What a great choice!!! Who's idea was it?? Oh, MINE! Critics will say I, II or the Fourth is their quintessential album, but most Zep fans will tell you this is their best. VERY heavy in parts, but some lighter stuff as well. As with any double album, their are a couple clunkers. Actually, my two least fave tunes are the A and B side of the album's single! (Trampled Underfoot/Black Country Woman) Kashmir has become a classic rock staple, but I am a little burnt on that one. In My Time of Dying used to freak me out, but I like it a lot now. Supposedly this was their prayer of forgiveness for their devil worshipping. Contains lines from the Animals' Bury My Body. Sick Again was supposed to be about Page's MUCH younger girlfriend! Best tunes- Ten Years Gone In My Time of Dying The Rover Down By the Seaside Night Flight

This was included in a collection of albums I bought a few years back for re - sale . I've mentioned before that because of classic rock radio overplay I'm kind of burnt on the band . Although I did watch the new DVD collection (my brother borrowed it from a friend) and I have to admit Iwas impressed . Anyway back to the album LOL . There is some fine material here .
Faves - Boogie With Stu , Down By The Seaside , Kashmir (remember this being played in Fast Times at Ridgemont High) , Houses of The Holy ( this is my fave from the album since it get's the least amount of airplay just a great tune) and In My Time of Dying
Hi Adam:) - That's right! I forgot about that - I know you think that they would have double checked , what a blunder! LOL

Did they NOT have the record in front of them when they wrote the script??? LOL!

I'm not familiar with all of their albums, but of the ones I've heard, I'd say this ranks among their best work. As you say, there are both heavy and lighter tracks represented on the album. I didn't know that about 'In My Time of Dying' - that's interesting. 'Ten Years Gone' and 'Trampled Under Foot' are my favorites.

The stations where I live are very guilty of that! Strangely, though, I only hear a handful of cuts from this album for some reason. Sat and I have talked about the new DVD, and it sounds like there is a lot of great footage on it!

There is something like 5 hours all together - it amazes me that as popular as the band was ,just how little video footage was shot. If you get the chance Dawn , you should check it out

Hi Dawn - Good Choice today. Funny but this is one Zep album I don't have (I've got a lot of them). Heard it and think it's one of their best. Kashmir, in my opinion, is Led Zep's best song. It just seems like they put it all together on the one song and it came out great (my 17 year son agrees with me on this one). More of an "album track" than a "single let's get something on the charts" album. I think Led Zep was actually better when they concentrated on the album tracks and forgot about the charts. Great classic album, someday I'll own it. Favorites: Kashmir (of course), Houses of the Holy, In My Time of Dying, Trampled Underfoot, Ten Years Gone, Black Country Woman.
Footnote: Last summer my daughter attended a band camp, and her orchestra conductor arranged an orchestra version of Kashmir, complete with four different violin solos. These high school kids did an awesome job transforming this classic rock song into an orchestra classic. We have it on CD and we listen to it along side the original.

You make a good point about their album tracks being better when they weren't necessarily intended as singles. That's really cool about your daughter's band camp performing 'Kashmir' - I imagine it sounded great!
