Ok, many of you will be happy that on Monday I will be doing another tournament! LOL! It will be the Hollies, and I just have to come up with a few more songs to round out 16.
BTW-so far, most of you have missed the Trivia question I put over on the Quizzes board!!
5756. You Could Be Mine-Guns-n-Roses 1991 One of their more annoying songs. I think this was played every 15 minutes on MTV that year.
5755. Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses-U2 1992 Loved Mysterious Ways, but nothing else from this disc.
5754. Unskinny Bop-Poison 1990 Poison was chick metal. I was never big into them at any time.
5753. Piece of My Heart-Faith Hill 1993 (new addition) Faith’s cover of the Janis classic. This was back when Faith was real country, so it sounds REAL hillbilly 5752. Can’t Stop-Red Hot Chili Peppers 2002 (new addition) This got some play off their last studio album. Didn’t make the recent Greatest Hits though.
5751. Lift Me Up-Yes 1991 This was the single off their Union album, which was recorded by 8 of their 12 previous members. (Actually, the tracks were recorded separately by two different lineups of the band)
5750. Queen of Hearts-Juice Newton 1981 Pop country was huge in the early 80’s with Dolly, Kenny, etc, and Juice jumped on the bandwagon.
5749. Money That Matters-Randy Newman 1988 Yet another one of Randy’s tongue in cheek songs. Not as big as his signature songs.
5748. Us and Them-Pink Floyd 1973 This did not suffer from burnout-I NEVER liked this, even though I was a huge Floyd fan.
5747. Not Enough-Van Halen 1995 This is when VH got real dorky, trying to record introspective ballads. I actually have the video on tape.
5746. But For the Grace of God-Keith Urban 1999 (new addition) Keith’s one of the current crop of country pretty-boys. That being said, his stuff’s not bad.
5745. Welcome Back-John Sebastian 1976 Couldn’t he have capitalized on this and had more solo hits? Sort of tired of this now though.
5744. I’ve Never Been to Me-Charlene 1977/82 How could you have not been to yourself? Were you closed at the time?
5743. Silver Machine-Hawkwind 1971 (new addition) Hawkwind was the band Lemmy was in before Motorhead. They were prog-metal. Heard this on an awesome Rhino 70’s metal collection. Interesting song.
5742. I Can’t Quit You Baby-Led Zeppelin 1969 Never big on the early blues Zep stuff, which would probably be seen as a sacrelige to other Zep fans.
5741. Wreck of the Hesperus-George Harrison 1987 One of the many album tracks I got into on this tape. Reminds me of getting my driver’s license.
5740. Down to the Sea-Robert Plant 1993 Bob was really trying to hang on here. This album had a few good cuts, but wasn’t as consistently good overall.
5739. Up on the Roof –Drifters 1962/63 Put this in with Roll Over Beethoven and (I Know) I’m Losing You where I like the two covers better (JT and Cryan’ Shames).
5738. The Crippled Lion-Monkees 1968/90 One of a trillion Mike songs where the title isn’t in the lyrics. This originally unreleased song showed up on Missing Links Volume 2.
5737. Sultans of Swing-Dire Straits 1979 I’ve had my fill of Dire Straits for one lifetime.
Let's hear it!!

You Could Be Mine-Guns-n-Roses 1991 Don't know it, but I've never been big on GNR. They've got a few good songs, but that's it.
Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses-U2 1992 Sounds interesting, although I don't know this song.
Unskinny Bop-Poison 1990 Don't know it.
Piece of My Heart-Faith Hill 1993 (new addition) This has always been one of my favorite of Faith's songs. I do like a lot of her more pop songs, but I'll always remember how she started out as a true country singer with songs like this and Take Me As I Am.
Can’t Stop-Red Hot Chili Peppers 2002 (new addition) Not familiar with it.
Lift Me Up-Yes 1991 Don't know anything by them, actually.
Queen of Hearts-Juice Newton 1981 Don't know it.
Money That Matters-Randy Newman 1988 I don't know this one, although I love his style of songwriting.
Us and Them-Pink Floyd 1973 Don't know it.
Not Enough-Van Halen 1995 VH and introspective ballads? Sounds like a bad combination.
But For the Grace of God-Keith Urban 1999 (new addition) You're right, it's not bad. He looks like he's trying to hard though.
Welcome Back-John Sebastian 1976 ??
I’ve Never Been to Me-Charlene 1977/82 Sounds familiar...but I'm not placing the tune.
Silver Machine-Hawkwind 1971 (new addition) Never heard of them.
I Can’t Quit You Baby-Led Zeppelin 1969 Don't know it.
Wreck of the Hesperus-George Harrison 1987 He's okay solo...I'm just not big on it.
Down to the Sea-Robert Plant 1993 Don't know it.
Up on the Roof –Drifters 1962/63 Don't know it.
The Crippled Lion-Monkees 1968/90 Ah, an obscure Monkees song. Needless to say, I've never heard it.
Sultans of Swing-Dire Straits 1979 I'm not big on them.

