April 22nd, at CSU Convocation Center in Cleveland. Once again, I'll be seeing one of my all-time favorite artists in concert... the one and only Sting! He's calling this tour "Broken Music," named after his autobiography. They're going to use a "stripped down" band: Sting, two guitarists, and a drummer. That's it! It's going to be one of those "intimate" things. Sounds awesome, huh? This will be the 4th. time I'll get to see him, but I can't tell you how excited I am about this one!

My 4th opportunity to see Sting perform in concert was by far the best! I'd read articles on the "stripped down" band before even purchasing my ticket, and I thought I was in for an acoustic, low-key, intimate performance... WRONG! The show was jammin'... pumpin'... cookin'... ROCKIN'! With nearly every song, the band delivered with unstoppable energy that gave me butterflies in my stomach. I was in my seat bobbing my head and playing "air drums." People must have thought I looked ridiculous, but I didn't care... this was the Sting show I have been waiting for! It was probably the closest that I'll get to being at an actual Police concert! Those of you out there who've never seen Sting in person, or were just thinking about going to see him, let me tell you now... GO SEE HIM! Now is the time! I mean, look at the setlist... he opens with "Message In A Bottle..." not the slow acoustic version, the POLICE version! He's dusting off some old favorites like "Next To You," "Driven To Tears," and "The Bed's Too Big Without You." He even joked with the crowd and said he'd be doing some of his older songs like "My Sharona." (LOL) Two girls in the audience were holding up a sign that said "Ghost Story," so they did the first verse of the song, on the spot, just for them! How cool is that? He did kind of a jazzed-up version of "Invisible Sun," which I loved! He did some HUGE personal faves of mine like "Spirits In The Material World" and "Fields Of Gold." He did "Why Should I Cry For You," something I thought I'd NEVER see him perform. And oh yes, he did "A Day In The Life..." as in... The Beatles. Yes, THAT "A Day In The Life!" He also pays tribute to the late great Johnny Cash with "I Hung My Head." And of course there's "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take," always crowd-pleasers! But perhaps the very best moment for me was when he fooled us all by doing the intro to "The Soul Cages," and then started singing "There's a little black spot on the sun today..." and going right into "King Of Pain!" Whew... I'm so glad that Sting decided to do this tour. I don't think I've ever been to a more enjoyable concert. I have to go lie down now.
