Happy Good Friday to all you good Catholics. 5257 Little Jeanie-Elton John 1980 IMO, the BEST post-Kiki song by Elton. The rest was EH. 5256 Lightning Strikes-Yes 1999 This got very limited play on the rock stations around here. Glad Jon Anderson is still with them. 5255 YYZ-Rush 1981 The instrumental sandwhiched between 3 of Rush's best songs, making their best album side. Ken, isn't this some kind of Canadian airport code? 5254 Harlem Shuffle-Rolling Stones 1986 They were REALLY losing it at this point. It would stay pretty bad. 5253 Act Naturally-Beatles 1965 Very bizarre B side choice for Yesterday. Sometimes they picked poor B sides, like with What Goes On. 5252 Love Song-Anne Murray 1973/74 Heard this all my life, but I didn't realize what it was until I got a hold of a hits collection. Nice enough. 5251 Let’s Put the “X” in Sex-Kiss 1989 Didn't like much of their post Tears Are Falling songs. 5250 Get Up-Van Halen 1986 Talk about poor B side choices! I remember buying Why Can't This Be Love and flipping it over to hear this. Ick. 5249 I Wanna Talk About Me-Toby Keith 2001 (new addition) This actually has some funny lyrics, but Toby has already passed the annoying quota for one career. 5248 The Wind-Cat Stevens 1971 (new addition) Learned this once I picked up that 20 song collection. Nice enough, but not a stand out from him. 5247 I’m Crying-Journey 1980 A really nice power ballad, but this is such a strong album, it becomes one of the weaker tracks. 5246 Play the Game-Queen 1980 Didn't know this in 80. Heard it years later on the Greatest Hits. Another power ballad from 80. 5245 Listen to the Music- Doobie Brothers 1972 The first Doobies song to make the oldies stations. Fits in well there. Tired of it at this point. 5244 If This is it-Huey Lewis & the News 1984 This wasn't too bad. Probably because it wasn't as overplayed. 5243 I Thank You-Sam & Dave 1968 Listened to my dad's 45 AFTER I knew the ZZ Top version. Give me ZZ. 5242 Soul Man-Sam & Dave 1967 Tired of it, that's all. 5241 Higher Love-Steve Winwood 1986 Bought this 45, with Chaka Kahn on harmonies, but this was just driven into the ground! 5240 Here With Me-REO Speedwagon 1988 This new track on their Hits collection was a rewrite of In My Dreams. Which was a rewrite of Can't Fight This Feeling. Which was a rewrite of Keep on Loving You. Which was a rewrite of Time For Me to Fly. No surprise, each song got worse. 5239 Karma-Journey 1977 Neal Schon on vocals on this cut from the last pre-Perry album. Sometime I am gonna play the intro to some buddies and claim it's a Hendrix bootleg. Yep, the guitar work is that good. 5238 Dance Little Sister-Rolling Stones 1974 Wow, haven't heard this on classic rock radio in years! Not one of their better ones though. Have at it!

5257 Little Jeanie-Elton John 1980 Great Elton tune - I remember hearing this often back in summer '80.
5256 Lightning Strikes-Yes 1999 I'm not too familiar with their newer material - should check it out.
5255 YYZ-Rush 1981 I don't think I've heard this one.
5254 Harlem Shuffle-Rolling Stones 1986 I really liked this back then - even bought the 45 - but haven't listened to it much in recent years.
5253 Act Naturally-Beatles 1965 Not their best, but fun to hear occasionally. Ringo does a great job with the vocals.
5252 Love Song-Anne Murray 1973/74 Nice one from her early period.
5251 Let’s Put the “X” in Sex-Kiss 1989 Not familiar with this.
5250 Get Up-Van Halen 1986 They were starting to go downhill with this album.
5249 I Wanna Talk About Me-Toby Keith 2001 (new addition) I may have heard this at one point, but I'm drawing a blank.
5248 The Wind-Cat Stevens 1971 (new addition) I've never heard this one.
5247 I’m Crying-Journey 1980 From their best era. Not their best, but good.
5246 Play the Game-Queen 1980 Just discovered this about a year ago. Pretty good one from them.
5245 Listen to the Music- Doobie Brothers 1972 Classic Doobies! I remember hearing this from around the time it was current, and have loved it ever since.
5244 If This is it-Huey Lewis & the News 1984 I liked this back in the day, but it's grown on me even more since then.
5243 I Thank You-Sam & Dave 1968 Catchy tune, but definitely overplayed by the oldies stations here.
5242 Soul Man-Sam & Dave 1967 This is overplayed here also, although not quite as much. Good tune.
5241 Higher Love-Steve Winwood 1986 I like this, but there was a point where I started to grow tired of it. I like it more now that I don't hear it as much.
5240 Here With Me-REO Speedwagon 1988 Not one of their better ones.
5239 Karma-Journey 1977 I don't know this, but it sounds like a great cut.
5238 Dance Little Sister-Rolling Stones 1974 I don't think I've heard this.

