Def Leppard will be releasing a CD of cover songs in September. One of those songs included - Badfinger's No Matter What is already available on the bands new compilation album - Rock Of Ages. Now keep in mind that when this was first posted on the bands website a few months back a final running order of songs had not been finalized. I'm going to pick up a copy when it's released. 10538 Overture (original by ELO) 20th Century Boy (original by T-Rex) Don't Believe A Word (original by Thin Lizzy) Drive In Saturday (original by David Bowie) Hanging On The Telephone (original by Blondie) Hellraiser (original by Sweet) He's Gonna Step On You Again (original by John Kongos) No Matter What (original by Badfinger) Little Bit Of Love (original by Free) Rock On (original by David Essex) Stay With Me (original by The Faces) Street Life (original by Roxy Music) The Golden Age Of Rock & Roll (original by Mott The Hoople) Waterloo Sunset (original by The Kinks) American Girl (original by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) Heartbeat (original by Jobriath) How Does It Feel (original by Slade) Kick Out The Jams (original by MC5) Roxanne (original by The Police) Dear Friends (original by Queen) When I'm Dead And Gone (original by McGuinness Flint) Winter Song (original by Lindisfarne)

Well, we already talked about this in PM's, but that's a helluva list! Especially impressed about 10538 Overture! Lizzy's song is a good one too! Waterloo Sunset is another great one! Interesting that they are covering Petty. Although he started before them, he really peaked in the 80's so he's really more of a contemporary of theirs.
There haven't been a lot of tribute albums by artists I like thus far, but I'm interested in picking up this one too! Obviously gonna be a 2 disc set!

I'll bet their version of "No Matter What" is a lot of fun. I love that song!

The ELO cover will be very cool to hear along with McGuiness Flint, Sweet (since they did such a great job earlier with Action), The Faces etc.

10538 Overture (original by ELO) Cool!
20th Century Boy (original by T-Rex) A song that is mostly known from it's recent use in car commercials here in the U.S.
Don't Believe A Word (original by Thin Lizzy) Like T-Rex, every British band was influenced by Lizzy. Not sure I know this song....
Drive In Saturday (original by David Bowie) ...or this one, but it's nice to see them pick an obscurity instead of "Young Americans" or "Suffragette City".
Hanging On The Telephone (original by Blondie) Their version of this probably rips!
Hellraiser (original by Sweet) Another cool obscurity!
He's Gonna Step On You Again (original by John Kongos) I NEVER would have expected them to do this song. Americans are more familiar with Happy Mondays cover from '91, but Kongos was big in England. No Matter What (original by Badfinger) Would love to hear it.
Little Bit Of Love (original by Free) Think I MIGHT know it.
Rock On (original by David Essex) 'eh..
Stay With Me (original by The Faces) again, 'eh..
Street Life (original by Roxy Music) Not bad..
Waterloo Sunset (original by The Kinks) A little mellow for Def Leppard, but maybe it's good. American Girl (original by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) Why?
Heartbeat (original by Jobriath) Heard of Jobriath. He was pushed as the first openly gay rocker in the 70's, but never took off. Gee, I wonder why...
How Does It Feel (original by Slade) Know Slade, but not this
Kick Out The Jams (original by MC5) Common cover...
Roxanne (original by The Police) 'eh.. Why'd they pick this?
Dear Friends (original by Queen) Nice ballad, but not a song I'd picture Def Leppard covering.
Winter Song (original by Lindisfarne) Know the artist, not the song.

They're covering "Sweet Life"? I'm totally interested in hearing this. I'm not familiar with a handful of the songs here, but it still looks like a good list. I'm also suprised by their choice to cover "Roxanne" and "He's Gonna Step...". My curiosity in peaked.

Sounds like a great album, Ken. Some of the songs I'm not familiar with, but many I would love to hear. Especially interested in their cover of McGuinness Flint (I haven't heard When Im Dead and Gone for years.) The Police, and MC5 (I wonder if they'll use Kick Out the Jams Brothers and Sisters or the original).

It's time to remember and celebrate Sharon Tate for who she was ... not what happened to her.

When I first heard the cover of "No Matter What" I couldn't tell it was Def Leppard. They performed it during their concert and did a pretty good job of it. I wasn't impressed with the cover of "Rock On" though. I'm a huge Def Leppard fan and I'm still trying to get myself up for a covers album. I think I should be more accepting since Martina did an excellent job with Timeless ... but I've always viewed cover albums as a sign of ... hmm ... how do you say? ... "washed-up'ed-dom" .... LOL!

There have been so many artists doing cover albums in the past four or five years. Rod Stewart is credited with starting the trend, and he seems to be the most successful at it as well. Four volumes of standards. Pretty impressive.
