Like my TV post, Dawn kinda touched on this in her survey, but I wanted to go into more detail.
Which are you faves?
1. Martina McBride-White Christmas
She really made the album sound timeless. It's perfect background music for your holidays, and she didn't bog it down with new, experimental songs, just the classics She did it right!
2. Elvis-If Every Day Was Like Christmas
A compilation and a complete one at that. The 8 songs from his first album, the title track single, and the entire 71 album. Not to mention 4 alternate versions and brief holiday wish from The King.
3. Beach Boys-Ultimate Christmas
Again, their whole original album, single mix of Little Saint Nick, other alternates, plus their whole aborted 70's Christmas project.
4. Phil Spector
I feel like a hypocrite here-I still don't own this!! But we all know how great it is.
5. Rudolph, Frosty & Friends Favorite Songs
Just about every song from the 3 major shows, plus Little Drummer Boy. What a great find this was!
6. Motown
Can't remember the name of this because again, I don't have it. An ex of mine did. It included the J5 doing Santa Claus is Comin' to Town and Smokey's Jingle Bells.
7. A Very Special Christmas
This gets a nod mostly for Stevie Nicks' Silent Night and U2's cover of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). In between are many other great tracks.
8. America-Holiday Harmony
From our own Kitty who made me a copy. Very unique record in that some of the holiday hits are done in the style of their own classic hits. The originals are really good too.
9. Trisha Yearwood-The Sweetest Gift
I like Trisha, but have never been a die hard. But she really does a good job on this album, especially on the 2 originals that I put in the tourney-It Wasn't His Child and Take a Walk Through Bethlehem.
10. A Country Christmas 1999
Every year, Target puts out holiday CD's in several genres. I have gotten the Country one every year, but this first one is the best. Martina's I'll Be Home For Christmas, Chely Wright's Let it Snow!, Sara Evans' O Come All Ye Faithful and Reba's This is My Prayer For You. Even the male artists on this one are good!
So let's have yours!
