The tracks:

This was a difficult album for me to get into. I don't like the "Pigs" songs at all. But I always loved "Sheep" from the first. The sheep psalm in the middle is great, and this as energetic as Pink Floyd ever got musically (the final guitar solo really rocks!). I eventually got to like "Dogs" too. But the litany of things done to the protagonist at the end of the song sure is depressing.

LOVE this album! Contains Floyd songs I am NOT sick! Probably because my classic rock stations played nothing from it, like they drilled into the ground all the Wall and Dark Side stuff! But the bar Bekki and I hung out at had the disc and someone used to play the three big cuts a lot, so I really got to know it. What sucked though was they had the jukebox rigged so whenever the song stopped or went quiet, the radio would play. So during those mostly silent parts of Dogs, they radio would kick on! I love teasing my dog by making him listening to the dogs barking on the song and driving him nuts! LOL! Love Pigs on the Wing the most, with Dogs second, followed by Sheep. But the album needs to be listened to altogether. Can't recommend this album enough!

Hi Dawn:) My oldest brother has the album ,and I heard quite a bit as a kid - I thought the cover was quite funny back then with the pig flying over the London skyline. I borrowed it from him to listen to back in the 80's, went to listen to it one day and all I heard was a bit of the first song and I fell asleep LOL:) I woke up and the record was over!! My classic rock station in say the last year and a half has started to play songs from it more frequently although nowhere near as much as Dark Side or The Wall. Faves - Dogs and Sheep

"and it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around... So have a good time, as you go down, all alone, dragged down by the stone..."
I LOVE this album!! My second favorite Pink Floyd album, next to "Meddle". The only band that could make a 17 minute song interesting all the way through! An interesting little known fact: the 8-track version features "Pigs on The Wing" as one track, with a bonus guitar solo.
"Now you know that I care, for you, and I know that you care, for me too. So I won't feel alone, on the way to the stone Now that I've found somewhere safe to bury my bone. And any fool knows a dog needs a home.. A shelter from Pigs On The Wing"
Lyrics taken from memory... may not be exact...

It's my favorite of the three longer tracks. 'Dogs' is good as well, but I agree that those ending lyrics are a little grim.

I very seldom hear these songs, although it seems like they play cuts from Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall all the time. Poor Nikko! LOL! I'm not as familiar with 'Pigs on the Wing' as the other cuts, but I listened to clips of them on Amazon.com's site. Nice acoustic guitar work!

As much as I like Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, they do tend to overplay the songs from those albums.

I didn't know that about 'Pigs on the Wing' being combined on 8-track. Is it the first song on the tape, or the last? I imagine that guitar solo is pretty cool!

From the Meddle album my classic rock station will sometimes play San Tropez and One Of These Days during their Electric Lunch program. 'San Tropez' is a good one - I think it sounds years ahead of its time. The Electric Lunch sounds like it would be really cool! Do they play mainly older material on it?