5257 Little Jeanie-Elton John 1980 A good tune, one I actually don't remember hearing in 1980. I wasn't listening to much radio that year, but if I did hear it, I probably wasn't paying attention.
5255 YYZ-Rush 1981 This was a great Rush tune, and one that many musicians were blown away by. Moving Pictures was their biggest selling album, and had some of their best material.
5254 Harlem Shuffle-Rolling Stones 1986 For the life of me, I never figured out why they did this, much less put it out as the first single. It did well on the charts in spring '86, but was very quickly forgotten..
5253 Act Naturally-Beatles 1965 A nod to their American country heroes. Ringo is the perfect one to sing this tune..
5251 Let’s Put the “X” in Sex-Kiss 1989 I remember the video, Paul Stanley wasn't playing guitar, he was just singing. A lot of their post-makeup work was boring and predictable, IMO.
5250 Get Up-Van Halen 1986 Hot For Teacher pt. 2..... Of the 5150 album, I like "Summer Nights", "Best Of Both Worlds" and "5150", and those are pretty much the only VH tunes I like with Sammy Hagar.
5246 Play the Game-Queen 1980 The first Queen album to feature synthesizers was "The Game". It was a good album, but they started going downhill from there.
5245 Listen to the Music- Doobie Brothers 1972 Eh.... I'll still take Michael McDonald over Tom Johnston.
5244 If This is it-Huey Lewis & the News 1984 Big hit in summer '84, a fun time in my life!
5243 I Thank You-Sam & Dave 1968 Yeah, I'll take ZZ top, too....
5242 Soul Man-Sam & Dave 1967 ...But I'll take this over The Blues Brothers!
5241 Higher Love-Steve Winwood 1986 I always like to hear this one. One of those records that HAD to go to #1, it was just too good NOT to!
5238 Dance Little Sister-Rolling Stones 1974 Low point in their career...

5257 Little Jeanie-Elton John 1980 Great song but I wouldn't say it's his best since 1977.
5256 Lightning Strikes-Yes 1999 Don't know it.
5255 YYZ-Rush 1981 Don't know it. Don't care to.
5254 Harlem Shuffle-Rolling Stones 1986 Definitely not their best
5253 Act Naturally-Beatles 1965 I think I've heard this once.
5252 Love Song-Anne Murray 1973/74 Pretty good.
5251 Let’s Put the “X” in Sex-Kiss 1989 Don't like this era from them.
5250 Get Up-Van Halen 1986 I like the "A" side of this.
5249 I Wanna Talk About Me-Toby Keith 2001 Uggh, next...
5248 The Wind-Cat Stevens 1971 Not his best.
5247 I’m Crying-Journey 1980 Underrated track from them
5246 Play the Game-Queen 1980 Never played on radio.
5245 Listen to the Music- Doobie Brothers 1972 Kind of overplayed but it's a classic.
5244 If This is it-Huey Lewis & the News 1984 One of their best IMO.
5243 I Thank You-Sam & Dave 1968 Give me Sam & Dave
5242 Soul Man-Sam & Dave 1967 Overplayed
5241 Higher Love-Steve Winwood 1986 I like hearing this occasionally. It's a good song but overplayed.
5240 Here With Me-REO Speedwagon 1988 Nope.
5239 Karma-Journey 1977 Love this! Neal is so underrated as a singer. Fab guitar work.
5238 Dance Little Sister-Rolling Stones 1974 Eh, it's okay.