You Could Be Mine-Guns-n-Roses 1991 Not ringing a bell, but then I didn't watch MTV that much in '91 even though I did have it. Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses-U2 1992 I was just listening to this about an hour ago! Great song, but my favorite song on that CD ("Achtung Baby") is "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)". Never heard it? Well, it didn't get played on the radio. That's probably one reason it's my favorite. Piece of My Heart-Faith Hill 1993 Very nice. Sometimes when people remake a song and they change the tempo and mood of the song, it works, and sometimes it doesn't. This one worked for me. Queen of Hearts-Juice Newton 1981 This is a good one from my college days. A few years ago at work, this song was playing on the radio, and one of my coworkers asked, "Is that Leann Rimes?" LOL--Leann Rimes probably hadn't even been born yet in 1981! Welcome Back-John Sebastian 1976 This was one of my favorite songs back in the day! Silver Machine-Hawkwind 1971 I've heard OF them. Never actually heard them, though. There was a lot of good stuff from that era that I didn't hear until later, so it would be interesting to hear it. Down to the Sea-Robert Plant 1993 Great stuff! I have this on CD! The Crippled Lion-Monkees 1968/90 I don't know this one. The title would probably be considered "politically incorrect" nowadays!

You Could Be Mine-Guns-n-Roses 1991 I like a few GNR songs, but this isn't one of them.
Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses-U2 1992 I don't think I know this, but I'm not too fond of their later material in general.
Unskinny Bop-Poison 1990 This one gets annoying after a while.
Piece of My Heart-Faith Hill 1993 (new addition) I always forget about this one when I'm thinking of her songs, for some reason. Not her best, but good.
Can’t Stop-Red Hot Chili Peppers 2002 (new addition) Not familiar with this one.
Lift Me Up-Yes 1991 I don't know this one, but would like to investigate more of their later work.
Queen of Hearts-Juice Newton 1981 I remember hearing this lots back in the day. A good one from Juice - I always liked her music.
Money That Matters-Randy Newman 1988 I can't place this one, but I like Randy's writing style.
Us and Them-Pink Floyd 1973 One of my Pink Floyd favorites. Dark Side of the Moon is great.
Not Enough-Van Halen 1995 I've never cared for their later material very much.
But For the Grace of God-Keith Urban 1999 (new addition) The title seems familiar, but I can't recall the melody.
Welcome Back-John Sebastian 1976 Love this! It brings back so many memories of watching that show when I was young.
I’ve Never Been to Me-Charlene 1977/82 I have a cassette of me singing along with this song from back in '82!
Silver Machine-Hawkwind 1971 (new addition) I don't know this one.
I Can’t Quit You Baby-Led Zeppelin 1969 One of my favorite early hits from them.
Wreck of the Hesperus-George Harrison 1987 Not bad, but there are many from that album I like more.
Down to the Sea-Robert Plant 1993 I like most 80s Plant songs I've heard, especially 'Big Log', but I don't think I know this one.
Up on the Roof –Drifters 1962/63 A classic, but I think I prefer JT's version also.
The Crippled Lion-Monkees 1968/90 Not familiar with this one.
Sultans of Swing-Dire Straits 1979 My favorite Dire Straits song. Love the guitar work!

You Could Have Been Mine - His vocals really got on my nerves . Was never much of a fan. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses - This was good but my fave from the disc was Even Better Than The Real Thing. Unskinny Bop - I was never that into them at that time either . It wasn't until maybe the early 90's when I rediscovered them and found their songs were very catchy. Piece Of My Heart - It took a bit for me to get used to this version because I was so familiar with the way Janis sang it - but Faith did a good job. Can't Stop - Not familiar with it - I'm not really that big on them a song here and there, Fortune Faded is good. Lift Me Up - I should check this out Queen Of Hearts - This was being played everywhere - good stuff. Money That Matters - Here's one I haven't heard for awhile - and kind of forgot about - very , very good. Us and Them - Major burnout for me - my classic rock station plays every track from Dark Side. Even when I bought the vinyl I didn't keep it for very long. However I did keep the inserts Not Enough - I had not heard this before so I found an audio clip - I like the melody - very nice. But For The Grace of God - I haven't heard this particular song but I have a couple of tunes by him and he's pretty good. Welcome Back - Still a huge fave. I also have a video clip of John singinf this on SNL. I've Never Been To Me - LOL ;D Not a big favorite very sappy. Silver Machine - I still have never heard any of their music although I really like the cover art from some of their LP's. I Can't Quit You Baby - This is another track my CR station LOVES to play - It depends what kind of mood I'm in sometimes I'll listen to it and sometimes I just change the station. Wreck of The Hesperus - Love it , Love it! Down To The Sea - Not familiar. Up on The Roof - A Drifters fave - I have the 45. I have to agree with you about The Cryan Shames and JT's covers. The Crippled Lion - The title is familiar but I still have not heard it yet. Sultans of Swing - My CR station still plays it multiple times a week. I have the single but don't play it all that much. Although I do have a live version that I taped from a buddy off of a 12" single that is killer.

