Geez, almost forgot to do this today!!
Got a trivia question up today though!!
5297 Kick Out the Jams-MC5 1969
Haven't heard this a lot in my life, but I know it was a proto-type punk/metal song. And that it got banned in places. Decent. 5296 How Sweet it is to Be Loved By You-Marvin Gaye 1964/65
Again, I actually prefer JT's cover. I don't know why, just do. 5295 I Wanna Be a Beatle-Gene Cornish 1964*
Damn, forgot this in my Beatles Reference post! Yes, that is Gene from the Rascals! I think I heard this in The Compleat Beatles. Seems like a cool song. 5294 Hands to Heaven-Breathe 1988
Yes, wimpy again, but I never thought it was horrible.
5293 Let’s Talk About Sex-Salt ‘n Pepa 1991
Never knew this until I met my wife, yes, she has the tape. Never plays it though. Spinderella cut it up one time! Not bad for what it is.
5292 Still Waters-Bee Gees 1997
They were still good for a single every now and then.
5291 So Much in Love-Tymes 1963
A somewhat corny song that Art Garfunkel thought would be a good idea to cover.
5290 All Along the Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix 1968
Tired of it at this point.
5289 Sleep Walk-Santo & Johnny 1959
One of the classic early instrumentals. My dad and uncle love this one.
5288 Welcome to My Nightmare-Alice Cooper 1975
When Alice BECAME Alice. Good song, but not the best from that album.
5287 I'm Walkin’-Fats Domino 1957
Fats is a legend, but he's nothing I'd bust out.
5286 When the Band was Singing “Shakin’ All Over”-Guess Who 1975
A song referencing their first song when they were Chad Allen & the Expressions. I like that song better.
5285 Blueberry Hill-Fats Domino 1956/57
See my above Fats response.
5284 Eternal Flame-Bangles 1986
The best thing about this song is when Jason Bateman sings it in The Sweetest Thing.
5283 Mother-in-Law-Ernie K-Doe 1961
Before I knew the lyrics, I asked my dad why anyone would sing about their mother-in-law. He pointed out that he says it's "the worst word I ever heard". Classic!
5282 Run Runaway-Slade 1984
Saw this on VH-1 Classic recently, and forgot how good it was! One of Ozzy's fave bands.
5281 Venus-Bananarama 1986
Gimmie Shocking Blue and that knock out lead singer anyday. Much better voice on that one.
5280 Her Strut-Bob Seger 1980
Actually surprised I have this ranked this high. His voice annoys me to no end on this one!
5279 Turn Me Loose-Fabian 1959
I think this is the only Fabian song I know. One of countless teen idols that popped up in the wake of Elvis, only "cleaner".
5278 That’ll Be the Day-Beatles 1958/95
Yes, a cover of Buddy Holly's tune. One the first Anthology in a very primitive recording.
Have at it!

5297 Kick Out the Jams-MC5 1969 I've never heard this, but I'm curious about it!
5296 How Sweet it is to Be Loved By You-Marvin Gaye 1964/65 I prefer James' cover also, although Marvin does a pretty good version as well.
5295 I Wanna Be a Beatle-Gene Cornish 1964* I definitely should know this, but I'm not recalling it - I'll have to get Compleat out and listen for it.
5294 Hands to Heaven-Breathe 1988 Nicely sung 80s ballad.
5293 Let’s Talk About Sex-Salt ‘n Pepa 1991 I'm not at all familiar with their music.
5292 Still Waters-Bee Gees 1997 Not up to the level of their earlier hits, but a good cut.
5291 So Much in Love-Tymes 1963 Pleasant early rock era classic, with nice vocals.
5290 All Along the Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix 1968 My favorite Jimi track. Excellent guitar - crank it up!
5289 Sleep Walk-Santo & Johnny 1959 I don't hear this very often, but I like it.
5288 Welcome to My Nightmare-Alice Cooper 1975 Not one of my favorites from him.
5287 I'm Walkin’-Fats Domino 1957 One of his best, nice to hear occasionally.
5286 When the Band was Singing “Shakin’ All Over”-Guess Who 1975 Give me the original 'Shakin' All Over' also.
5285 Blueberry Hill-Fats Domino 1956/57 I remember seeing a lot of TV ads for a greatest hits album of his back around 1976, while I was watching Brady Bunch and Little Rascals reruns! Good early cut.
5284 Eternal Flame-Bangles 1986 Great vocals, but I prefer their more upbeat material.
5283 Mother-in-Law-Ernie K-Doe 1961 I can listen to this in small doses.
5282 Run Runaway-Slade 1984 Their Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply cassette was frequently in my car back in 85-86. Good rocker - haven't heard it in quite a while.
5281 Venus-Bananarama 1986 I've always liked this - another cassette I heard a lot of back in the day.
5280 Her Strut-Bob Seger 1980 Not Bob's best, but not bad.
5279 Turn Me Loose-Fabian 1959 I think I've only heard this once or twice - didn't stand out.
5278 That’ll Be the Day-Beatles 1958/95 Their original material was better.

