You know, I've never seen the movie in its entirety, but I love the music. Hopelessly Devoted To You, You're The One That I Want, Summer Nights and Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee are my faves. Good choice, Dawn.

Why doesn't the title song of a 50s nostalgia movie set in the 50s have a 50s feel to it? Some of the other original songs do.
I saw "Grease" live on stage back in the 70s.

One of the best soundtracks, period. I've seen the movie over 20 times, yet never played the soundtrack in its entirety! Hope to convert to CD on this shortly.

Yay! LOVE the movie, love the soundtrack. I've told this story before, but I was 15 when the movie came out, and I didn't drive yet, so I was always begging people to take me to go see the movie. At first, they did, but when they got tired of going with me, then I'd take the bus and go watch the movie by myself. LOL! Of course, I had to have the soundtrack too, and I listened to it constantly up in my room. Such great memories!
Whenever I watch the movie today, now that I'm older, I realize that most of the actors and actresses in the movie were close to 30 years old (if not older), and playing high school students. But when you're a teenager and just digging the movie and the music, who cares? LOL!

Good choice, Dawn. Thanks, JP. I've always loved 'Hopelessly Devoted to You', and the scene in the movie where Olivia is singing it and wiping away the image of Danny's face in the backyard pool. I would definitely recommend this movie - it's wonderful!

I remember I started buying the 45's of the singles - 'Grease' and 'Summer Nights' and then got the album not long after that. I played it so much, I practically wore it out!

Oh, I absolutely agree - it is an essential! There are lots of great party songs on it! I'd like to get this on CD sometime myself - my vinyl copy is getting pretty worn out!

Oh, I can relate, Kathy - I remember I couldn't get enough of the movie that summer, and wanted to see it again and again! That's a good point about the actors and actresses. I know Olivia was 29, and I think some of the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies were even older. They really did a great job portraying teenagers!

Hey a soundtrack.
Grease is one of the great soundtracks of the 70s. I tend to appreciate it more now than I did in the 70s. Most of the songs got more airplay then they deserved and I got burnt on the songs. Now, the songs are just great. Favorites: You're the one I Want, Sandy, Greased Lightning, Summer Nights.
