So have you noticed the new country songs haven't been on here much lately? They appear in clumps! LOL!
5217 Rockin’ Robin-Michael Jackson 1972
This is what I think is so cool. I did not PLAN for this and the original to be so close together. It just happened that way. So my mind must really keep them together. Not a bad cover.
5216 Our Day Will Come-Ruby & the Romantics
1963
Nice song from that lost period that doesn't get radio play these days.
5215 Chain Lightning-Steely Dan 1975 (previous ranking 3720)
Never been a Steely fave, but I am surprised I dropped it this far down. The weakest on an otherwise great album.
5214 Yesterday’s Gone-Chad & Jeremy 1964
The only song I really know by this duo. Nice British folky stuff.
5213 The Wah Watusi-Orlons 1962
Same deal as the Ruby & the Romantics song.
5212 G.T.O.-Ronny & the Daytonas 1964
Cool Beach Boys sound alike song.
5211 Take Me Home-Cher 1979
Cher goes disco, but then who didn't in those days? Decent, if overlooked song.
5210 Dancing in the Streets-Martha & Vendellas
1964
Typical Motown oldie. Take it or leave it.
5209 One Fine Day-Chiffons 1963
Again, typical of the times (am I seeing a trend here?).
5208 Nothin’ But a Good Time-Poison 1988
Not only were they a chick metal act, but their songs were corny.
5207 Angel Boy-Tim McGraw 2001 (new addition)
I actually don't mind this one. I think it was briefly a single. I really like the music on it.
5206 Down On The Border-Little River Band 1982
Only the first appearance by LRB. Shows you how strong they are. I didn't grow up on this one, so it's not a fave.
5205 Don’t Let Me Down-Twisted Sister 1984
An album cut on the second cassette I ever owned. I loved this tape. Decent song.
5204 Working Class Hero-John Lennon 1971
John lets the F word out twice within one song. That makes it worthy of being ranked on here alone. Not a great song overall though.
5203 Barefootin’-Robert Parker 1966
I woulda thought this was early 60s. The time had passed for corny dance songs by this point.
5202 Good Lovin’-Rascals 1966
Like the Rascals lots, but this one's time has passed.
5201 East St. Lous Toodle-Oo-Steely Dan 1974
(new addition)
If I am remembering this correctly, this is a little minute and half instrumental, nothing significant.
5200 You’ll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)-Lou Rawls 1976
I think of this in the same context as Show and Tell. Same time period, same style song. I like this when I hear it.
5199 He's So Fine-Chiffons 1963
Again, like the Rockin' Robin case, I think it's cool when these similar songs get ranked near each other (5210, 5209). I'll take George Harrion's remake.
5198 If Looks Could Kill-Heart 1986
The one of 5 singles from the album that didn't have a video, didn't go high on the charts, and didn't leave a lasting impression.
Have at it!
