Today's album was suggested by Sat, and I thought I'd feature it today in memory of Elvis, on the anniversary of his death in 1977.
Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley, 1956[/size]
The tracks (including 6 bonus tracks on the 1999 edition * ):
1. Heartbreak Hotel * 2. I Was the One * 3. Blue Suede Shoes 4. I'm Counting on You 5. I Got a Woman 6. One-Sided Love Affair 7. I Love You Because 8. Just Because 9. Tutti Frutti 10. Trying to Get to You 11. I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry (Over You) 12. I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin') 13. Blue Moon 14. Money Honey 15. Shake, Rattle & Roll * 16. My Baby Left Me * 17. Lawdy Miss Clawdy * 18. I Want You, I Need You, I Love You *
What are your thoughts on this album?

Gee that's right it is the anniversary - RIP Elvis . I don't have this on CD(I have a couple of tracks on casette as well as the #1's disc). I would like to get this very, very soon. A simply incredible debut album, the songs jump out of the speakers. Elvis, Scotty, Bill, and DJ, gave it all they had.
Faves - Heartbreak Hotel , Blue Suede Shoes , Just Because , Trying To Get To You , My Baby Left Me , Money Honey , I Got a Woman etc.

I recently got this on disc. And you know, I STILL haven't listened to it! I always take a long time to listen to new stuff. It wasn't THAT recent that I got it actually. Good idea, doing it on his anniversary! You know, this was before the album rock era, but with Elvis, his "filler" was better than most other artist's hits! Best tune on the original album is Trying to Get to You. First heard that on a used cassette I picked up about 10 years ago. All six bonus tracks are classics, with My Baby Left Me being the best. I Want You, I Need You, I Love You has always been my mom's fave from him.

'Heartbreak Hotel' is such a classic, as is 'Blue Suede Shoes'. It would have been awesome to have listened to this album when it first debuted - what a great sound!

I agree with you about the album tracks. I'm not familiar with them all, but the ones I've heard are great, equal or better to the hit songs of the day. 'I Want You, I Need You, I Love You' is a really good tune. I wish the oldies stations played it more often.
