One I never bothered to listen to, until the past few years. Cool tune that is made up of Little Richard and Elvis song titles. Early speed metal.

One of their very last hits that I discovered on their Rhino collection. Not their best, but still not bad.

4995 RSVP-Heart 1987

Bad Animals is the only Heart LP I know start to finish. The album cuts aren't that bad.

4994 Cotton Fields-Creedence Clearwater Revival 1969

The old Leadbelly song also covered by the Beach Boys. Yes, on that second Chronicle.

4993 Blue Jean Bop-Paul McCartney 1999

Another McCartney cover on the Run Devil Run CD. I THINK this was Gene Vincent originally, but I could certainly be wrong.

I have the original single on Acme records, which is probably one of the more valuable records I own. Neat novelty that is mentioned on every Stooge special. I want a Shemp tribute!!!

Only one of the five singles off this album did anything for me, and this wasn't it.

I have a buddy who made me a Christmas CD, and credited this to Leon Redbone. Who the hell did he think the high pitched voice was? As much as I prefer Elvis' version, this is the quintesential rock version.

CCR covers many early rock standards. They really rocked up this one. (Chronicle II again)

Probably one of the earliest, "I'm not taking a man's shit" songs.

Decent song from their most recent release, but a bit too slow.

I think we've posted on this before. It's very weird about Venus and Sugar Sugar. It's like they started out to do a more generic tribute, then did a Beatles song and thought 'hey this is cool, let's do another Beatles song" then 27 Beatles songs later.... Overall, this is OK, but how the heck did it get to #1?

Not bad, but as I often point out, it's just a cover of two earlier versions from 1960. One by Johnny Bond and one by Charlie Ryan. There's not a whole lot of difference amongst all three versions.

4997 - Speed King - I first heard this as a kid courtesy of my brother's 8 track of 24 Carat Purple . The minute I Heard the intro with Ian's drumming I was hooked.


4996 - Someone Sometime - Not familiar - although I would like to hear some of these later cuts . I've never seen a copy of that compilation locally, is it still available?

4995 - RSVP - Can't remember how this goes but I did buy the album when it came out .


4994 - Cottonfields - This is one of the few CCR tracks I never heard as a kid . Didn't hear this until the early 80's.


4993 - Blue Jean Bop - You are correct it was indeed Mr.Vincent . I have both versions . I love the sound of this record.


4992 - Don't Dream It's Over - Awesome track.


4991 - LOL about Kirk - I remember the band name but never heard any of the songs that I know of , If I did they didn't leave much of an impression.

4990 - Red Hot -I remember reading about Robert in Rock Scene magazine around this time - '77 / '78 - but it wasn't until maybe 5 or 6 years ago that I saw a video clip of him - too bad I can't remember the tune! d'oh! although I remember it was quite good . He also covered Marshall Crenshaw's Someday Someway.


4989 - Thunder and Lightning - Don't recall this.


4988 - Stars On 45 - I remember really liking this at the time - I thought it was great ! - I bought this 45 also and my brother bought the first two LP's.

Perfect Way--I actually liked this when it was current. Haven't heard it in years. I remember one of the Milli Vanilli guys being interviewed back then on MTV or somewhere, and he said he loved the band name "Scritti Politti", and he wanted his band name to be something similar, so he thought of Milli Vanilli. And look what happened to them. Word to the wise: Don't name your group anything that sounds remotely like "Scritti Politti".

Stars on 45--This was EVERYWHERE on the airwaves back then. I got tired of it in a hurry.

Hot Rod Lincoln--This gets a lot of airplay on our local oldies station. I don't mind hearing it occasionally.

Someone, sometime--Their compilation is on my "want list" this summer! Shouldn't be too disappointed...

RSVP--Never got into the "Bad Animals" cuts.

Cotton fields--good, but prefer the Highwaymen's version.

Blue Jean bop--another one to look up--the Gene Vincent original's great.

Don't dream it's over--great tune--should be in some "80's Hall of Fame" tunes.

Perfect way--LOVE this always--eternal top 700 for me.

Red Hot--Not a bad version of it. Sam the Sham did it best.
