A fantastic album that I think at times tends to be forgotten about . Besides the big hits - Best of My Love and Already Gone it contains some fine albums tracks like My Man written by Bernie Leadon for the late Gram Parsons. I have the album on vinyl Faves - including those above are: Midnight Flyer , Is It True (this could have easily been a hit IMO love it) , Ol' 55 , James Dean and Good Day in Hell .

Of course the big hits are Already Gone and Best of My Love. Both good tunes.
And all the classic rock stations around here have played James Dean.
The last station here occasionally would play Ol 55 and On the Border. The Timeless Rock station now plays Ol 55 for sure, and I think On the Border, but I can't remember how it goes! LOL! I like Ol 55 though! Rarity them doing a non self penned tune!

You make a good point, Ken - I think this album tends to be overshadowed by Hotel California and, to a lesser extent, The Long Run. It's a great one, though, with some superb tracks such as the ones you mentioned.

I'm surprised there weren't more singles from this album - I think 'Ol 55' and 'On the Border' could have both been successful single releases.

An overlooked classic by the Eagles. Got it on cassette. Great album, different sounds. Eagles are another group that always seemed to have a lot of quality albums. This is a good one though. Favorites: Best of My Love, Ol' 55, James Dean, Already Gone, Midnight Flyer, On the Border.

I have this album on vinyl, but haven't listened to it in years. Having said that, there are some great songs on here. The singles, of course, still get lots of airplay (at least around here), so I'm sure it hasn't been long since I've heard them. I've also always liked James Dean, Ol' 55, and On the Border. I'd have to listen to the album again to remember how the rest of the songs go. LOL!

Favorites: Best of My Love, Ol' 55, James Dean, Already Gone, Midnight Flyer, On the Border. I completely agree, dodger. It's a stylistically diverse album, kind of a transition between the more country-rock oriented earlier efforts and the more polished rock sounds of Hotel California and The Long Run.

The singles still get a good amount of airplay where I live also - 'Best of My Love' more on the oldies station, and 'Already Gone' more on the classic rock ones. I wish they played more of the album cuts such as 'James Dean', though. Great songs!

Good choice. I have this one on cassette. 'Ol 55 is my favorite Eagles song. Thanks, JP. I thought I remembered your listing 'Ol' 55' when I did a post about favorite Eagles songs on YL. It's excellent, one of the highlights of the album.
