A very psycho album cut from The Wall. Cool though.

4775 Song That We Were Singing-Paul McCartney 1997

Paul's Flaming Pie album wasn't bad, and sound wise, it was more stripped down than Flowers in the Dirt and Off the Ground. This is one of the good ones.

4774 Laguna Sunrise-Black Sabbath 1972

I sought this song out after I found out it was cut from the CD version of We Sold Our Soul.... Interesting instrumental.

4773 See Emily Play-Pink Floyd 1967

Pretty cool early psychedelic hit from Pink.

4772 What a Girl Wants-Christina Aguilera 1999/00 (previous ranking 1274)

Ok, maybe it should be lower, but look at the original ranking! Her voice wasn't too bad on this though.

One of their unjustly ignored singles.

It has been said George wrote this while on acid for the first time in 10 years. And 10 years after Here Comes the Sun!

This one's decent, but they had already peaked.

A song that got MTV play, but seems to be left off his single disc compilations.

This one is decent, if a bit corney.

Typical 50s dance song faire.

The whistling at the beginning always reminds me of Winds of Change by the Scorpions. This got LOTS of play on the last classic rock station here.

4764 Rag Doll-Frankie Valli & Four Seasons 1964

I prefer this over the more typical faire like Sherry and Walk Like a Man.

4763 Someplace Else-George Harrison 1987

One of the slowies from George's huge comeback album.


4762 Say You Will-Foreigner 1987/88

This was ok, but they were over their peak period.

4761 Baby, I Need Your Lovin'-Johnny Rivers 1967

Johnny's cover of the Tops classic. (See tomorrow) I have a cool clip of him doing this on Sullivan.

Do you believe that original year? Nice enough, I guess, but I'm just not big on Billy.

I remember when MTV played the live video to this day after day after day after day....I didn't think much of it begin with. BEST.....OF......BOTH.....WORLDS......REAL annoying.

This is a cover of a 1960 hit by Harold Dorman. It's strange in that both versions sound very similar. Johnny didn't go out of his way to put his "stamp" on his cover.

4766 At the Hop-Danny & the Juniors 1957/58
A true '50s classic. One of those songs that firmly affixed Rock N Roll into the white community. That said, I'm only lukewarm on the song, and like their follow-up, the strangely predictive 'Rock and Roll Is Here To Stay' a whole lot better.

Never thought about it before, but you're right about the whistling, Adam. There are a lot of Billy songs that I like better, but I happen to have the Greatest Hits Vol 1&2 cd in my car right now, and just listened to The Stranger last night, driving home. It's growing on me.

I always lump their big three from 1964 together (Dawn, Ronnie, Rag Doll) They all sound similar and rely heavily on the drum. I like them all, but Ronnie is my fave.

Hey Dave! Actually, White Lightning was on the On Earth as it is in Heaven LP. The Rascals cover was on the following year's White Hot album (which is great through and through!).

What a Girl Wants--Christina is one of the few "pop divas" out these days who can actually sing halfways decent. This song's not too bad actually, but nothing I'd seek out to listen to.

Rain on the Roof--Good tune.

Here Comes the Moon--Don't know it, but sounds interesting.

White Lightning--I don't think I'm familiar with anything by Angel.

Time Heals--Don't know it.

Mountain of Love--Very enjoyable. I like it a lot.

At The Hop--Classic, but nothing I ever went crazy over.

Stranger--I was really into Billy Joel back in the day. I love this song. Played it constantly up in my room on my Lloyd's stereo system, complete with 8 track. LOL!

Rag Doll--Didn't much care for it. I'd rather listen to Aerosmith's song of the same name.

Someplace Else--Not familiar.

Say You Will--Never liked it much. Kind of annoying.

Baby I Need Your Lovin'--Excellent. Always liked it.

Take My Breath Away--I tried to like this. I really did. But I just never could get into it. And Jessica Simpson's cover doesn't help matters much.

She's Got a Way--Another good one from Billy.

Best of Both Worlds--No thanks. Sammy's voice sounds particularly screechy on this track.

4777 - Midnight Blue - Iloved this back then and played it so often - a real fave among their album tracks.

4776 - One Of My Turns - Thought it was a very strange song when I first heard it on the b - side of the Another Brick ... 45.


4775 - Songs That We Were Singing - Although Off The Ground includes some great tunes I found it a bit preachy at times - "Flaming" is a great album.


4774 - Laguana Sunrise - Heard this on my brother's 8 track of "We Sold" it's bben a long while since I've heard it.