A lot of I don't knows here again, Adam. Oh well, here we go.
You Could Be Mine-Guns-n-Roses 1991 Not bad, not their best
Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses-U2 1992 Don't know it
Unskinny Bop-Poison 1990 Can't think of ANYTHING they did that I really liked. Kinda disappointing.
Piece of My Heart-Faith Hill 1993 (new addition) Can't picture this as a country song.
Can’t Stop-Red Hot Chili Peppers 2002 (new addition) Don't know it.
Lift Me Up-Yes 1991 So so
Queen of Hearts-Juice Newton 1981 Also so so
Money That Matters-Randy Newman 1988 Don't know it
Us and Them-Pink Floyd 1973 Don't know it
Not Enough-Van Halen 1995 Don't know it
But For the Grace of God-Keith Urban 1999 (new addition) Don't ....etc. etc.
Welcome Back-John Sebastian 1976 Loved the TV show, and the song just kinda went with it.
I’ve Never Been to Me-Charlene 1977/82 One of the few white Mowtowners. Lets see... Charlene, Rare Earth, Michael Jackson.... BTW this song sucks.
Silver Machine-Hawkwind 1971 (new addition) Don't know it
I Can’t Quit You Baby-Led Zeppelin 1969 Heard it back in grad school. There were some Zep heads there, but I don't remember it well.
Wreck of the Hesperus-George Harrison 1987 Don't know it.
Down to the Sea-Robert Plant 1993 Nope
Up on the Roof –Drifters 1962/63 Disagree here, Sat. The Drifters version ruled.
The Crippled Lion-Monkees 1968/90 Don't know it
Sultans of Swing-Dire Straits 1979 This is the only song of theirs that I like. Not top 250 like, but not bad.

I'll be saying "Don't know it" for a lot of these, I'm afraid.
You Could Be Mine--The title sounds familiar, but the tune is escaping me right now.
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses--Don't know it.
Unskinny Bop--I like Poison. I'm not too crazy about this song, though.
Piece of My Heart--No thanks. I'll stick with Joplin's version.
Can't Stop--Don't know it.
Lift Me Up--Don't know it.
Queen of Hearts--Pretty good. Got lots of airplay back in the day though, and I got kinda tired of it.
Money that Matters--Not bad. A friend's daughter, who was about 7 or 8 at the time, used to sing this song, only she had no clue about the correct lyrics. Instead of singing "it's money that matters", she'd sing "My name is Marilyn" at the top of her lungs. LOL!
Us and Them--Like this one a lot. Never get tired of it.
Not Enough--Don't think I know this one.
But for the Grace of God--I know who Keith Urban is, but haven't listened to much of his music. I don't know this song.
Welcome Back--Not bad, as far as TV theme songs go.
I've Never Been to Me--Didn't like this one much, but I do have the 45.
Silver Machine--Don't know it. Hawkwind is a cool name for a band though.
I Can't Quit You Baby--I might know it if I heard it. Was never big into Zep.
Wreck of the Hesperus--Nope.
Down to the Sea--Nope.
Up on the Roof--Classic. Gotta love it!
The Crippled Lion--Not a clue.
Sultans of Swing--I only like a few songs by Dire Straits. This isn't one of 'em.

You Could Be Mine-Guns-n-Roses 1991 One of my faves of theirs. One mention of Terminator 2, and I always think of this.
Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses-U2 1992 Didn't rave over it.
Unskinny Bop-Poison 1990 Their best!
Piece of My Heart-Faith Hill 1993 (new addition) Didn't really get into it.
Can’t Stop-Red Hot Chili Peppers 2002 (new addition) Not on the Hits? Lame--my fave recent song of theirs, oddly.

Silver Machine-Hawkwind 1971 (new addition) May look into it.
I Can’t Quit You Baby-Led Zeppelin 1969 Pretty good.
Wreck of the Hesperus-George Harrison 1987 One of my lesser faves from Cloud 9.

I do like a lot of her more pop songs, but I'll always remember how she started out as a true country singer with songs like this and Take Me As I Am. Welcome Back-John Sebastian 1976 ??
