Hey, big week here......
BTW-I have a pretty cool Discussion topic over on the Rock-n-Roll board. Check it out!!
4937 Keep it Together-Madonna 1990
I just BARELY know this one. Basically know it from my wife. The first 2-3 albums were her best.
4936 It Keeps Right on a Hurtin’-Elvis 1969 (new addition)
Again, the Memphis sessions. Who did this first, Johnny Tilloston? Still never heard his!
4935 Take Me in Your Arms-Doobie Brothers 1975
I actually haven't heard this in awhile. Decent, but I'm not huge on the Doobies overall.
4934 I Wonder Why-Dion & the Belmonts 1958
Cool doo-wop songs. Dion's cool himself.
4933 Human Touch-Bruce Springsteen 1992
As if the Springsteen/Springfield thing wasn't confusing enough, Bruce records a song with a title that was the same as hit of Rick's! Probably Bruce's last decent song, IMO.
4932 Strangered in the Night-Tom Petty 1977
Album cut from Tom's first album. It's a really strong debut overall. Pretty timeless.
4931 Pink Cadillac-Bruce Springsteen 1984
Bruce was famous for putting non-album tracks on his B sides. It was cool in that you were getting new stuff from him, but if you had the albums, you had to go buy all the singles! This was the B side of Dancing in the Dark, and the only one to get regular airplay.
4930 The One I Love-R.E.M. 1987
This was probably the first REM song I knew. One of their better ones, as I am not a big fan of theirs.
4929 Do Anything You Want to-Thin Lizzy 1979
Thin Lizzy is SO overlooked. They had songs other than The Boys are Back in Town!! This is a good one, but there are others so much better.
4928 How Sweet it is (To Be Loved By You)-James Taylor 1975
Again, I prefer this JT cover over the original.
4927 Hitchin’ a Ride-Vanity Fair 1970
Another one of those umpteen one hit wonders of the early 70s.
4926 The Pied Piper-Crispian St. Peters 1966
Even though this is the mid 60s, I always group this in with those bubble gummy early 70s hits like the one above. And see how my mind works, I group them together.
4925 Rough Ride-Paul McCartney 1989
Decent cut from his 89 release. Just listened to the disc the other day. Nice to break out once in awhile.
4924 Ooh My Head-Ritchie Valens 1958
A really good track from Ritchie that Zeppelin borrowed (and gave Ritchie's mom co-writing credit) on the song Boogie With Stu.
4923 Donna-Ritchie Valens 1958/59
And another Ritchie track. Is this the first time on the list that we see the same artist twice in a row? No matter, nice ballad.
4922 Happiest Days/Another Brick in the Wall part 2-Pink Floyd 1980
Legendary, if overplayed song. Gotta be this full version if I am to listen to it.
4921 Finding My Way-Rush 1974
Decent track from their first Zeppelin like album, before Neil Peart joined them and they became more prog-metal.
4920 I’ll Stand By You-Pretenders 1994
Ok, the other day I said Back on the Chain Gang was the best post Farndon/Honeyman-Scott track, but I guess this is! LOL! But this has been overplayed.
4919 Dancing Days-Stone Temple Pilots 1995
Decent cover from the Zeppelin tribute disc. Got airplay, didn't make their Greatest Hits disc, but that doesn't bother me.
4918 Time After Time-Ozzy Osbourne 1992
Ozzy had tons of success with this album, this was a decent single. Not the Cyndi Lauper song.
Have at it!
