4917 Thank God, I’m a Country Boy-John Denver 1975
This became a cult fave with a group I used to hang with. It was kindof fun.
4916 Nashville Cats-Lovin’ Spoonful 1966/67
A fun song, but not their best. Doesn't really get play these days.
4915 Name-Goo Goo Dolls 1995
The Goo Goos are ok, but a tad on the lightweight side of the 90s stuff for me.
4914 Thorn in My Side-Eurythmics 1986
I never thought much of them or Annie Lennox, but I thought this was a decent song, probably because it didn't get overplayed.
4913 For Once in My Life-Stevie Wonder 1968
Gets plenty of oldies play. I really preferred his mid 70s stuff more.
4912 Tallahassee Lassie Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon-1959
Wow, that year seems wrong too! I guess like Jan & Dean, he got his start in the very late 50s and peaked in the early 60s. He had fun "rhyming" like songs.
4911 Shake, Rattle and Roll-Bill Haley & His Comets 1954
The last appearance of Bill. Has more to it than the other 2 hits.
4910 After the Rain-Nelson 1990
Wow, I was generous here! Never into these guys. Made the cover of metal magazines all based on their hair.
4909 Snow Blind-Black Sabbath 1972
A Sabbath song about drugs, what a surprise! Decent one.
4908 Safety Dance-Men Without Hats 1983
Example of a song I thought was so cool back then and I am EH to now.
4907 Sex Type Thing-Stone Temple Pilots 1992
Wow, this got all kinds of play at the bar my wife and I used to hang at. This album was huge. Not the best from that album however.
4906 Nothing-Edie Brickell & New Bohemians 1988
One of many pleasant album cuts from their debut.
4905 Beat the Time-Edie Brickell & New Bohemians 1988
Two in a row. Another good one, this one is more upbeat.
4904 Bring it On Home-Led Zeppelin 1969
I know this is a sacrilige to huge Zep fans, but I'm not as big on the first 2 albums as I am on the rest of them. Nothing that special about this one.
4903 Shut Up-Joe Walsh 1992
I bought Joe's 92 release for a song for Fairbanks, Alaska, and this ended up being another cool cut. He tells various people to shut up. He mentions Frey and Henley but DOESN'T tell them to shut up. I think he should have, at least Henley.
4902 Bark at the Moon-Ozzy Osbourne 1983
Ozzy's stuff at this point was getting less classic. This one is just average.
4901 Breaking Up is Hard to Do (Slow)-Neil Sedaka 1975/76
Like I said before, I prefer this slowed down, Vegasy version. I don't know why.
4900 Blue Bayou-Roy Orbison 1963
Very nice, beautiful voice, but I wonder if H2 will kill me if I say I prefer Linda Ronstadt's cover?
4899 My True Story-Jive Five 1961
Probably better known as "Cry, Cry, Cry". That's how I remember it! Good doo wop styled song.
4898 Back in the High Life Again-Steve Winwood 1987
Similar to Wasted on the Way in that it was a former hippie talking about becoming a Yuppie.
Go for it.