5257 Little Jeanie-Elton John 1980 The ending just goes on forever. Otherwise, a GREAT tune. But earlier "Mama can't buy you love" was unbeatable. And "I don't wanna go on..." is close to unbeatable as well.
5256 Lightning Strikes-Yes 1999 Reasonable.
5255 YYZ-Rush 1981 Love it.
5254 Harlem Shuffle-Rolling Stones 1986 Forgettable top 5 remake. Liked it then, but I hardly play it at all today. Prefer Bob & Earl's original.
5253 Act Naturally-Beatles 1965 Funny, lighthearted tune.
5252 Love Song-Anne Murray 1973/74 Good one. Doesn't quite compare to her 1978-1980 era, though.
5251 Let’s Put the “X” in Sex-Kiss 1989 LOTS of play my first year of college. At first I thought Paul sang "You're begging for an apple" LOL--it's eyeful, of course...
5250 Get Up-Van Halen 1986 CRANK IT!!!!!!!!! In my "Be good to yourself" phase in the spring '86 when I seriously CRANKED certain tunes to 11!!! Woo hoo!!! Of course, with the "s" word, radio couldn't touch this one, maybe...(thinking Jet Airliner...)
5249 I Wanna Talk About Me-Toby Keith 2001 (new addition) Eh.
5248 The Wind-Cat Stevens 1971 (new addition) This is a nice, sweet short tune. Back when short acoustic songs DID sound wonderful. A super opener to "Teaser and the Firecat".
5247 I’m Crying-Journey 1980 I remember seeing this title on the Departure album, and I don't think my radio stations ever played it. Hmmm...
5246 Play the Game-Queen 1980 Awesome song. A crime it didn't hit top 40, especially hearing this LOTS from summer '80-spring '81.
5245 Listen to the Music- Doobie Brothers 1972 One off my pickiest, idiosynchratic moments. For whatever reason, it MUST be the long ending! Call me weird, but that's just me. Sure, it's repetition, but the song always makes me feel better hearing that chorus over and over again...I guess I'll have to own the "Toulousse Strweet" CD, for the box set directly says it's the short version... Anyway, my highest ranking song on my own list. I've always LOVED it, VERY fresh for 1972. (I originally thought this was from '75 ior '76 even until I got my first Whitburn book in 1985.)
5244 If This is it-Huey Lewis & the News 1984 Great tune, but their former 3 hits were even better. NOTHING beats that "Heart". NOTHING.
5243 I Thank You-Sam & Dave 1968 Love that spoken intro! Both versions are awesome. Cool, soulful organ.
5242 Soul Man-Sam & Dave 1967 I actually have NOT heard this too much recently! And maybe that's quite a good thing for me. Would much rather hear this today over Aretha's "Respect".
5241 Higher Love-Steve Winwood 1986 One of the VERY best. Period. LOVED it from Day 1, and has NEVER let up one bit.
5240 Here With Me-REO Speedwagon 1988 I actually like this MORE than "In my Dreams"! But nothing beats "Keep on loving you".
5239 Karma-Journey 1977 Good one.
5238 Dance Little Sister-Rolling Stones 1974 It's good.

Missed this on Friday before I went to Boston. OK I'll do it now.
5257 Little Jeanie-Elton John 1980 Never cared that much for it.
5256 Lightning Strikes-Yes 1999 Don't know it.
5255 YYZ-Rush 1981 Don't know the song, but I DO know that YYZ is the Toronto airport. I believe the three-letter code for all Canadian airports begin with Y.
5254 Harlem Shuffle-Rolling Stones 1986 I know this was a pretty big hit, but I barely remember it. I probably avoided it. I'm much more familiar with the Bob and Earl version from about 20 years earlier.
5253 Act Naturally-Beatles 1965 This was another of those Ringo C&W songs that they threw at you now and then, especially in the mid sixties.
5252 Love Song-Anne Murray 1973/74 I was living in Nova Scotia then. Anne is from Nova Scotia. They played that song so- damn - much!! AAAAAAAAh!
5251 Let’s Put the “X” in Sex-Kiss 1989 Don't know it.
5250 Get Up-Van Halen 1986 Don't know it
5249 I Wanna Talk About Me-Toby Keith 2001 (new addition) Don't know it.
5248 The Wind-Cat Stevens 1971 (new addition) Haven't heard it in years. Remember... I'm boycotting Cat Stevens.
5247 I’m Crying-Journey 1980 Don't know it.
5246 Play the Game-Queen 1980 Heard it a few times back then, but I've kinda forgotten it. I did like it, though. Maybe I'll have to look it up.
5245 Listen to the Music- Doobie Brothers 1972 An old buddy of mine from back in the Maine days used to say that this was going to become one of the "all time anthems". Didn't quite get that far, but it sure got a lot of airplay. Not a bad song.
5244 If This is it-Huey Lewis & the News 1984 Huey's voice annoys me.
5243 I Thank You-Sam & Dave 1968 Not bad
5242 Soul Man-Sam & Dave 1967 better
5241 Higher Love-Steve Winwood 1986 Always liked this one.
5240 Here With Me-REO Speedwagon 1988 Don't know it.
5239 Karma-Journey 1977 Don't know it
5238 Dance Little Sister-Rolling Stones 1974 Only vaguely remember it.

5257 - 5256. Don't know any of these. 5252 Love Song - Anne Murray I just don't care for Anne Murray. Not at all. 5251 Let’s Put the “X” in Sex - Kiss Um...yeah... 5250 Get Up - Van Halen Not familiar with it. 5249 I Wanna Talk About Me - Toby Keith Not bad, but I'm really kind of sick of this one now. 5248 - 5245. Don't know 'em. 5244 If This is it - Huey Lewis & the News Two thumbs up. 5243 I Thank You - Sam & Dave Don't know it. 5242 Soul Man - Sam & Dave Two Sam and Dave songs in a row. Well, I'm tired of this one too. 5241 Higher Love - Steve Winwood They play this song in Big Business! I always liked it. 5240 - 5238. Don't know these.

5257 Little Jeanie-Elton John 1980 Great song but I wouldn't say it's his best since 1977. Well what would be (other than the duet with Collective Soul)?
