Good one! I shoulda thought of it!
While I'm thinking of it, I'd like to suggest 2 others by EC-Behind the Sun and August!
I've heard 4 cuts get play on the radio. I Shot the Sheriff (which I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of) being the biggest.
Motherless Children, although I don't like the title and lyrics, is one of my fave EC tunes. That and Mainline Florida used to get play on the old classic rock stations here as "lost classics". I like Mainline Florida too.
Let it Grow is one that has been getting airplay on the Timeless Rock station lately. Good one, but again, Motherless Children is the best on here-love the guitar!

A fine album from Eric - I don't own it but I do have 3 of the tunes on the Crossroads box - the version of I Shot the Sherrif included is a live version(I have the studio version as well) ,and there is an unreleased tune from the sessions as well.
I borrowed The CD of 461 from my local library and added Give Me Strength to a cassette I was putting together quite a while back - among his best.
Faves -
Let It Grow - very nice dobro playing from EC , great back up vocals by Yvonne Elliman
Motherless Children -What a contrast Sad lyrics set to a nice upbeat shuffle - love Jamie Oldaker's drumming , great slide guitar . nice bass from Carl Radle - RIP
I Shot The Sherrif - I've never tired of it - loved it ever since around the age of seven. A great version!
Give Me Strength - Love it!

Hi Dawn - Great album choice today.
My favorite artist and the best guitar player in rock history (Rolling Stone got wrong imo). Two top 40s (one was #1) and a group of very strong album tracks. Love the reggae in I Shot the Sheriff & Willie & the Hand Jive. Probably not my favorite Clapton album, but a great one anyway. Other favorites: Give Me Strength, Let It Grow, Get Ready, I Can't Hold Out, Motherless Child, Please be With Me.

I’m not too familiar with August, but Behind the Sun will be coming up! There was a point when ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ got a lot of play on the oldies stations here, but I actually haven’t heard it in quite a while now, come to think of it. ‘Let It Grow’ has gotten play here also – great song. I’m surprised that it wasn’t more successful as a single.

I agree about ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ – excellent song that I’ve loved since it was current also. (Wasn’t 1974 a great year for music – so many of my very favorites are from that year! ). I didn’t realize it was a remake until 1986 or 1987, when a friend who was a big fan of Bob Marley’s told me.

They don’t come much more talented than Eric, I agree – his ability as a guitarist is nothing short of amazing. ‘Willie and the Hand Jive’ is another great song that I’ve started to hear occasionally on the oldies and classic rock stations. I like how he blends the reggae sound with his own style.
