I just went to a thrift store today (I have the day off) to donate some clothes & toys, and looked at their CD selection while I was at it. I wound up buying a CD called "Feel Good! Song Collection", from Senokot laxatives. It's mostly aimed at "baby boomers"--on the back it says "Senokot Laxatives are a natural for the Baby Boom market." It probably was a freebie originally, but it cost me $2.82, which is almost as good. It hasn't been opened yet. And look what songs are on it! 1. "Roll with the Changes"-REO Speedwagon 2. "Surrender"-Cheap Trick 3. "You're Only Lonely"-J.D. Souther 4. "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)"-The Looking Glass 5. "Baby Hold On"-Eddie Money 6. "I'll Supply the Love"-Toto 7. "Street Corner Serenade"-Wet Wille 8. "The Lonely One"-Dave Mason 9. "Thunder and Lightning"-Chi Coltrane 10."American Girls"-Rick Springfield Good variety of stuff, huh? The Rick Springfield one doesn't ring a bell (maybe it will when I hear it--I haven't listened to the CD yet), but I'm familiar with the rest of them. My favorites are #'s 4, 6, 7, 8 & 9. "Brandy" reminds me of my mom, because while she wasn't into rock & top 40 music, that was one song she did like. I think Cheap Trick had songs that were better than the one on this CD; ditto J.D. Souther, although I haven't heard as much of his stuff. But anyway, it's a good lineup of songs. I'm looking forward to hearing the CD! I also got "Tidal" by Fiona Apple. That was a little pricier--$5.85.

Rick Springfield is a bit like a laxative to me. LOL!!! Sorry Dawn, couldn't resist.
Anyway, good collection Laura! I have to say though, not only do I not know Rick's song either, I don't know Dave Mason's or Wet Willie's!
Cool that Chi Coltrane is on there!

Cool that Chi Coltrane is on there! That was one of the songs that clinched my decision to buy it. That and the one by Toto--"I'll Supply the Love" was going through my head the other day! I don't know why; I hadn't heard it in ages! Dave Mason's "The Lonely One" is a beautiful song. IIRC, I think there was someone famous who played on it--I believe Stevie Wonder on harmonica? I'll have to look that up. I'm just trying to figure out what all these songs have to do with laxatives...

Wow Laura! I thought you'd be the LAST person to use the words "Boomer" and "Laxative" in the same sentence. But I didn't. THEY did.

Cool CD. Lots of variety. As for me, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. Only 10 songs? Short track lists make me mad. LOL.
Let us know what you think after you've listened to it.

Cool lineup of songs. I love going thru the CDs at thirft shops & flea markets because every now & then you find good ones like you did, for a fraction of the original cost. Congrats on your find. Like Adam, I not familiar with the Dave Mason or Wet Willie songs either.

I listened to the CD and love it! The only complaint I have is that the Eddie Money song is a shortened version (and the longer version is not _that_ much longer than the short version). They should have included THE WHOLE THING!!! Well, enough venting--I've been having a blast listening to it! And yeah, Lora, I do wish it had more songs. But that's ok.
The Fiona Apple CD I got is really good too--but (and I wish I'd noticed this before I got it)--it's a copy that somebody burned! They even xeroxed the cover, lyric pages, etc.! So what I'm gonna do is get another copy that is real (not one that someone burned), and then I'll just keep the one that someone burned in my car. I do that when I have "extra" copies of CD's. It's a great CD; I really like Fiona's style. I'm just mad that I spent $5.85 (for a thrift store CD purchase, that's high) and it turned out not to be an original, but a copy!

Ooo - that totally sucks! I guess we should really all be on the lookout for stuff like that, huh? I forget how advanced CD burning has become.
