You know, I don't own individual Allmans albums, just a compilation, so I never remember which songs are on which albums. But I knew this was one of the biggies. Turns out it has two of my faves on here.
For a long time, I didn't like the Allmans, too twangy and hillbilly for me (yeah me, Mr Country music). But then I heard some of their other songs.
One of those songs was Melissa. Great tune, love Greg's singing on it. The other tune I love is Blue Sky. Nice easy listening tune.
One Way Out is another decent tune, a little too bluesy for me though.

I have their best of on cassette . RIP Duane - what a guitar player - nice to see their still around after all these years and playing great . Too bad Dickie Betts was kicked out of the band a few years ago (drinking and drugging I guess) hopefully he'll clean himself up. So many great albums.
Faves - Melissa ( nice and mellow - great on a summer day!) , Blue Sky (awesome) and Ain't Wastin' Time No More.

Although I've always liked 'Ramblin' Man' and 'Midnight Rider', I didn't know much about the rest of their music until a few years ago. I've been pretty impressed by what I've heard so far. Both 'Melissa' and 'Blue Sky' are good.

This group has definitely been through a lot of difficult times, but I agree, it's great to see that they're still making music. 'Ain't Wastin' Time No More' is another good one - love the guitar work!

Hi Dawn - Great choice from one of my favorite bands.
Eat a Peach is the finest album from the Allman Brothers and (imo) a must have in any collection. It has one of the best live jams ever, some great album cuts featuring Duane on slide & lead guitar, and my favorite song from the Allmans (Melissa). I got this on vinyl probably 30 years ago and it still sounds great. Mountain Jam (adapted from Donovan's First There is a Mountain) covers two complete sides of this 2 record set (sides 2&4). Side three features Duane on slide & lead guitar with Blue Sky, Trouble No More, & Stand Back being the best of that bunch. Not a top 40 album, aimed more at the FM audience of the time. Has stood the test of time and remains a classic. Other favorites: Ain't Wasting no Time and Little Martha.

It's only been in recent years that I've heard many of the songs on it, and that's been mainly on the Music Choice classic rock channel on digital cable that plays many of the deeper cuts. I agree that it's a classic album - the songs still hold up very well today.