Some good ones on here, Adam! 5297 Kick Out the Jams-MC5 1969 Yes it did get banned, and there were two versions. The one that got played said "Kick out the Jams, brothers and sisters". The banned one said "Kick Out the Jams, mother*##%!!@*s" I'm not sure I ever actually heard the banned version - just the cleaned up one. Not a bad song. 5296 How Sweet it is to Be Loved By You-Marvin Gaye 1964/65 I'll take Marvins version any day. 5295 I Wanna Be a Beatle-Gene Cornish 1964* Don't know it. 5294 Hands to Heaven-Breathe 1988 This is one of those songs that came from a period when I wasn't listening much, so I've probably heard it, but can't place it. I will soon enough, though. As I said on the General Board collections post, I'm starting to expand into the 1986-89 timeframe. 5293 Let’s Talk About Sex-Salt ‘n Pepa 1991 Heard it a couple of times. Didn't care for the song OR the group. 5292 Still Waters-Bee Gees 1997 Only familiar with this from the One Night Only concert. Not bad, but not their best. 5291 So Much in Love-Tymes 1963 Always liked it. 5290 All Along the Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix 1968 Classic. 5289 Sleep Walk-Santo & Johnny 1959 Probably my fave instrumental of all. Top 250 territory. 5288 Welcome to My Nightmare-Alice Cooper 1975 Not bad, but there are at least two dozen Alice songs that I like better. 5287 I'm Walkin’-Fats Domino 1957 The trouble with Fats is that he has such a distinctive voice, that everything he sings sounds like everything else he sings. But I've always liked his music. This is a good song. 5286 When the Band was Singing “Shakin’ All Over”-Guess Who 1975 Don't think I ever heard the 1975 song. I know the 1965 song very well, but don't remember them being called Chad Allen and the Expressions - it was always The Guess Who. - even on the 45. Love the 1965 song. 5285 Blueberry Hill-Fats Domino 1956/57 The one by which both Fats and Richie Cunningham will always be remembered. 5284 Eternal Flame-Bangles 1986 Love it! Great harmonies! All time top 250. 5283 Mother-in-Law-Ernie K-Doe 1961 I think the lyrics are "The worst person I know" Great all time classic song. Saw a picture sleeve of the 45 the other day, and I'll be darned...there was a picture of Nancy's mother on it! 5282 Run Runaway-Slade 1984 Not bad, but I never went wild over Slade. 5281 Venus-Bananarama 1986 DEFINITELY, Adam. Shocking Blue any day! 5280 Her Strut-Bob Seger 1980 Eh 5279 Turn Me Loose-Fabian 1959 Fabian wasn't really the clean one. That was his buddy Frankie Avalon. Fabian could not carry a tune AT ALL. It really showed in this song, which was slow enough that you could really tell. It wasn't as noticable in some of his faster songs like Hound Dog Man. However, Turn Me Loose does bring back some good memories. 5278 That’ll Be the Day-Beatles 1958/95 Don't think I've heard it.

I know the 1965 song very well, but don't remember them being called Chad Allen and the Expressions - it was always The Guess Who. - even on the 45. Love the 1965 song. I had it all bass ackwards! It was released as the Guess Who, but it was actually Chad Allen & the Expressions (just looked it up in my Whitburn guide!).

