Man, it's deadsville around here!!
4997 Speed King-Deep Purple 1970 (new addition)
One I never bothered to listen to, until the past few years. Cool tune that is made up of Little Richard and Elvis song titles. Early speed metal.
4996 Someone, Sometime-New Colony Six 1972
One of their very last hits that I discovered on their Rhino collection. Not their best, but still not bad.
4995 RSVP-Heart 1987
Bad Animals is the only Heart LP I know start to finish. The album cuts aren't that bad.
4994 Cotton Fields-Creedence Clearwater Revival 1969
The old Leadbelly song also covered by the Beach Boys. Yes, on that second Chronicle.
4993 Blue Jean Bop-Paul McCartney 1999
Another McCartney cover on the Run Devil Run CD. I THINK this was Gene Vincent originally, but I could certainly be wrong.
4992 Don't Dream it's Over-Crowded House 1987
Like I said yesterday, give me Split Enz. At least I can wash them out with good shampoo.
4991 Perfect Way-Scritti Politti 1985
This song is way annoying and I remember them and this song be referenced on Growing Pains in more than one episode, like they were some hot act or something. Kirk Cameron is a dork.
4990 Red Hot-Robert Gordon 1977
One of the few songs (along with stuff by the Stray Cats) that my 66 year old uncle will acknowledge after 1963.
4989 Thunder and Lightning-Chicago 1980
Just before they got really bad. NOT the Chi Coltrane song.
4988 Stars on 45-Star on 45 1981
I thought this song was so cool at the time. But to this day, I don't understand why Venus and Sugar, Sugar are on a Beatles medley.
4987 Hot Rod Lincoln-Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen 1972
Doesn't it seem like this goes along with Red Hot? Decent novelty song.
4986 Fun, Fun, Fun-Beach Boys 1964
These songs are fun, fun, fun, but overplayed, overplayed, overplayed, compared to their later 60s songs.
4985 Curly Shuffle-Jump ‘n the Saddle 1983/84
I have the original single on Acme records, which is probably one of the more valuable records I own. Neat novelty that is mentioned on every Stooge special. I want a Shemp tribute!!!
4984 Dr. Feelgood-Motley Crue 1989
Only one of the five singles off this album did anything for me, and this wasn't it.
4983 White Christmas-Drifters 1955 (new addition)
I have a buddy who made me a Christmas CD, and credited this to Leon Redbone. Who the hell did he think the high pitched voice was? As much as I prefer Elvis' version, this is the quintesential rock version.
4982 Good Golly Molly-Creedence Clearwater Revival 1969
CCR covers many early rock standards. They really rocked up this one. (Chronicle II again)
4981 You Don't Own Me-Lesley Gore 1963/64
Probably one of the earliest, "I'm not taking a man's shit" songs.
4980 Tired of You-Foo Fighters 2002 (new addition)
Decent song from their most recent release, but a bit too slow.
4979 Go Jimmy, Go-Jimmy Clanton 1959/60
I remember my dad buying this never heard anymore single for his jukebox. Amazing I can remember this, but not remember what I told Ken and dodger 2 days later!
4978 Islands in the Stream-Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton 1983
Decent Barry Gibb penned tune by these two huge crossover stars.
Go for it!
