I've come up with this list: Melissa Etheridge--Breakdown--This is an album of Melissa's that I never listened to very much in the past, but a few months ago, I dug it out of my collection, put it in the car, and started listening to it a lot. There are a couple of songs on it that I really love, and enjoy hearing over and over again. They are Enough of Me, and Stronger than Me. Melissa Etheridge--Skin--Melissa released this album a couple of years ago, and it's another one that I never gave much thought to, mainly because her other CD's were always in my player. LOL! But I decided to give this one more of a try, and found I liked a lot of the songs on it. "Please Forgive Me" is the standout on this one, imo. (I just realized that every song I mentioned so far ends with the word "me". LOL!) Holy Road: Freedom Songs--Lizzie West--The story behind this: I had never heard of this person. One night, I was watching an episode of "Third Watch". At the end of the show, a very pretty song came on during the final scene, and I was enthralled by it. I just had to know what the song was, and who sang it. So I did a "google" search, and found out the name of the song was "Prayer", and it was by Lizzie West. So, I looked it up on Ebay, found a copy and bought it. I've listened to the whole cd quite a few times, and it's great. Kinda folky, country, bluesy type music along the lines of Emmylou Harris or Lucinda Williams. Good stuff! Foo Fighters--Foo Fighters--I love this CD, and always find myself coming back to it after not listening to it for awhile. I was big into it again quite a bit this past summer. I'm a big Dave Grohl fan. The Best of Suzi Quatro--Adam, I have you to thank for getting me interested in Suzi again. After reading your "Artist Opinion" post mentioning her, I realized that I liked her music a lot back in the day. That started me on a Quatro kick, and I bought this CD off of trusty ol' Ebay. I love it! The songs bring back a lot of memories of my childhood. My only complaint: It doesn't have "Rock Hard" on it, which is my favorite by her. Gotta find a cd with that song on it someday. The Argent Anthology--I picked this up at a garage sale awhile back, even though I wasn't really familiar with Argent's music. I brought this cd home, gave it a listen, enjoyed it, and it's been in my CD player at some point or another many times during this past year. The Road Home--Heart--This is a live cd of acoustic performances of some of Heart's hits. (I wonder if I could use the word "of" a few more times. LOL!) Anyway, I love the quiet, intimate feel of this cd, and am drawn back to it again and again. I love Ann Wilson's voice, and this CD showcases it very well. Cyndi Lauper--Twelve Deadly Cyns--Cyndi is one of my favorite singers, and this cd always finds its way into a cd player somewhere--either in my house or my car. I like it a lot. Pat Benatar--Go--Pat's newest release is very good. I'm always up for anything Pat does, so I made sure to pick this CD up whenever it came out a few months ago. The songs are quite enjoyable. I've had a great time getting to know them. The Rose Soundtrack--My favorite Bette Midler movie. I caught it again on one of the movie channels awhile back, and it made me want to listen to the CD again, and I have, quite a few times. There are a lot of memories associated with the movie, and with these songs, for me, and I really like going back to that time occasionally, to remember those times. A bit of nostalgia for me, I suppose. So that's it. Fascinating, wasn't it? LOL!

Martina - The wait is over The seven tunes are - Safe in The Arms of Love A Great Disguise Anything and Everything Cry on The Shoulder of The Road I Ain't Going Nowhere It's My Time Make Me Believe The DC5 - I thought I had seen those CD's listed in Goldmine - but weren't they bootlegs or imports ? All EXCELLENT choices! Great Disguise and Make Me Believe being my faves! So were those from my recomendations, at least a few? You know what, they might be. I'll check the store I go to, he had them there. But I DO know that the History disc was a regular release here at one point.

One of the songs Martina & Pat did at Cross Roads that DIDN'T air on TV was something off that Go disc.
