Every year, I mention the once big acts that play at the local fests around here.
One of the biggest is a ribfest a couple of towns away. There is like 50 different rib vendors, beer and music acts. And the acts are usually once big acts-Peter Frampton, Pat Benatar, 38 Special, America, and Rick Springfield are just a few. Not bad for a $5 enterance fee.
Well this year, one of the acts is-Sugar Ray!
Now, I am not a fan, but weren't these guys huge just a few years back? It seemed like they were one of the biggest current rock acts along with Matchbox 20. There is a line in the Kid Rock song, "Cocky" where he says, "....get more ass than Mark McGrath" because the record label was positioning him as the next poster boy of rock.
And now they are playing a local town fest.
Now, I have seen the Kinleys twice in the past 4 years at local fests but (1) they are country and (2) beyond their initial ACM Best New Artist award, they went largely unnoticed.

Whoa! - I don't mind a couple of Sugar Ray songs but the last couple of "hits" were simply just awful.
Yeah and Matchbox 20 they've kind of disappeared although a couple of days ago I did catch a couple of minutes of a concert from maybe (?) 2 years ago that MuchMore Music showed.
