Finally, it's time for one of my album reviews! I know you all have missed me so much and were just dying for me to get back...Sarcasm aside, it's been a while and I've missed posting regularly. I've been so busy lately, but my work schedule is finally settling and I'll be back on here a lot more now. I'd like to do a BIG review this week. I don't want it to be so BIG that it bores you though, so I won't do my usual song-by-song recap.

Adam had been telling me for weeks that it was absolutely necessary for me to buy this Stevie Nicks boxed set since I am such a huge fan. Well, to make a long story short, here it is: I present to you "The Enchanted Works of Stevie Nicks".

Topped with awesome liner notes and a ton of pics, this collection IS definitive...except for the fact that it's five years old and therefore is missing some great newer recordings of Stevie's. I've listened to this pretty much non-stop since I got it. Stevie is such an awesome songwriter. She expresses so many of my feelings in her lyrics that it's a little creepy. Now, all these songs are great, but I have chosen some favorites. I love others as well, but these are my major faves:

Talk To Me
Ooh My Love
Rose Garden
Stand Back
Garbo
If Anyone Falls
Edge of Seventeen (This is a live version, so I don't like it as much.)

Isn't that a cool solo version of Rhiannon?

I agree about Edge of 17. I have no problem with a live version-a box set should have unique stuff on it. But I think the original should be included as well.

How did I know you'd like Garbo? Because it mentions both Greta and Dietrich??

What makes this set so essential is that 2 discs are hits (so it's more than her Timespace collection) and the third gathers up all her rarities-soundtrack songs, outtakes, the solo Rhiannon, the duets, and the Buckingham-Nicks classic, Long Distance Winner. (LOVE that one!)

I think I like this solo version of Rhiannon even better than the Mac version. That piano interlude in the middle of the song is amazing!

I like it that the rarities are included as well. That makes it a true essential, more than anything else. And yes, you should've known I'd like "Garbo"...ha ha.

I'm glad I finally found this. It was so worth the $40 bucks!

Yay! This is a cool box set. I'm glad you were able to pick it up. It's been awhile since I've listened to it, and your review makes me wanna go put it in the player right now and reaquaint myself with it.

I've always liked Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and I remember recording Edge of Seventeen, Stand Back and Leather and Lace off the radio when they were hits Great review !

I have Stevie's first two albums on vinyl, but would like to begin upgrading to CD, and this looks like a great place to start. Like you and Adam, I think it would have been great if they'd included the original version of 'Edge of Seventeen' also - one of my faves of hers!

I also especially like 'Stand Back', 'Nightbird', 'Stop Draggin' My Heart Around', and 'I Can't Wait'.

It's a PERFECT place to start, and I LOVE Outside the Rain from the first album. Very signature Stevie sound on that one!

I wonder why she didn't include Gold Dust Woman? That's one of my favorites. I also like; Sleeping Angel, If Anyone Falls, Whenever I Call You Friend, and Stand Back.

I can answer that Andrea-because Gold Dust Woman is a Fleetwood Mac tune, not Stevie solo.

The only Mac song on here, Rhiannon, is actually Stevie solo, at her piano, with no other musical accompanyment.

That would be correct. For a minute I wondered why Landslide wasn't on here, but that's a Fleetwood Mac song also. Duh.