5297 Kick Out the Jams-MC5 1969 I'm not familiar with most MC5 recordings, but the title of this one reminds me of this comedy sketch that my friends did in college. Never mind... 5296 How Sweet it is to Be Loved By You-Marvin Gaye 1964/65 I like JT's cover better too. 5295 I Wanna Be a Beatle-Gene Cornish 1964* Never heard of this 5294 Hands to Heaven-Breathe 1988 As I said yesterday, I love this group and I'm not that ashamed to admit it. 5293 Let’s Talk About Sex-Salt ‘n Pepa 1991 Ditto your comment - Not bad for what it was 5292 Still Waters-Bee Gees 1997 I like quite a few of their more recent singles. 5291 So Much in Love-Tymes 1963 I like Art's version actually 5290 All Along the Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix 1968 Overplayed 5289 Sleep Walk-Santo & Johnny 1959 Classic song from the era 5288 Welcome to My Nightmare-Alice Cooper 1975 Not my fave from him 5287 I'm Walkin’-Fats Domino 1957 Not my style but a classic 5286 When the Band was Singing “Shakin’ All Over”-Guess Who 1975 I don't remember this 5285 Blueberry Hill-Fats Domino 1956/57 See my above Domino comment. 5284 Eternal Flame-Bangles 1986 OMG! I love that part of that movie with Bateman! I sadly also love this original song. 5283 Mother-in-Law-Ernie K-Doe 1961 Inlaws get a bad rap. 5282 Run Runaway-Slade 1984 Love this. Didn't the video have midgets? 5281 Venus-Bananarama 1986 I loved this cover at the time, but Shocking Blue's is better. 5280 Her Strut-Bob Seger 1980 Dislike this song immensely. 5279 Turn Me Loose-Fabian 1959 I don't remember this title at all. 5278 That’ll Be the Day-Beatles 1958/95 Never heard their version.

5297 - Kick Out The Jams - I have the uncensored version on a Time / Life / Rolling Stone compilation. Very good , I really like what I've been able to hear from them so far.
5296 - How Sweet It Is to Be Loved By You - I like both versions very much.
5295 - I Wanna Be a Beatle - I don't believe I know this.
5294 - Hand To Heaven - No idea:)
5293 - Let's Talk About Sex - Was never a fan of Salt N Pepa.
5292 - Still Waters - I may have heard it, but not sure.
5291 - So Much in Love - Very nice.
5290 - All Along The Watchtower - Still a huge fave with me.
5289 - Sleepwalk - Among the best instrumentals of all time! I have it on 45 and CD.
5288 - Welcome To My Nightmare - Was played many times in my house - great stuff.
5287 - I'm Walkin' - Classic Fats
5286 - When The Band Was Singing "Shakin' All Over" - First heard this on the Track Record collection - Fantastic tune.
5285 - Blueberry Hill - Love it!
5284 - Eternal Flame - Nice tune - but also prefer the more upbeat songs.
5283 - Mother in Law - I used to hear this a fair bit on the radio and picked up my 45 back in the mid 80's.
5282 - Run Runaway - I didn't know they were one of Ozzy's faves - cool ! - remember seeing the video quite often at the time and I think I may have it on videotape. somewhere.
5281- Venus - Yuck - never cared for it - a buddy of mine would torture me by playing the video every time I was at his house back then. Love Shocking Blue's version SO much more.
5280 - Her Strut - pretty good - it's been awhile since I've had a listen.
5279 - Turn Me Loose - Not a big fan of the teen idols but the odd song was alright - this is pleasent enough.
5278 - That'll Be The Day - Too bad the tape quality wasn't better but very cool.

