We actually had this album when I was a kid. That was a rarity, because as I have said before, we were a 45, compilation/live album house. Especially that late in the 70s!
Actually, back when we had it, I don't think I knew any of the songs! Now of course I know the three singles. Big Shot gets classic rock/timeless rock play around here, and the other two get lite rock play. Decent, but not the best. That was Glass Houses!

I never had the album growing up but I think one of my buddy's had a copy. I remember hearing Big Shot quite alot at the time. Love his piano playing on My Life.

I agree with you that Glass Houses is the better of the two albums, although this one has some great cuts also. The three singles have always been favorites of mine, and I also love 'Stiletto'. Yeah, what Sat said! The 2nd of his triple-header album faves. And "My Life" is my all time fave of Billy's. 'My Life' is one of my favorites of his as well. The years from 1977-80 were his best musically, IMO. The Stranger, 52nd Street, and Glass Houses are all winners! |

Faves - My Life , Big Shot , Honesty and Zanzibar I'd always heard good things about this album, but didn't own it myself until about 7-8 years ago, when I bought a used copy of the LP. Like you, I remember hearing 'Big Shot' a lot back then, and also 'My Life', which always reminds me of Christmas 1978! |

A great follow up to "The Stranger" "Zanzibar" is probably my fave on that one. I agree, Jim - this album really complements The Stranger well, and like that album, both the singles and album tracks on this one are very solid. |

Ah,yes!Classic Billy Joel...gotta love it!  Me too! He recorded some outstanding songs during the late 70's and in 1980, with Glass Houses. I also enjoy some of his early work, such as 'Piano Man'. |
