NOT a lot of good stuff today......
4677 She Thinks I Still Care-Elvis 1976/77
Right near the end for the King. Not bad, but even I admit the last couple years were pretty scary.
4676 Workin' for a Livin'-Huey Lewis & the News 1982
Not bad. Huey recently re-recorded it with one of the country guys, continuing the big rock/country crossover.
4675 For Whom the Bell Tolls-Metallica 1984
"TIME MARCHES ON!!" Back when they wanted to be the heaviest band in the world, and weren't worried about their hair gel.
4674 Earl of Roseland-Styx 1972
Another early one, and I think this shows up on most early compilations. This song was kindof a bridge to their more mainstream era.
4673 Feelin’-Van Halen 1995
Right now, I don't even remember how this goes, but I THINK it's an instrumental. The album had 3, 2 of them right in a row!
4672 Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters-Elton John 1972
Elton had so many album cuts that still get lots of play today. This is one of my lesser faves.
4671 A Matter of Trust-Billy Joel 1986
I really didn't dig his later 80s stuff at all.
4670 Jimmy Olsen's Blues-Spin Doctors 1993
They basically had 3 radio hits. For awhile, I liked them because I wasn't hearing much rock on the radio. But they all have a similar sound, thus all 3 in a row.
4669 Little Miss Can't Be Wrong-Spin Doctors 1993
God, this was everywhere, especially VH-1!
4668 Two Princes-Spin Doctors 1993
.....And yet, I think this is considered their biggest one.
4667 Long Tall Sally-Beatles 1964
The Beatles always did a good job with the rave ups they covered.
4666 Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat-Don Henley 1992
I think this was on a soundtrack maybe? I remember it getting a fair amount of airplay though.
4665 Hippy, Hippy Shake-Swinging Blue Jeans 1964
"For goodness sake!" I'm surprised this isn't held in higher regard among party songs.
4664 Separate Ways-Elvis 1972/73
NOT the Journey song! Decent, not as good as other stuff from the period.
4663 Summer Nights-Van Halen 1986
When I bought the album and saw the title, I wondered if VH was covering Grease! Good, I should break out this album again.
4662 Genie in a Bottle-Christina Aguilera 1999 (previous ranking 1233)
I apologize, once again, for that ranking. Her voice is pretty good though.
4661 You’re My Only Girl (Jenny)-Barry Manilow 1983
Another one I discovered on those compilations I bought my wife. I always picture Forrest Gump singing this.
4660 Hope of Deliverence-Paul McCartney 1993
I think this was the first single off the album. Nice song, not one I listen to much though.
4659 Inside-Van Halen 1986
The VH boys thought they were cool saying "crap" in the beginning of this. The song's not bad.
4658 Who’ll Stop the Rain-Creedence Clearwater Revival 1970
A classic that has been killed by oldies and classic radio.
Go for it!