5297 Kick Out the Jams-MC5 1969 LOVE it. I don't know if I've ever heard it on radio. But I have the Jams CD, and man, does it have ATTITUDE! Rock on!
5296 How Sweet it is to Be Loved By You-Marvin Gaye 1964/65 Good version, but James' version's the way it's meant to sound: silent for a second after that "...stop!"
5295 I Wanna Be a Beatle-Gene Cornish 1964* Looks interesting...
5294 Hands to Heaven-Breathe 1988 Never liked it. Didn't compare to Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue, and George Michael at the time.
5293 Let’s Talk About Sex-Salt ‘n Pepa 1991 One of the better rap jams! Never liked the original album version, though...has to be the "I'll take you there" remix.
5292 Still Waters-Bee Gees 1997 Reasonable, but their oldest and disco stuff were so much better.
5291 So Much in Love-Tymes 1963 LOVE it. If only ABKCO (the ones in control of Cameo/Parkway recordings) could buckle down, and put stuff out on CD...
5290 All Along the Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix 1968 Awesome.
5289 Sleep Walk-Santo & Johnny 1959 Never a huge fave, but has slightly grown on me. Back in the mid-80's, that steel guitar kinda scared me. Not a tune to listen to in the dark.
5288 Welcome to My Nightmare-Alice Cooper 1975 Awesome. Always has puzzled me why it didn't hit top 40.
5287 I'm Walkin’-Fats Domino 1957 Love it.
5286 When the Band was Singing “Shakin’ All Over”-Guess Who 1975 Good one.
5285 Blueberry Hill-Fats Domino 1956/57 Eternal top 1000 for me. But not the original; a big hit for Glenn Miller back in 1940.
5284 Eternal Flame-Bangles 1989 Wrong year, Sat. No matter, this was SOOOOOO overplayed, and still kinda is. Someone (A non-Clickster I hope) said a "mere" #2000 ranking or so was not high enough! Well, that's their opinion.
5283 Mother-in-Law-Ernie K-Doe 1961 And my Billboard Book of #1 hits says "The word is poison I know"--NEVER heard it that way; it's indeed "the worst person I know". Great tune ricaling some of Fats' best.
5282 Run Runaway-Slade 1984 Loved this in 8th grade. Still sometimes crank it.
5281 Venus-Bananarama 1986 Bananarama were definitely "cuter" IMHO than SB's Mariska Veres. And I absolutely LOVED this as I started 9th grade. But it hasn't grown on me much since.
5280 Her Strut-Bob Seger 1980 Why does everyone dislike this? I LOVE it; one of the reasons "Against the Wind" is my fave album of Bob's! Great guitar that just SCREAMED 'early 80's' as sort of a backlash against disco.
5279 Turn Me Loose-Fabian 1959 I must admit I'm a fan. My mom liked him too. But I think I can sing it better...
5278 That’ll Be the Day-Beatles 1958/95 Not a bad version; I guess a great warm-up for their smashing career.

Kick Out the Jams--Great tune! I have the uncensored version somewhere on a vinyl compilation album. Haven't heard the song in years. I'll have to dig it out sometime and give it another listen.
How Sweet it Is--I prefer James' version too. Never cared much for Marvin's.
I Wanna Be a Beatle--No clue.
Hands to Heaven--Great song! An all time fave of mine.
Let's Talk About Sex--Not bad, but they had better. Didn't they do another version a few years later to address the AIDS crisis? I believe it was called (what else?) Let's Talk About AIDS.
Still Waters--Don't know it.
So Much In Love--Always liked this one.
All Along the Watchtower--Never crazy about this.
Sleepwalk--Can't recall it.
Welcome To My Nightmare--Not a bad song, but what a terribly cheesy video (did they even call them videos then? Any idea how or why they made one for it? Just curious.)
I'm Walkin'--Pretty good, but nothing I'd seek out to listen to.
When The Band Was Singing Shakin' All Over--Title sounds familiar, can't place the tune.
Blueberry Hill--I like Richie Cunningham's version better. ;D
Eternal Flame--Always a favorite Bangles song.
Mother In Law--Pretty good tune. Fun lyrics.
Run Runaway--Love it. Always have. Loved the whole "Power Supply" album.
Venus--Never liked this cover at all. Shocking Blue's version is SO much better.
Her Strut--I'm a big Seger fan. This is a great song from him.
Turn Me Loose--Not my style. Not a great song, imo.
That'll Be the Day--Don't know it by the Beatles.

5295 I Wanna Be a Beatle-Gene Cornish 1964* I definitely should know this, but I'm not recalling it - I'll have to get Compleat out and listen for it. I can't remember what part it's in-I'm assuming after their arrival in America.

Welcome To My Nightmare--Not a bad song, but what a terribly cheesy video (did they even call them videos then? Any idea how or why they made one for it? Just curious.) They were called promo clips back then. They just used them to, what else, promo the song! LOL! I'm sure you've seen other promo videos from back then-Tommy James' Mony, Mony is a famous one. They'd use them on Ed Sullivan, Midnight Special, etc.
