This is one of my favorite Steely Dan albums, along with Aja and Pretzel Logic. Every track is great, especially 'Doctor Wu'. I've always loved that one!

I went into the local used cd place looking for Steeley Dan about 2 years ago, and the owner is a huge fan so he told me for $1/cd he'd burn me some. I went for it. This is one of the ones he gave me, but I've gotta be honest and say I've never listened to it. Shortly after I got stuff from him, I rec'd the greatest hits 2cd set, and shelved the copies.
My favorite one is still Deacon Blue.

My request, and I'm the last to answer! LOL!
Here is an album that if you would have shown it to me about 6 years ago, I would not have known a SINGLE track, and woulda called it weak. Now I'm looking at it, and I can actually sing each one!
The singles didn't do all that well which is probably why I didn't know it too well.
Doctor Wu, Black Friday and Bad Sneakers get play on our station here, and they never did on the old stations we had.
My fave is Everyone's Gone to the Movies, which of course inspired one of our boards on here.
Great album!

I knew 'Black Friday' and 'Doctor Wu', but that was about it. As you say, the singles from this album weren't too successful, and didn't get much airplay back in the day. But when I heard it all the way through, I was really impressed! 'Everyone's Gone to the Movies' is probably my second favorite track on the album, after 'Doctor Wu'. Great song, and a perfect board description!

Hi Dawn. Can't let Sat-the Music Man get the last word.
Not my favorite Steely Dan album. But there are some good songs here. There was a lot of different sounds vying for airtime in 1975, & I think Steely Dan may have got lost in the shuffle as not being "pop" enough, "upbeat" enough or "disco" enough. Doctor Wu is a great song, as is Bad Sneakers. Others I like are Chain Lightning and Everyone's Gone to the Movies. Favorite though from this album would have to be Black Friday.

You make a good point there. As you say, that was a time of great musical diversity, and Steely Dan's sound didn't really fit the prevailing styles of the day. 'Bad Sneakers' and 'Chain Lightning' are both good songs, as is 'Black Friday'.
